GI Cancer Institute

GI Cancer Institute

Gastro-intestinal (GI) cancer is the most common form of cancer. Each year, 34,291 Australians are diagnosed with GI cancer, and each day, GI cancer claims 37 Australian lives.

We raise funds for clinical trials cancer research which bring better treatments for Australian GI cancer patients.

GI cancer includes the digestive organs: oesophagus, stomach, liver, gallbladder and biliary tract, pancreas, large and small bowel, rectum and anus.

Our clinical trials allow us to find better ways to treat GI cancers. This has seen the improvement in both the life expectancy and quality of life of people diagnosed with gastro-intestinal cancers. Donations are used to fund clinical trials research by the not-for-profit organisation Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group (AGITG).

My husband is 33 years old, went in for an endoscopy april 14, for an h. Pilory negative test, but nothing was said about cancer. He got very yellowish and was feeling very tired, i finally convinced him to go to the hospital by August 18, and by August 23 they told us he had stomach cancer stage 4 and that he had 3 to six months to live, and with chemotherapy if it work he'll live for two years. Really, we were in shock, after doing and endoscopy they couldn't see that he had cancer. No, warning, nothing. 😢

Our body is a very complicated machine. My experiences, as a very old man, tell me we do some very wrong things to our health on our path to old age which distorts our auto-mode which most enjoy as children. It all seems to stem around our lymph flow. It is critical to good health. Lymph fails to reach critical areas in the body...as a result our spine twists slightly and this puts abnormal strains and stresses on many organs, including the pancreas. The path which I'm exploring, which is serving me best, is following the accurate teaching of Jesus Christ.

@@guruprasad7184 For patients that present with severe illness and have ignored all previous symptoms (waited until they were so debilitated with pain, nausea, jaundice, swelling of the abdominal area and have a family history of pancreatic cancer, plus have a history of alcohol abuse and/or tobacco . These are typical candidates for palliative care (immediate hospice referral) because they ignored the body warning ⚠️signs that tell you Get To A Doctor NOW! Some fear medical care, others think they must pay and they are flat broke! The government will treat you the same way a millionaire is treated! It's all free! It's like letting your house burn down before you get off your ass and DO SOMETHING! Advances in medicine are truly astonishing ! moving at the speed of a bullet! But Pancreatic Cancer so often exhibits NO warning signs! and by the time you start dropping weight and feeling like crap... it's too late. i'm very rare occasion when during a routine annual check up the doctor check your abdomen for any signs of abnormalities and when he is pushing around your pancreas you come up off the floor like a Jack-in-the-Box due to the pain. At that point he will do a total work up including CT scan, blood work, ultrasound, x-rays, he might even do a biopsy using a thin needle and deadening the area with lidocaine and Eppineneffrin . you won't feel anything until the next day and it will be sore in that area but once he gets a tiny sample he can send it directly to pathology and get a positive determination normally within one hour. I don't mean to take up away from anyone but I have been in medicine for 60 years and I never can't decode any bad news. It is just simply a sneaky and often fatal disease. I knew of a Doctor Who passed away 21 days post prognosis. That is really fast I just don't know what to say to you if you are in the hands of a good doctor he will or she will dedicate all of their years of training to getting the best outlook for you. I am assuming you i've already had a diagnosis and a prognosis but so much depends on what your doctor knows about your case. Like I say the pancreas is the one organ that hides and shield cancer to the point that it's not detected until it's really late in the game. best of luck to you. go to www.webmd.com that's web md . com

👍I just want to say thank you to these men for stepping up to talk about Pancreatic Cancer! It's extremely important to make people aware of it! My first awareness of Pancreatic Cancer was Patrick Swayze, Actor, Dancer, Singer , etc. He died in 2009! Two outstanding movies that come to mind are: Dirty Dancing and Ghost. The Pancreas is one of the major control centers of the body. The survival rate is not good, 9.8% for 5 years. Awareness is a huge part of survival!

my beautiful mum died from pancreatic cancer it took 5 weeks and the experience and finally her last night and hours were the most traumatic of my life. it is absolutely essential that awareness is spread, funds made and research, far more research can be made into improving these shocking figures. but they're not figures, they are someone's mum, dad, husband wife, uncle, grandma, grandad and their lives are being stolen from them and leave those left behind to open with their grief and trauma and a need to spread awareness in memory of their loved ones.

The best doctors, scientists and billions of dollars from donors all over the world and from every social economic strata have gone into research to find a cure. These men and women working on the front lines of this disease are heros, not shameful.

It was May 2016 when doctors told me I had months to live, but the worst thing was telling my children. My husband Dave and I decided to wait a month, until their exams were over, and when the day came, I was lying in bed. Matthew, who is now 18, started to cry, and Georgina, 20, said, ‘Mum, you can’t expect me to go to your funeral. Afterwards, I lay in the middle of them, holding their hands. I realized that I had so much to say to them but I didn’t do it immediately as we tried to keep family life normal probably a bit in denial. Then one day, just as I was arriving for an appointment at Princess Alice Hospice in Esther, Surrey, not far from our home, one of the nurses said, "Dr Harvey Herbal Herbs might do it." "Do what?" I asked. She introduced me to Dr Harvey, I explained My Pancreatic life Story to him and I was told that I can be cured of this disease, Only God knew that I never believe because all my hope was lot at this point. But when Dr Harvey make me Understand I pray about it that God should care me through his herbs because I have a lovely and beautiful family and kids. Two months after taking the herbal herbs I go for a check up and there where no sign of Pancreatic cancer. Is It that I'm totally cure? I ask myself until the Dr Confirmed it that I was cured of Pancreatic Cancer and even when i did the text again. I also learned how much friends and family can be part of getting well. Our circle of friends and relatives was an incredible support. I want to anyone suffering from Cancer to contact Dr. Harvey via WhatsApp: +1 475 522 1289..All thanks to him that I didn't give up on life. Email: [email protected]
