  My mom told me that her Dad, my grandfather, used to sing this to her when she was a little girl. She would join in and laugh at the “ya, ya, Ya, ya” part. We don’t know why he sang a German song, he was from Australia!Mom passed away less than 2 months ago at 90. She had Alzheimer’s and was in memory care, but told me of this memory about 6 months before she died. I miss her so much!

  I was at the lower level of the Church of Nativity on Bethlehem and saw first hand the place where Mary and Joseph ushered in Baby Jesus into the world. I am sure they were homeless.

  This is the best Wiegenlied ever heard. Your German is perfect. Even Germans have problem of pronouncing "ü" on Süße because it is on high note but you did it perfectly. I was in tears thinking of this young teenage mother Maria holding her Baby maybe with a thought of her Baby's fate for helpless human race's redemption. My teacher Felix Wolfes was a student of Max Reger. Merry Christmas to you all who accepts the gift of love from the loving God on this Christmas season. SDG.
