"Pawn it in New Jersey."--Kingfish. I was waiting for that line now for 64 years. My 8th grade buddy, Ron Mercer used to go over episodes of Kingfish, Andy and Calhoun the morning after an episode of Amos 'n Andy. Is it ever as good as it was back then?

The dialogue between Andy and Madame Queen really displays how _forgiving_ the English language can be. Andy's grammar usage is atrocious, but he can still be understood. I've been told by individuals that when they learned English as a second language, they appreciated how forgiving it was with grammar use, as if they were to use improper grammar in their native language, they could not be understood.

Been into vintage tv 40 years (started telling my real age). James Galbreath started it in 1983 - San Francisco on late night TV (after midnight). It has taken off like wildfire! My brother had Amos and Andy 45 years ago tapped before it was illegal.

Like it or not, this show has some valid reasons for and against its production, and it essentially was a show that had its issues because it was a product of its time. While it was something of a breakthrough to have black leads in television who weren’t simply servants to white people, there were many issues which organizations like the NAACP pointed out with this program such as the racial undertones (and the fact that this show was conceived with two white leads in blackface). The show’s main problem was that it came out during a period in which black leads were simply non-existent and because of both prejudice and an inability to get advertisers to sponsor said programs. Throughout the coming years, people like Nat King Cole, Leslie Uggams, Harry Belafonte, Sammy Davis, Pearl Bailey, and others, would help pave the way for more inclusion and creativity in television.

I enjoyed this episode and noticed 2 actors who would go on to appear on Hogan's Heroes! Did anyone else notice them? Listen to the audience squeal with laughter! This was funny stuff and the best part was that it was completely innocent and couldn't upset anyone. In those days TV was a distraction from daily life and daily stresses and now TV can actually add to anxiety!

5:57 hell the “this car has had one previous owner an old lady who used to drive it to the bank only” line was being used 70yrs ago by second hand car salesman! It must be the oldest line in the book. Hundreds of years ago they must of changed the line of car for a horse
