Hi Nicole! Glad I found this! I am currently in Chorus (adult beginner with background in ballet, hence the stiffer boot). since it is quite a huge jump from a Chorus to a Piano, how was the transition (since it has been a year)? Do you feel more secure in them compared to the Chorus? I know you mentioned the Piano being your dream skate, but I wonder if you also tried on the Ice Fly or the Concerto before deciding on the Piano. I've just started learning my waltz jump and just got them securely (technique wise, aesthetically still some polishing) so I was thinking if I need something more secure moving forward. My trainer has not mentioned anything but the season is ending (I only have 1-2 lesson till we go away for summer).

A fellow adult skater AND ballerina! Hi Aya! Thanks for asking! Here are my thoughts... Firstly, the transition has been pretty smooth. I haven't had any major issues since switching. The biggest and only modification I've done was bumping my right boot out a little to give my bunion more space a few months ago. However, my bunion on my right foot is pretty big and was the reason we got new boots in the first place. As for the second question, I do feel more secure in them compared to the Chorus. I think that's mostly because the Piano has additional things added onto them that increase the security. Such as, the stiffness in Piano's are comparably a lot higher. Not to mention, Piano's do have a shock absorbing technology (to absorb the impact from jumps) while the rest of the boots in the Edea line don't. Thirdly, I didn't try the Ice Fly or Concerto. My heart was set on the Piano's lol. In my honest opinion, I think you're still good with the Chorus for a long while. After all, they're designed to support double jumps so their durability is still pretty high. I practice for an average of 3 hours per week and attempted many axels and doubles on those boots throughout all those three years. I likely would've still used them for another year or two if not for my bunion causing issues. My coach even suggested for me to get another Chorus when I told her I'm going to need to get new boots. BUT what still made me strongly eye on the Piano's (besides the physical appearance of them that I found pretty) was that shock absorbing technology and the higher stiffness, which would allow it to break down less quickly compared to the Chorus since these boots might be the last boots my parents will buy for me and I want them to last as long as possible (this is a tangent, but when I researched to compare Piano's with Ice Fly's, Ice Fly's are known to breakdown quicker compared to Piano's). In general, I wouldn't start considering to switch to a stiffer boot until you got your axel down and starting to work on doubles OR your current boots are starting to breakdown (which can be possible to happen sooner if your average hours of practice per week is higher than mine). However, I do see that you also have a ballet background, which to me, indicates your ankles could be stronger than the average person in your level. Do you mind telling me how long you've done ballet? Because I believe that factor could also be considered on when's the best time to consider a stiffer boot and could need you to switch to a stiffer boot sooner. However, also get your coach's opinion on this matter too because that opinion matters a lot! Feel free to ask additional questions as well!

@@nicoleturns Thank you so much for taking the time to give such a detailed answer. To answer the ballet question, I can't remember for how long but I was on pointe for a year or so before I stopped doing them due to school. I do think the Chorus will last me a while and I am actually on the camp of preferring the more conventional look of the Chorus/Concerto rather than the Ice Fly/Piano style. Let's see how things goes. But I think I was mainly asking because I am not fond of the mesh inside padding. For some reason my heels are more secure in the sponge padding style of the models like the Chorus and Concerto. But it is good to know that the transition wasn't too hard and good for you for knowing and getting what you want! I always believe it is important to enjoy what you do to get the most out of them!

First time I tried Edea spinner, I flew into the table and got my eyebrow injured. Very slippery.

Ouch! Hope your hand is getting better! I second that idea. However, the spinner won’t just work on carpet. So if you use a piece of hard floor like I did in the video over the carpet, please make sure it’s big enough so you can still spin around. Another way to try to prevent injury while using any spinner is to wear butt pads.
