Scientists have known about humans' effect on the environment for over a century and a half at least. It's pathetic and irresponsible to blame all of this on laymen now. Rather than despair, we should all get out and do good worksm whatever they may be. That is what brings societies together so they can accomplish things.

Summary of video - propaganda The 2.5C is just 1 more degree. It is not a crisis. It is also unlikely to happen as it ignore errors and uncertainty in calculations that are likely to reduce that rise. There is no evidence that anything unusual is happening, the pre-1850 proxies are all freely available, download a few and marvel at the huge scatter, wild variations, no consistency. At best the myth of a stable past is just an average line drawn through a cloud of disagreeing numbers.

We are all denialists. Absolutely nothing substantive is going to be done about climate change. Because Climate Change is a symptom or consequence of Global Industrial Civilization in Overshoot. “Fighting” climate change is like worrying about a blood stain on your new pants….from arterial bleeding of the chainsaw wound on another part of your leg. …….and you will not look at this. ……and that’s ok.

The other issue is the way the media talks about politics is it turns it into “great man theory of history” lens + “us vs them” instead of helping us make it through the complexity and learn together.

climate deniers are so stupid and arrogant in their stupidity. Every fucking city in the world is boiling and everybody already can notice that the heat we saw the past year is unlike anything anyone ever seen before.. also how hard it is for people to say who's to blame: capitalism. A system based on the infinite growth in a finite world is obviously going to collapse eventually.

Our main issue is not climate change. Give a thought to the physicist that have developed energy negative systems or spontaneous motion systems, that have been silenced or killed for trying to get products on the market that could reduce our emissions to zero overnight. Hmmm. History is littered with them. Hence one could say that climate change is caused by the inability to release known technologies onto the market. Period. Reaching net zero is not the problem.

Personally I can't see the problem. Plants grow better in warmer climates. The planet has been far warmer previously, Co2 levels have been far higher previously, and also far lower at times, life not only survives, it thrives when temperatures are higher and precipitation/moisture levels are higher. You are all just a bunch of pessimists and funding seekers. Misery loves company.

  • @swiftlytiltingplanet8481

Not exactly true, my friend. The plants of hot prehistoric times were cycads, ferns, gingkos and horsetails. WE DON'T EAT THOSE. Only SOME plants grow better in warmer climates. With just a few days above 75 degrees F, cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, spinach and broccoli all BOLT and stop developing. Between 90-95, tomatoes and cucumbers drop their flowers and cease production. Blueberries become necrotic and rot. Wheat and rice yields plummet. At 104 degrees photosynthesis BREAKS DOWN and many seeds won't even germinate. Think of places in the world like Phoenix, which last summer suffered through 31 straight days of above 110-degree temperatures. If you're a subsistence farmer (and there are still over. sbillion in the world), you lose your crops, your livelihood and your sustenance in one fell swoop. ` It's not nearly as neat and tidy as fossil fuel industry propaganda would have us believe.

I remember reading a story about a climate scientist who was interviewed to be on the IPCC panel. He said that the only people who got selected were the ones who were the most rabid promoters of man-made global warming. If you were in any way objective you were shown the door. Like the man said when the Gold Rush started, “There’s money in them thar hills “. Write a paper with the desired conclusion and collect your check. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Anything that comes to mind would have been great 50 years ago. Do you really think we will all go back to preindustrial lifestyles? And even if we did tomorrow, it’s probably too late. NO CLIMATE EMERGENCY. Over the past 550 million years, the average global temperatures range from 8°c to 22°c, now 13°c. Earth can maintain climate homeostasis. Why the urgency to freeze and starve millions of people to death? The incessant call for human sacrifice by the climate death cult is a crime against humanity. It is a multi-trillion dollar robbery.

"NO CLIMATE EMERGENCY." With all due respect, you really don't know the science, including the fact that the big and rapid changes in CO2 levels and global temps caused many extinction events in Earth's past. Thousands of research studies and 40+ years of quite accurate climate models prove that our emissions caused ~98% of global warming since 1900. The scientific evidence is so strong that every nation on earth has signed off in agreement on this fact. This has nothing to do with natural cycles, and our emissions are currently warming the planet ~20 times warming than natural cycles warm it when coming out of an ice age. In turn, that rapid warming is harming people, societies, economies, other species, and the ecosystems our lives depend on in hundreds of ways. Take care.

In the US, record temperatures were set in the 1930's that still hold to this day. This was also the time of the Dust Bowl years. The world was going to burn up they said. 35 years later in the 60's-'70's scientists were saying watch out for the new ice age coming, as it was real cold. Climate change always happens as it depends on cycles inherent within the sun and solar system. Witness Pluto losing 25% of its atmosphere and ask what is causing that? It's not your SUV. Now pollution is a different matter, and has to be diminished. Climate Change as it is being pushed now is a hoax to enable certain people to make money selling and buying carbon credits etc. They are pushing fear and people fall for it. Farmers are bearing the brunt of this, as they are pushed off their lands, and their lands end up being in the pockets of the rich, who are pushing climate change. It is a planned wealth transfer, and nothing personal, just business.

Farmers are being hurt by the changing precipitation patterns and increasingly extreme drought and rainfall caused by man-made global warming, plus larger crop failures and livestock deaths from extreme heat waves. And when it's warmer, water evaporates faster so you have to irrigate more. Take care.

No consensus of mainstream climate scientists ever warned of an imminent new Ice Age in the 60s and 70s. Crackpots? Yes. Outliers? Yes. But the mainstream? Absolutely not. The vast majority of scientific papers published in the science journals of the day were warning of global WARMING, not an Ice Age. See MYTH OF THE 1970S GLOBAL COOLING SCIENTIFIC CONSENSUS in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society and put this very tired internet folk tale to bed once and for all. The Dust Bowl years were hot in the U.S. And? The U.S. represents two percent of the world's land masses and can't serve as a proxy for global climate. Many areas were COLDER then. Scientists also know the specific causes of the Dust Bowl and its unusual heatwaves. Google NASA GLOBAL TEMPERATURE and see where the 1930s rank on their graph. The natural "cycles" you refer to are known as Milnkovitch Cycles, and all three are in COOLING phases now. They have absolutely nothin to do with our current warming.
