The front plate and mounting pieces stay on the tractor unless you have to remove them for a 3 point or sleeve hitch or front mounted items.

The case has a "drive over deck " just back up over it. You might find 2 short 2x4s useful under the tires.

Front handle has been teaked, sittin to far back on the recoil side. A saw scrench fits the fuel and oil caps on these saws. Replace the fuel and impulse lines and spark plug. Good little trim saws for sure.

Only one tire was mounted backwards. But, from the looks of things, new back tires would be in order?

Steiner, out of Illinois, has most anything you would want. They can tell you what year it is by the serial number. I bought one, 1952, thought it was a 54 for twenty years, went to buy something for it and that told me it was a 52. Thirty plus years later, all I did was update to a twelve volt system, repaired the radiator, out a new fancy, comfortable seat on it, and after twenty five years, give or take a couple, new clutch. The people I bought it from, their dad was redoing it. I have no idea what he had done to it, but oil changes and tune ups is about it. And one muffler. Funny story, after ten, or fifteen years, the thing started act ing up, not idling right, could not figure it out. Went back to basics, started with timing, 180 out. Lets go back to the beginning, the tractor would never idle less than about a thousand RPM's. Always had to throttle up. Now, back to the future, we found out it the distributor was 180 out. Fixed that, checked the plugs, reset the points, and, BOOM. The dang thing would idle at 60 RPM, which is way too low but would idle, anywhere I wanted it to? Go figure. Exhaust pointing down, like any exhaust, looks cool, UNTIL, you get in the dirt. No muffler, sparks may fly in dry grass, hay field, grass fire? So, now as we speak, I have a wheel seal leaking, along with my twenty year old radiator fix is leaking again. If you ever have to split your tractor, mark your throttle, governor, and anything else that may need to be put back in the same spot. Enjoy the tractor, I am still enjoying mine. Oh yea, a solid mount tow bar was added, better than the bar that goes on the hydraulic arms. Located in NE Ohio.

When nuts are sticking too bad, use heat on them. Get a blowtorch or an induction heater and heat them up. The corrosion holding them will give and you will be able to get them off. Just beware of the hot surface, and use gloves.

Stop trying to break the fittings off. You are supposed to move it off center and pull it off. Don't keep pushing it sideways till it breaks off. I have greased a lot of tractors and never saw one break off. Get a different nozzle for the grease gun that has a level release Called A LockNLube grease gun coupler! But there are other cheaper brands around $10.00. And absolutely get a flexible hose! Never use a solid metal tube.

You shouldn't cut down trees the way you did that small pine, notch should be about 1/3 depth of the diameter, and backcut should be even to just slightly above the bottom kerf of your notch and flat, not angled. If you use a humboldt notch then it would even with the top kerf. When bucking up the log cut only about 2/3 of the way through the log and roll it over to finish the cut, even half a second into the dirt will take the edge off the chain. If you can't roll it over cut the remaining bottom part with the bottom tip of the bar watching carefully to keep it out of the dirt. Also one last thing if you are trying to clear out a flooded carb, place the bar on a log, holding the trigger of the chainsaw wide open and pull several times, this will force more air through the venturi and clean out the excess gas.

Do not sharpen a chain the way your doing it ,you basicly are dulling the chain and file. File from inside to out is the best method, you want a really sharp chain get a two in one file ,it doeas rakers and tooth in on swipe. Replace the bar and see if that heklps keep the chain on . To properly tension a chain, lift the nose of the bar as your tensioning the chain.
