The Original Sherman was perfect for what is was designed for, people do not realize it was not a Heavy Tank, its designation and design was officially Medium Tank, M4. And could hold their own against the other mediums. German Panzer IV, Soviet T-34. Further modifications improved it but over all did not improve survivability head on with the heavy tanks.
there were never enough TDs to make the difference you claim. other vidyas in the jootoob realm say as much, as well as several post ww2 books. do some research for your clickbait. yer right up there with stevie ambroses crap.
Tank Overhaul episode 4, m18 Hellcat. If a tank destroyer is no longer needed, then why do we still operate the Republic A10 Thunderbolt 2?
There are so many false information spread about german tanks. Tiger I was planned as a super heavy break trough weapon, it was never planned to produce it in huge numbers. The panther was the next generation of the Panzer 4, he should become the new standard, and was still in the ramp up phase of mass production. The USA and Russia build by far the most tanks in 1944 and 45, because their production reached optimal output at this time, while the german production broke down at this time due to the permanent bomb attacks on their logistic and production sites combined with a lack of everything. In 1940 to 1942 the german tank production was very high, comparing the population of Germany with the USA or Russia. The Stug III and IV were the german low budget tanks and very successfull.
Today in the US.gAy- they have the dickskrieg and slitskrieg...
Joe Ekins was credited with destroying Wittman's tank , he knocked out 4 tigers with 4 rounds!!
A 4000 meter hit on a German tank in 1944? I don’t think this man has his facts right
Al fin, un estudio de la optica alemana en la segunda guerra
Why ask? The answer is well known. I can sum up in one word: socialism.
You have no idea what you are doing. This was supposed to be about 2 tigers but you show footage of panthers. What a joke and you’re comments about the speed and agility of tigers is completely wrong. Tigers were heavy, had problems negotiating mud and snow, and underpowered
Tenebrous teutonic genius.
Land battlecruisers. Same philosophy, same problems.
Great film footage of the Jagdtiger, you don't often see much of this vehicle in WW2 videos.
The Germans had too many competing designs, a result of partisan politics . If they had standardised on a single design of tank, APC, anti tank gun etc they could have mass produced, instead they pandered to Hitler's reliance on WunderWaffe
One could ask why thousands of under-gunned Shermans were manufactured, in the first place.
Gegen den Tiger oder Panther keine chance
Caliban and elephant still my favorites tanks
Manstein was NOT a Von. His last name was Lewinski and took his sister's husbands name! Kids today don't know shit because our schools stopped educating in the 80's.
I believe the tank destroyer concept was flawed and its disappearance after the war supports that conclusion. The TD strategy didn't merge well with the overall nature of the allied offensive nature while TD's tasks were basically defensive. Another problem arose because they looked like a tank and too many commanders figured if it looked like a tank it could fight like a tank. So they tried to use them like tanks if no real tanks were available. That was bad news for the TD because their light armor was vulnerable to about everything that was shot at them.
An uncle of mine was a tank commander in the second world war. When in action the tank crew would sometimes crack the hatch a couple of inches to reduce the heat inside. My uncle ended up with a serious head injury as a result of shrapnel finding that little gap.
I have seen a picture of a mass of tanks gathered in Paris after Germany surrendered. There are a few survivor M3 Lees and many Shermans of various models, including an early production M4 still sporting the twin fixed-mount machine guns up front.
17:07 only Americans were in Normandy? Britain and Canada destroyed 80+%of German panzers in Normandy.
Where were the US army in 1939 when we needed them?
But how cool are they?
Bro why did you rate this with chat got This is bullshit
So much for the claims that the Sherman was equal or better than the Panthers and Tigers. Send those "misinformed flag wavers" to see this video. The truth cannot be denied - only the Firefly had a real chance.
Ya know, I would be really interested in what actually happened, but holy hell I can‘t stand the hero worship
Невозможно обьять необьятное,было построено свыше 10000 подводных лодок,,это-десятки потенциальных тысяч тигров...
Retreat 500 kms to have enough reserves for one counter attack that very quickly runs out of steam is what a master strategist would do?
1:09 Rip doggo
Too busy eating quiche and cheese. What an embarrassment we should have just left Europe to Germany. Same goes for Ukraine let Europe handle it leave North America out of it.
The British weren't planning too takeover the world. Hitler was. By blitzkrieg
How many times can you say the same thing but in a different way...
At 815 tankers leave a tank without any damage it seems😮...or i just couldnt see the hole😅....its funny how the sherman was forced into tank on tank combat witch it was never designed for😮....shermans are infantry tanks and in that role there fukn deadly😊. B we built our tank core in live combat we were greener then grass when it came too tank warfare but the germans were seasoned tankers with established doctrine that was tried and used for years with success....so knowing that we still fought without fear and every fight our tankers got smarter and more edgy . Bye 1944 shermans were a massive problem for germany if there is 1 there is 10 more😊 plus we were seasoned we took alot less losses and shermans srarted racking up victories even the short barrell 75 sherman would be a nightmare in 1944 😅because germany had nothing too stop armor it was all used up in the east😮 so shermans had no threats in ladder war period . Basically america beat germany with a smaller tank that was built simple for farm boys too run😂😂😂 we had tons of parts and soldiers too fill those tanks.america should have copied the stugg with a long 75mm. ❤ idk why TF we didnt they were the best tank in ww2 next too t 34
Germany didn’t have a strategic plan at all to bring down any of its opponents. If they had, they first of all needed a fleet and a Liftwaffe to control the channel for invasion of England in first place. Everything was just improvisation
Interesting subject, but I gave up quickly as I cannot stand the narration voice and the mispronounciations.
3:50 "This is for the newsreels, boys, so act interested."
I too am sick of these AI voices. There are particular ‘voices’ that are absolutely terrible now: 1) The fake Morgan Freeman ‘Voice of Authority’. 2) That American Grandpa ‘Voice of Sentimental Patriotism. Please feel free to add to the list….
Ill-fated defense of the Elsenborn Ridge??Are you kidding me? Well, what if I told you that Patton would not have been able to relieve Bastogne in time had the 99th infantry not bravely stood their ground in that ridge? It was because they were holding back the entire armored column of Rundstedt's Army group A (North). This demonstration proved that it was possible to defend Bastogne even being miles away. Had the 99th retreated, Rundstedt would definitely redirect his armored group to Bastogne to crush the 101th held up there before Patton's arrival.🥱
Do you know that the word "Panzer" means tank! Its not specific it just means the word "tank". To say german "Panzer Tank" you just said "German Tank Tank". Panzer in German just means a tank not a specific tank... Just sayin . I here this all the time, it's a slightly wrong way to refer to German Panzers , if you mean a specific one.
It was hitler who cause the misfortune of the german army in the east
Because France is much smaller than Russia, the “blitzkrieg” works very well in this situation. 2 million troops with lots of armor and aircraft attacking on a much smaller area is just simply overwhelming .
The original Sherman was a death trap until the British fitted their 17lb gun into it which enabled it to penetrate a Tiger tank from long ranges.
The M3 75mm gun motor carriage were very successful in the Philippians in 1942. Not so much in Africa. They were never used in Europe by US forces although the British used them in Italy. Overall a failed concept.
How would these tanks have fared against the 4 Panzer Tank Army GROUPS ( 4000 TANKS) of 1941, that attacked SIMULTANEOUSLY or even the 2 Panzer Armies( the rest destroyed by the Soviets) at Kursk. Luckily ( and probabaly why the US decided on D Day, in '44) the US army never had to face the Panzer army at its peak in strength, numbers ,morale and experience. So I find this video pointless other than to create a false impression ( of Allied importance) in the minds of those uninforned of the Eastern Front.
The Americans had a 16"Tank the M54
Lol....americun* cry baby...
No mention. Of. British. 17 pounder fitted. To some. Sherman's. ??
I can feel TIK begin to tweak
Oh no, premature non-pentration...
