I went on a school trip on a ferry on the Tyne back in the early sixties. All I remember is the smell of the engines as we chugged up the river, and that I ate a bag of Quavers for the first time. I loved seeing the boats working in the shuddering rain. So sad that it’s all gone now.

This is the fistral beach i remember. Before all the renovations and sky high parking prices i had a vw t2 van and use to basically live on that carpark. The 90s were the best in newquay. Super laid back. Baja tops and long hair. What a killer time to live through.

I was privileged to live in Dittisham & Dartmouth 1993-2001 and the Red Arrows made all that tourism worthwhile!! We always sat in a field beside Dittisham and you always got some really amazing close fly pasts. I also worked at the Dart Marina Hotel 1997-2001 so that was a super special vantage point too. I loved watching the crowds gather in every spot in the higher ferry slip and everything. And you knew they were coming as the ferry would suddenly stop. Great days.

Summer 1957, I was about four months old. Made my day viewing this, as at 1:56 there is a parked ultra rare Singer SM1500 saloon in metallic blue. As a Singer enthusiast I own a 1956 Singer Hunter saloon equally as rare. I know this is all useless information 😊

It’s amazing how beautiful everything was back then before the place was taken over by long-haired crack addicts who claim they don’t have money yet have full sleeves of tattoos, full coverage on chest and back, walking around, asking for a handout so they can buy more drugs

What a 'time-capsule'. I was living on Pendrell Street, not far from where you were on the beach. And strangely, I still have a 1990 calendar, that I saved because it was commemorating the centennial of trams and buses in the region.

Great film I came to Whitley Bay in 1963, aged 5 and remember going over to South Shields several times on the old ferries. My mum used to like going the South Shields market 😂 My late father used to be a chief engineer at sea, but came ashore when I was born, although of course he still liked engines and ships. He would always ask the ferry staff if they would take the wee lad (me) down to see the engine room. The first time, maybe even the 2nd I enjoyed it, but every trip... yawn. At one stage I did fancy going to sea too, the idea of walking around in white uniform and eating with passengers, while sailing down to cape Town seemed good fun .. When I learnt I wouldn't start out as 'Chief' I decided to pick a different career.
