    Beautifully shot video. Very informative on the lure and tranquility of salmon fishing. Dion's information of the lack of Canadian science on the negative role of seals, particularly the 7+million Harp seals, play in the balancing of predation in our aquatic system was enlightening.

    Fine and interesting video.. and experiences of your salmon angling culture and opportunity across the Atlantic for salmo salar.. mind you your rods are a wee bit short..but the wadibg is as ..challenging.... Salmon on the dry fly. It could tempt me to endure a flight..and wade with a short rod .. Simon Artley Manchester UK

    hi although i no longer salmon fish due to disability im still very concerned about the salmon stocks im 60 years old now and when i was a kid i spent my summers going on the coastal boats with my father we fished for everything everywhere when ever we could and i caught some huge salmon dad had a policy of releasing female fish and most large salmon or the big breeders as he called them i have seen 50 plus pound salmon caught by commercial fisherman in labrador many times i have read everything i could find about salmon in this province and its really amazing that there are any left at all the big decline happened quickly in the 1800s as salmon canneries set up everywhere i could go on and on but ill get to the point of what i want to say we are always looking for things to blame for the loss of salmon and while overfishing and fish farms play a role in this we never talk much about solutions why dont we have a restocking program here as it has been done in the states with great success and of course what bill maynard has done at the torrent while it was a bit controversial as it led to more grilse and less big salmon it did work and the torrent is the go to river for grilse so i was very happy to see you talk about this subject i wonder if this has been discussed by dfo or the province is there any one out there who has info on this subject or how we could get the government to consider a restocking program

    What wonderful memories to have of your dad. A great video. As I watch this, I have memories of my father , Patrick Byrne (Micheal’s Uncle). My father also loved the outdoors and could also tell a story. I can remember my dad speaking very fondly of your father. Sincere Condolences to all the Byrne Family. Your dad had a wonderful life and a wonderful family Take Care, Carol Langthorne (Byrne)

    So sorry for your loss Terry and family. Mick was a great man. I always loved visiting him at the camp and would sit and listen for hours. I always took comfort in knowing Mick was just across the brook as we grew up as cabin neighbors. Especially in later years as I went to the cabin alone. I had the pleasure of one last visit during the fall of 2022. My family and I just returned from 8 years living overseas and on this particular day we packed a lunch and drove our quad and sxs up the new road and made our way to all the places that were special to me as a kid. When we got to Star, your dad, Todd and a friend were out front on the deck relaxing. We chatted for a bit and I asked your dad if he would mind us having our lunch on the deck. Not only did he not mind, he put the kettle on and insisted we have a hot drink as well. He toured me through the new-to-me cabin and was very proud of all that was on display. At that time I was unaware of your dad's health issues and his memory of me as a little kid from across the brook was spot on. Only after I went outside and spoke with Todd was I made aware. Having said that, it was not present that day. I'm glad I got to visit on a good day. This video you all have as an everlasting memory is perfect. It captures the true Mick. May he now rest in peace. I will always remember him as a great outdoorsman and great story teller. Condolences to you all. Great work on your channel too by the way. Take care.

    have you ever tried using a spey rod 2 hander way easier on the body I love it you can throw the fly twice as far with 1\3rd of the energy.

  • @tightloopstightlines
    @tightloopstightlines4 ай бұрын

    Absolutely. There’s a few rivers here where a 2 hander is key. Check out season 2 episodes 6 & 9. In the rivers we fish here the dry fly fishing is just too good to purely swing flies - and that’s what drives us! Where are you fishing Eric? Thanks for watching :)

    @@tightloopstightlines I live on Vancouver Island steelhead and salmon here. I've never caught an Atlantic before. theres 1 river up near sayward that has had atlantics but just small ones and if there caught there killed there from net pens but 1 day I hope to fish an east coast river and hook 1.
