Paul Thompson the starting QB for Oklahoma was a WR for them the year before. He only got the starting QB job because Rhett Bomar was dismissed from the team. Thompson was not a good QB.

  • @CollegeFootballLegends

Rhett Bomar's issues on and off the field really left a void at the QB position. His story is quite interesting as well. What was your opinion of that game? Ya think OU was a depleted version of themselves or did Boise make a legitimate statement as an elite team?

BSU was the only undefeated college team at the end of the regular season, and no one wanted to give them any kind of chance to win their bowl game. It was so sweet to watch that come from behind win! The success consistantly continued in the decades since.

  • @CollegeFootballLegends

That win did prove that Boise State belonged among the best teams in college football. Although Ohio State and Florida played for the BSC title it would have been hard pressed to leave out either one of those teams in favor of Boise. I really wish they had the playoff system back then. That would have removed all doubt.

@@CollegeFootballLegends I heard. George Teague mentioned it on his channel where he breaks down Zabien Brown and Dre Kirkpatrick Jr’s high school highlights with his DB coach from when he was with the Cowboys. Rlly excited things were said about Zabien. I was 4 and barely remember the NC game vs. Miami. My brother and I grew up with the lore of The Bear and all these great players. My dad also had (still has) the SI that covered the ‘92 NC game with Bama RB Lassic on the cover. We just absolutely destroyed them. That secondary was absolutely ridiculous. Rlly the defense as a whole but that secondary made plays all throughout the season like the AU game, SECCG and NC. The day I turned 21 we made Tebow cry and were heading to the NC game and it’s been gravy ever since. Roll Tide, brethren!
