    Also something to note... Some bat's are much heavier swinging and vice versa... For example, Just because you get a 28 drop 10 (18oz) bat doesn't ALWAYS mean that it's going to feel lighter swinging than a 29 drop 10.. There are alot of variables that go into the feel of the bat (how the bat is balanced etc.) so keep that in mind as well!

    The reason pitchers were throwing 20-30 complete games per year back then was because they weren't throwing as hard and thus less wear and tear on their arms. That's also why Ruth could get away with swinging a 53-ounce bat. Maybe the Babe could make it in today's game but he would have to switch to a much lighter bat, tighten up his swing and follow a serious training regimen, ie something more than lifting beers and hot dogs.

  • @hallowseve1698
    @hallowseve16982 жыл бұрын

    Pitchers threw just as hard back then, with much better stamina. They did not need pulled in fences, shortened walls, lighter bats, and Ped's in order to perform like your cowards do.

  • @victorunger
    @victorunger Жыл бұрын

    Stop trolling, they did not and they all know it. Pitchers from 20s inspired the pitcher of the 30s and so on. Nolan Ryan was notorious for his heat and revered by all as he was the first to hit 101. Now the top 10% can hit trip. As to stamina, they didn't throw as hard, and giving up runs wasn't as micromanaged. If your pitcher blew the game, he's finishing why waste an arm.

    Please let us know why you think after 100 years there’s been no change to velocity? While I do believe a hand full could throw in the 90’s in the early 1900’s, it’s no where close to what it is today. It’s a well known fact a MLB fastball has increased year after year to what it is today but back then there was no technology to record velocity. My opinion is based off common sense.

    @@bobbybrownbaseball9590 Ruth caught up to the fastest throwers of his day, Johnson, Hubbell, Gomez, and even homered in an exhibition off of Satchel Paige. He was a front foot hitter, same as Hank Aaron and Ichiro. Where I think he’d struggle is with today’s sliders and cutters. That would eat into his average. The power numbers would be similar. Of course, he’d have to swing a lighter bat.

    Lay a stick across home plate kind of diagonal from slightly rt in back to between 2nd and 3rd in front. Take your knob down that path(other way for lefty) tightly fasten a wrist or ankle weight around bat just above hands(you may have to put a rubber resistance band around bat between bat and weight so it's secure and won't slip at All. Then do overload/underload off the tee. Boom. It's free. Not only trains hands to the bat, but increases speed and incorporates propper bat/shoulder tilt mechanics. Rock the baby. Thank me later😁

    Dude the pitchers back then threw just as hard as today me Not to mention Ruth was a pitcher too and he hit because back then pitchers had way more stamina and it wasn’t like today where there’s pitchers only, and his swing you might say there’s flaws but he hit 714 hr back then so today with much lighter bats he would destroy mlb

    @@robnewman7952 I think the knob to the ball concept is more intended to help with the initiation of the swing, gets the bat on plane early like a lot of modern hitting philosophies talk about. Obviously extending the knob too far is going to create a quirky swing as well. Every hitter uses their body slightly different than others so the knob concept may work for someone that locks out too early.

  • @pauln6335
    @pauln63353 жыл бұрын

    Knob to the ball is just a cue...not a literal translation of what to do. As far as slowing down bat speed, that is true, but that information pertains to barrel weights not knob weights.

  • @zebman9228
    @zebman92283 жыл бұрын

    @@robnewman7952 There is a short part rather early in the swing that is knob to the ball, but not as long or late as most coaches try to incorrectly train kids. Fortunatly, we have lots of actual slow motion swing these days, even Ted Williams. Just carefully see what the good swings do and try to imitate.
