    When Mistland released the difficulty isnt as bad as Ashland. I get it Ashland meant to be harder than prev. Biomes (Mistland), but when Mistland came out before patch nerf is still tolerable than Ashland. As for my opinion whether flametal sinking or not, Im agree and disagree.

    To me the biggest BS about Ashlands is how all the mobs are immune to lava. You can't even build stone structures above lava (not touching the lava) because they immediately get destroyed.. And yet we're expected to believe the mobs can just casually wade thru lava and don't get incinerated? Also there is a lot of these ultra-dark nights where you literally can't see shit. But unfortunately not being able to see is a bit of a theme in this game.

    I beat the Ashlands on PTB and while hard, was doable. What I wished they would have done was reduce the natural spawn rate in the zone and greatly increase destroyable spawners in the zone that way you conquer your way through the zone and get to harness the resources in the area once you do. Also, people really just need to learn how to use the mobs against themselves and not just bash their faces against each and every mob.

  • @gamestar.nation
    @gamestar.nationАй бұрын

    I completely agree! I think the charred spawners should be the control switch for charred area spawning. More spawners throughout the zone, but local charred spawn rates drastically cut as the spawners are destroyed. It would really give players a sense of accomplishment. I feel more zones should be interactive like this too. Like the mist in mistlands should vanish once a local dungeon is destroyed OR, better yet, all mist is gone once the queen is dead.

    Personally playing with 1-3 other players this concerns me. The game has always been most balanced for playing with 2-4 people. But if you have 2 bonemass powers, you can steamroll most content except Mist and Ashlands. I like how you have to manage your surroundings a little or else things snowball. I welcome the lowered max spawns, and some minor tweaks, bc solo play does seem far fetched, but most people are not using the tools provided, tamed askvins are OP, nevermind if u get a * one, weather shields to stop fireballs when crossing lava, trollstaff to aid in fortress clearing, make outposts with the infinite grausten the biome shoves in your inventory. Don't see the point of the spires not sinking, it was a really creative way to scale resources to the # of players playing and doing this won't really make them easier.

    First, some context. I usually roam the Ashlands with my two buddies. Which helps to be fair. That said the me over the first week or two of playing in the Ashlands would’ve agreed with you. The difficulty spike was jarring to say the least. Death was constant and my skills plummeted. Spent a lot of time running and trying to place a portal to dip out. However I’m now reaching the “end” of this biome, about to face the boss after doing pretty much everything else, and I can say with 100% confidence you..and old me..are wrong. Ashlands should be this hard. And the Great North should be even harder. It’s true END GAME content. The emphasis should be less on upgrading new weapons and armor and more on combat skills and using your knowledge of enemy weaknesses and resistants. Learning the terrain and how to use it to your advantage. Using your building skills to help. You shouldn’t be able to just spam enemies with an upgraded weapon and survive. This update has NERFED the Ashlands to oblivion to a point where it’s lost its identity. Increase spawn rates a little more (not as much as before) and bring back the sinking Flametal Node..maybe just make it slower.

    Imagine having a skill issue to the point that you have to get the devs to nerf the game when they already added lobby settings to make it so you could basically 1shot the mobs 😮‍💨 now they made salt bombs useless. Theres no actual threat to going to the ashlands. When i landed there with my friend we both died of course. That made the game 10x better when we figured out what we needed to do to settle. I dont get why they couldnt add a slider instead of nerfing the game for the decent players who enjoy a challenge.

  • @PublicParkingEntertainment
    @PublicParkingEntertainmentАй бұрын

    Not to mention theres literally big glowing spawners that you can destroy from miles away with a crossbow to PREVENT the enemies from mass spawning. You have 6year olds wanting to just run in an advance biome with no challenge whatsoever. Then the lack of patience causes them to quit early an cry to the devs to make things easier WHEN THEY ALREADY ADDED A DIFFICULTY SLIDER. Why do the good players have to suffer for the bad ones

  • @gamestar.nation

    Those spawners don't activate until you get close. They are not the reason for the mass spawning... although being close to one makes the whole matter alot worse.

  • @PublicParkingEntertainment

    @@gamestar.nation the only problem my friend an I ever had was establishing a small base at the shore to plop a teleporter down. The reason for that problem was because we wasted time fighting the spawned mobs instead of killing the spawner. Soon as we killed the spawner an trained the mobs away from the shore we made tiny base an everything else fell into place.

  • @gamestar.nation
    @gamestar.nationАй бұрын

    @@PublicParkingEntertainment landing on shore and creating a forward base, was the most difficult for me as well. I don’t think anything getting tuned in this patch will affect that, though. I would be cool for an additional switch to be added to the server options for sinking flametal spires. I like the tuning down of the charred though. Fighting them constantly gets old. All of the really hard mobs were not affected by the patch.

  • @PublicParkingEntertainment
    @PublicParkingEntertainmentАй бұрын

    @@gamestar.nation You're not forced to fight them. You best believe running away and actively collecting things was about 60% of the game when i landed there. I'd even argue that the vultures were a bigger threat since they could keep up but everything else was a matter of cutting them off around the terrain and using the caves as a shelter to de-agro. I really hope they reconsider and add a spawn rate slider so we have choices to play the game how it was meant to be played.

    Ok Ashland’s is supposed to be a super unforgiving place, that’s the entire point of the biom. Reducing enemy spawns is bad enough, but they’re seriously removing the flametal spire mechanic that made them unique? Fucking seriously? All because a bunch of babies were crying about it? Lovely………

  • @gamestar.nation
    @gamestar.nationАй бұрын

    Is having 20% less spawns going to ruin the game for you? Because it's going to save the game for many people. Do you really consider copy and pasting the leviathan mechanics to the spires makes them unique? And "a bunch" is an understatement. I think they made the right choice; It's okay that you don't. Calling people that disagree with you "babies" is pretty sh!t though, really.

  • @hazardous8301
    @hazardous8301Ай бұрын

    @@gamestar.nation Ashlands is meant to feel like a war zone, removing this largely destroys the uniqueness of the biome. Leviathan mechanic with ore does make it unique. Every biome has its own ore specific method to getting the ore that resides within it. Removing the sinking mechanic removes ashlands ore mechanic. A lot of people like Ashlands, in fact it’s been mostly very well received. People complaining about the difficulty in a biome that is literally meant to be really difficult, are in fact babies, and IMO are the same as people complaining about difficulty in a souls like game. It’s supposed to be difficult, get good, learn to adapt, learn how to properly create a base, learn to deal with the hostile environment.

    @@hazardous8301 Thanks for responding- I prefer a conversation. I have 'conquered' Ashlands. I have all the gear and solo raid fortresses. I was actually one of the people praising it, initially. That being said, I am sick of even visiting the zone now because I get bogged down in combat the entire time. That's not fun to me. I like the mobs, themselves. I don't have a strong opinion on the spires (although I don't like them sinking forever; the loss stays with me). But after much time in the zone, the super high spawn rate of mobs seems like a lazy way to make the zone difficult. After all, Valheim is not a souls game and Ashlands is not the final zone (Deep North inbound).

  • @hazardous8301

    @@gamestar.nation extensive combat zone is ashlands thing. Again it’s meant to be like a warzone. High spawn rates fit that MO. Not strictly a zone of powerful enemies, but a warzone filled with armies.

  • @gamestar.nation
    @gamestar.nationАй бұрын

    @@hazardous8301 Asking seriously, where did you hear that it's a warzone? There are no enemies there that are fighting the charred in any significant way, until the player arrives. I probably missed some interview with the developers, but I don't see how they made it a warzone when there aren't at least two warring factions. I appreciated the difficulty when I first arrived. It wasn't until I was spending my days in Ashland on a regular basis that I got sick of the excessive combat. The mechanic I would love to see added is that the overall charred spawn rate is based on how many spawners are up. As you eliminate the spawner stones, you cut the charred spawn rate in that local area by a significant amount (40%+). As for the flametal spires, I don't mind them sinking, I would just like to see them resurface after some time (10-20 in-game days, maybe ). Until the last metal is mined, at least. You have any thoughts on a compromise like that?

  • @HandyHanderson

    I think some of the systems and tools you are provided as a player are not efficient enough or at least out of line with what they're asking of the player now. For example in mistlands not being able to aim up or down with weapons in a highly vertical biome was bad but at least we had magic. The mistlands has a lot of issues but I won't be my main focus here. Blocking is broken and sends you flying way too far. Parrying/staggering, it was good for a while but even as far as the Plains cracks started to show. When parrying or stunning them loxes/seeker soilders sometimes you'd get sent flying not being able to capitalize on the parry/stun. They would also spin 180 degrees and for the soilders this was asinine no weakpot hits for you. I think they realized blocking is bad with the new cape they added in ashlands ngl. Still doesn't really help when the enemies don't stun very long and the warriors push you just far enough away to miss your window of damage.

  • @rickmalinger5361
    @rickmalinger5361Ай бұрын

    Sneaking is kinda pointless in it's current state. It's just too slow. Perhaps the current slow sneak consume no stamina but pressing the sprint while in sneak makes you move faster and consume stamina. It would look like how it is in Elden Ring basically. Greatswords sometimes hit multiple enemies but most of the time hits one. You'd think it would have some cleave but nah the atgear and hammer are the only reliable way to do any aoe unless your a mage. The poke 90% of the time hits one enemy. Even when they are staked back to back. At that point why can't you free aim the poke? I think the Atgear was the crutch holding the old combat system together, now it's magic. Melee needs a revamp. The weapons used to work like tools. If your surrounded use atgear if you need range use bow, quick hits/dps knife, need to parry use a shield. And it was fun but now magic is here to stay melee combat needs to evolve. Better move sets, a rework to parrying so it consumes less stamina, knock back and perhaps gives a quick buff where you attack quicker after parrying based on the weapon helping clubs and greatswords. Give the great hammers an actual moveset.

    So it’s going to be a ghost town now? It wasn’t really bad before. Mix in ranged attacks and reposition if needed, the enemies are slow so escaping isn’t difficult. It’s an advanced biome in a survival game. You take the time to make the best provisions and best gear and lay siege to the new biome. It’s not supposed to the Black Forest all over again where you just run in there grab everything right away and be done. It gets easier as you progress just like the biomes before, even still I find my mistlands weapons (Mistwalker and Spinesnap) to be dominant. Never personally used magic but I’ve seen what it can do. New staffs are ridiculously good especially for crowds. I’m happy people are getting changes they’re requesting to make the games more enjoyable. You say you're not mad, but then you throw that shade at the end of your comment. Yes, you can adapt to the ashlands and learn how to manage it, but that doesn't make it fun for everyone. Especialy when you don't know anything about the biome yet. Starting ashlands with my friends was one of the most painful experiences we've had. Getting attacked by 4+ different enemy types that you haven't learned how to fight yet while trying to figure out where all the new resources come from is just infuriating. And even once you know all of the enemies it then just becomes a pain to try to harvest the resources themselves. It's a drastically different feel from the rest of the game and that's not always a good thing. Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing that level of enemy spawns nearby and/or inside the forts that you assault. But the constant stream of enemies is just grating when all you want to do is find out if you're missing some new materials or find more flametal.

    Yes because it makes sense that enemies spawn on the screen in front of you while you're already fighting four creatures that spawned and immediately knew where you were and slowly walked toward you until they actually heard you. Totally good game design and not stupid or bad at all. It's not difficult, its annoying and doesn't promote interesting gameplay or exploration. Especially with a biome that struggles to run at more than three frames in the first place and then drops to one with 5+ enemies.

    I’m so excited for these changes. I don’t mind a challenge but when you have no time to do anything but fight it’s just obnoxious.

    I feel like the flametal mechanic shouldve been kept in even if it was a percentage chance for it to plummet into the lava, kinda changed up the repetitiveness of just farming ore back to back

    I get that. I wouldn’t mind it sinking if it would resurface later. I hated getting interrupted while mining and watching it all sink away forever.

    I disagree, not paying attention and getting swarmed on flametal is entirely the players fault. Well maybe other than when the game randomly spawns the three vultures, other than that flametal as is was good.

    my mates and I completely ditched Ashlands after a while since all we did was fight enemies back to back, no exploring, no fun moments, just back to back combat and it got boring so fast.

    thank god there are still developers out there listening their players, i bought valheim recently and i'm on mountains biome right now but all i heard about ashlands was negative things, its good for me i'll experience the fixed version ☺

    Yea, the biome is cool, but the number of mobs has been stupid high and the metal sinking into lava when you mine it is/was not fun. By the time you get there, should be smooth sailing though. 😉👍

    @@gamestar.nation it was awesome. This biome is a war zone maybe if you play alone it is too hard, but we play as a four squad and such nerfs will lose all risk thrill. Especially metall.

    I know this video is suer old, but maybe someone can still answer. Sometimes when you pick up an enemys legendary weapon you can keep the weapon skin forever and sometime you can only keep it till you die with the weapon skin in hand. What is the difference and how to spot it?
