I reckon that often, the TG yobs did stuff simply because they could. The Spits were impressive but I found the idea a bit crass. What would have happened if the Germans showed up in Messerchmits or Panzers?

Actually airworthy WW2 german warbirds are extremely rare, a quick google search tells me around 10 Bf 109s are still flying while the Spit has 60. Same with the Panzers. Plus the germans lost the war so they are not as patriotic.
