    Never had a Sony phone myself, I've had a few LG and lots of Samsungs, also had an HTC back in the day. I had a few iPhones as well (5, 6s, 8, 8 Plus, XR), they were nice but I've always found myself coming back to Android as I just like the OS more, just my personal preference. Currently I use a Galaxie S21, I had 3 S10 Plus before that, I kept buying those since they were the last one to come with a headphone jack. Unfortunately they are rather fragile due to the curved glass, and being an OLED panel, once that screen is cracked its basically totaled. My current phone has held up much better. Never really could get into cell phones like I have with computers, so I kinda just see them as a tool.

    I gave you a thumbs up but I'm not sure why. But I do have a question which has nothing to do with a smart phone. My brother purchased a 2000 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series about 10 years ago. The car was owned by an elderly couple, all service records were provided, and the car was kept in a heated and cooled garage. The Lincoln had about 125,000 miles on the odometer and was extremely clean. The test drive was satisfactory, according to my brother. I used another word for that rebadged Ford. The owner made a point to ask us if we had ever driven a full-size Lincoln because this 2000 model was quite different. And he pressed us on this issue and said it was the worst Lincoln he had ever owned. To make a long story short, this Town Car only gets 14.5 miles per gallon on the highway. I consider myself a fairly good mechanic, but I couldn't find the problem. The car was taken to the Ford/Lincoln dealership, and they came up with nothing. Another mechanic, a good friend, checked the car and he just shook his head and said, "you got what you paid for." Any suggestions. Team Trump USA 2024

    The system of factors that goes into fuel economy is too complex to effectively troubleshoot via social media. 14 to the gallon average even with highway miles sounds typical enough, personally I'd want to drive the car for an extended period of time to get a feel for what's going on. My trips have to be over 80% Highway for my fuel pump fill up average to exceed 20 MPG

    My parents had a 1988 Grand Marquis Colony Park LS wagon and a 1988 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series. These cars were easy to service and got great gas mileage. Both were equipped with 5.0 fuel injected engine. The Town Car actually got about 28 mpg highway and 20 mpg city. The Colony Park about 24 mpg highway and 18 mpg in town. Both cars were "What a Luxury Car Should Be." Sadly, the last real Lincoln Town Car was made in 1997. What followed were Fords with a Lincoln badge.

  • @melvinharris7859
    @melvinharris785911 күн бұрын

    To be fair, the 98+ Town Cars I would say are no more badge engineered than the prior ones. You still had entirely unique bodywork, an entirely unique interior, a unique frame with longer wheelbase, and a shared drivetrain (like with prior models). I can understand not liking the 98+ Town Cars but I don't think saying they are "Fords with a Lincoln badge" is really accurate.

    @@melvinharris7859 i'm seeing both sides here, in my anecdote there is appreciably more comfort and luxury between my 03 GS and the 99 Cartier. but 98+ eliminated more if not all of the traditional slab-sided, squared-off classic Lincoln aesthetic that persevered from the late-60s through the 97. of course i ding on the 1990 for doing away with the bladed fenders and integrated soft-tops. in the end True Town Car is in the eye of the Town Car buyer. For very many buyers, it was the 97. For me, I accept 2011.

    @@iliketowncars They did ditch some of the historic Lincoln styling cues as time went on. Personally I was never into stuff like the Rolls Royce grille and vinyl top anyways so I don't really mind. I think the slab-sided bladed fender thing was kind of played out by the 80s, considering it can be traced all the way back to the '61 Continental, though I do think it was done tastefully on the later 80s Town Cars (the early ones with the pointy fender and quarter tips and totally upright rear end are a bit too much for me). The 98 Town Car looks less like a Town Car and more like a fat '95 Continental. But I would still say it looks like a Lincoln.

    Car looks so much better without the vinyl top. I will say I've never been a huge fan of the look of these personally, but I guess it has grown on me over time. Yours in that color and configuration I think looks relatively sharp. But I do still prefer the second gen or the first gen. Should also note, if you want that car to ride like a first or second gen Town Car, you'd have to swap the front and rear springs. Ford progressively upped the spring rates on these first starting in '95 for the front springs, then in '98 for the rears, and '98 also got heavier duty shock absorbers. The biggest thing is the front springs though. I've known a few people who put the 80-94 front springs in 95-97s with good results. Handling isn't really effected much so long as you don't mess with the stabilizer bars.

  • @iliketowncars

    funny thing is when i changed front springs on my 88 i bought the moog 9114 set which they intend for 98-02 town car. recently i got the front springs and control arms replaced on the 99 this time i bought the Moog 9046 set which moog says is for the older town cars. i think all the moog springs sit higher than factory anyway but the 99 certainly rides really nice with the civilian spec gabriel and motorcraft shocks on it right now. my 88 has heavy duty KYB in the front and i'm OK with them but in the back i have these insane gabriel "load carrier" shocks which i'll be replacing with more KYBs.

    the headlamp has 3 parts, the lens and two assemblies. the inner assembly holds the 9006 adjustable bucket, the outer assembly has the turn signal, corner, and side lamp. baking in the oven was good enough to separate the inner and outer assemblies; but the lamp is big and won't fit in a little oven and the risk of melting it is higher. to get the lens off the outer assembly i had a better time using a heat gun and slowly working around the whole thing. prepare to spend a few nights at it. the sealing material doesn't soften it just cracks which is why all the oem lamps leak. i replaced it with the retrorubber product. i'm not sure if the aftermarket assemblies do things better or worse in these regards. the MLED is a large projector and was tough to fit in these town car lamps.

    Hopefully you can answer a question,was the 91 town car seats a direct bolt in or did you have to modify to mount them in? Always had a love for these cars and might have a chance to get one but leather is bad ,didn’t think of swapping from panther town car was possible

  • @iliketowncars
    @iliketowncars6 ай бұрын

    so i reused the 91 seat frames, the 1st gen frames are different than those used in the later gens. later gens frames have the outboard rear corner elevated and the hole is in a different place. i only bothered doing this because i wanted to upgrade my manual passenger seat to power, so i used the frames out of the 91. i had to drill a hole in the correct place and replace the stud with a long bolt with a 2" or so spacer, i dont remember exactly. what i could've done apparently was just transfer the 91 seats onto the 1st gen frames, if i didn't mind keeping the passenger seat on manual tracks.
