I love big boy 4014
So this is what 150 hp can do...
Jealous to the point of hatred. Oh my goodness. What an experience. You lucky human. Thanks for sharing.
this is awesome.
I was lucky enough to be in Wells, NV when the Big Boy roller through town! It was so exciting to see it!!! ❤❤❤
How much oil does it consume in an hour?
Around 20-25 gallons per mile
Thats one tough PTC panel!
Since you had an opportunity to ride along with the 4014 crew, I have a question. Since 4014 now burns fuel oil rather than coal, is the engine auto fired or does the fireman still have control over the burn rate? Great video. I loved the cab. Decades old technology and an iPad next to the engineer's right arm.
Yes, the fireman is still very busy maintaining fire with oil injection, as well as water and steam pressure. He is making adjustments every 30-40 seconds. The pressure never varied but a few pounds from 300 psi all day. They are professionals for sure!
@@KoryAnderson Thanks for the answer. I thought it would have been more automated, but how much fun would that be.
I hate to say it Kory but I think the Big Boy sounds stronger than the 150. :-0
Haha, it is certainly a beast!
Used to look at it sitting at Pomona wondering if it waa going to rot
What an awesome video!! You guys are truly “The Dudes” of big steam, can’t wait for the 150 // 4014 meetup video someday. 🔥 Cheers Kory, great work as always!!
Great video Kory. Thanks for the upload.
That’s some rich looking soil
Wow super mega cool! What a beautiful vintage machine. Can see why operators were called engineers back in the day. Thanks for the ride bro 👍
Q: HOW MUCH TORQUE THAT GIRL MAKE? A: ALL OF IT!!!
Okay.. im not entirely sure how to react to this. You've done what we all WISH and long to have done and do. Have to ask you, what was it like and how did it feel?
So who reached out to whom for this video?
As an amateur. I would guess your case 150 would have more tractive force to horsepower weight ratio than the big boy. But probably wrong. Such an awesome video.
Welcome to the club! 😎 I got to ride with them on the 844 when I was in high school. Pretty awesome experience!
This machine is ridiculous. Unlimited torque.
How awesome would it be to get a photo shoot with the 150 and 4014 together. That’d be timeless
It’s on Ed and I’s goal list to make happen!
Every steam enthusiasts dream...
What a thrill. Thanks for taking us along👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
How fun is that???
Did he run out of power at the end, or did he stop for space?
I grew up in the Appalachian Mountains sandwiched between 3 huge fields. When he walked behind that plow I could almost smell it. Trying to explain it is like trying to explain the smell of rain on a hot summer day or, the beautiful smell of burning Coal.
Let the tractor crew plow.
THAT CHAIN UP FRONT IS SLACK TOO THAT THING PULLIN FROM THE BACK
TURNIN SOME DIRT
BATTERY GREASE GUN YOU KNOW THEYRE SMART GOOD VID!
Why does the smoke stack make that “pulsing” sound and smoke? Why is it not just a smooth thing of smoke?
glanced at the title of the thumb and thought it was a band releasing a new whatever it is they release now days
Just magnificent! 😍 Slow and steady wins the race!
So is it just that one huge blue piston on the he front left doing all the work
Ich glaube einen 2. Bremswagen hätte er auch genommen!
Amazing!!! Ok, I am sorry, but I wanted to tell that older gentleman to look around before he sits down. He walked up right in your way TWICE and never looked to see that you were trying to record the event. It's so rude. That just drives me nuts. Great video!!!! Thanks for sharing.
To the people taking video/photos: Landscape it !
Incredible machine great job guys
It's really cool to see what humans can accomplish!
I love the plains of America, I'm central Illinois and there are so many old fun toys everywhere. Farmers are america
That engine is in the best hands!!🇺🇲💪🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for keeping the CASE heritage alive, Kory.
I have an 1888-1920s frick size 0 sawmill the rare cast iron husk variant with a crown pully that has a 10 in crown width 2ft diameter 6in hub 6 spokes outer crown thickness of half inch at the edge I need it replaced any advice? Or a vague ballpark of what it would cost I've been doing a ton of research on trying to build the tools to cast it myself but why do that when a professional is available that way I don't end up spilling a crucible of molten iron and winning a Darwin award 😅
Did you make any changes from the original design to make it better than it was in 1905?
So cool. What does it all need
good luck kory. i hop you can find original parts you need. thank you for preserving these historic engines. i loved seeing the 150 at rollag a few years ago.
Oof!
Thank you Kory for all the great work you have done in the past. Looking forward to watching you work your magic on this new project. We all appreciate your historically important restorations. You are The Man!! God Bless.
This is great news🌲
I knew Lloyd. Was a good man. There's a 75 with city grouters in the engine barn at Virginia City, MT that came from him too. Worked the gold fields there.
