All patterdales I've had I've always had first pick of the litters and I aways ended up choosing the smallest females. Never regretted it. I have the most beautiful tiny, long legged all black girl at the moment. I don't work mine like you do but I take her out chasing rabbits on leash and getting in the bushes and brambles and on the game trails and rabbit holes and all the smells and she loves finding a scent and going for it, and if she sees rabbit she's gone straight on it. One of our main commands is "Go Check". She keeps me fit enough for sure lol Beautiful dogs you got there as well.

Got a dobe myself, nearly 1 now and he's 28in to the shoulders and 40kg. Hes a pain in the backside, but I love him to bits! ❤ Never barks at other dogs or people when walking (only stares), but guards the house and barks when people/animals walk past or near our driveway, perfect in that sense for a guard dog. Has an extremly strong prey drive though for wild animals, loves to play rough too. Not sure I would recommend one unless you know what you're in for though...

Dobermans suffer from “ Breed Discrimination” where every Karen will scream at you “Leash Your Dog” based on the “Hollywood Movie Perception” which can also work in your favor when people stray away due to the same perception. Little do they know they’re ALL mamas boys and girls and bed hogs BTW…

I had a male Dobermann called Alby, about the size of this one back in the 80s. He weighed 46kgs & was a ball of muscle. Such great dogs. People used to cross the street when they saw us walking along the footpath 😂 I had to have him put down when he was 9 years old due to his spine pressing on his spinal cord & he couldn't walk. It's fairly common in big dogs but I forget the medical term for it.

I specialize only in dobermanns= woman without taste. After 25 years of dobermanns, I went away from the breed and never looked back in 2012. They are nervous, unhealthy dogs without true working drives. And now, in Eu (or anywhere in the world), if you crop their ears and tails, you have a mix breed because the standard of the breed has changed. Malis and GSDs are the real dogs, more beautiful and with a lot of character.

So to the uneducated people there is nothing wrong with docking and cropping I have one and he’s got championships in 3 countries liked very much by me and everyone that comes into contact with him there are pros and cons so ears are cartridge doesn’t hurt at all and tail if done very early no nerv ends so again no pain for the dog.So let me ask you this would you rather docked and cropped or normal but in a home we’re there’s lots of abuse ? I know my answer my dog has the most Amazing life ever I’m very responsible and love him to bits so people please go educate yourselves

@@lunatheleo Its a double edged sword. My last two Dobes I left the ears uncropped here in the U.S. where it is optional...I have to tell you I had to clean their ears out constantly because Dobes LOVE rolling on the ground to scratch their backs and all sorts of dirt and dust get down in their ears with the wax and when they are cropped it is exposed to more air. They are have much more ear infections. Even my Vet admitted that uncropped get infected much more. The reason they used to crop tails is that sentry and guard dogs (and fighting dogs) would bite each other's ears and tails off in fights, or get them bitten by wild animals, and mostly from getting stepped on or run over while working pulling carts, herding, or slammed or yanked doings sentry work. People used to slam the door on Dobermann when he was collecting taxes or grab his dog's tails. Also their was once a tail tax where each owner in Germany paid a tax on every tail counted by the tax collector. Herr Dobermann, a tax collector and a fan of the Rottie (base stock for the Dobe) and his eventual Dobe, made sure the tails were docked for safety and financial reasons.

@@lunatheleo That is a non sequitur. For you non-lawyers, something can be illegal and not be morally wrong. It's called mala prohibita. Its wrong because the state or kings says it is. As opposed to something like murder, which is morally and legally wrong. But just because something is against the law does not mean it is "wrong," it is merely against code in some state, island, or country.
