Milan Dufek

Milan Dufek

Dear friends,
My name is Milan and welcome in my White Wardrobe. Yes, wardrobe. At the beginning we, me and my hobby, were in a room. A table, a chair, a lamp etc. But with family is it not possible any more. Because I have a great wife, we decidet to build a white wardrobe designed for my hobby.
I usually focus on historical miniatures, figures and busts painted by oil colours but sometimes I paint and build other plastic models. If you like this hobby or you are just curious and want to watch my videos, you are welcome.
Enjoy my videos and welcome in my White Wardrobe.

    Beautiful piece! Following your tutorial, what is your drying strategy? Do you thin the paints, let each layer dry etc.

  • @milandufek8151
    @milandufek81513 ай бұрын

    Thank you very much. There are many myths surrounding oil paints. They stink, take a long time to dry, are shiny...and other nonsense. Mostly from people who don't use oil paints at all... I work with a small amount of paint. The base is always matte (acrylic/enamel doesn't matter). Sometimes I prepare the paint - I suck up the preservative oil. As a thinner, I use linseed oil, AK thinner for enamel - odorless, White Spirit. I let each layer dry for the next day (sometimes more days - it depends on the color used). I'm certainly not in a hurry, it's not a race. Oil paints are about layers. I thin oil paints as needed. Sometimes not at all and sometimes quite a bit. It really depends on what I want to achieve, depict, paint...

    For me, Life Miniatures and Sang-Eon is a cut above everyone else in miniature sculpting. A bust of the late queen has been has been on my mind for years and I even emailed LM back in Nov of 2022. Sang-Eon graciously responded that he had already started a bust of the young princess, and here we are. I will savor the joy I’ll it’ll bring me painting this one and it will be my 5th LM bust. My other absolute favorites are JFK and Sir Winston Churchill. The completed young Elizabeth will park nicely next to my Churchill. Thanks, Milan! 🫡

    Thank you for your comment. I totally agree with you. I consider LM as my top 3 company. Great ideas, great sculpting and great casting quality. It is always a pleasure to paint LM pieces. It sure was a good idea to write LM about the young queen. I also have an idea, so I'll probably write an email :o)) I hope to post a video of the bust painting of the young queen soon. Thank you and regards M.

    Great! Can you give us some more informations about colours that you use? Which ones are acrylic and wich oil? It's seem that Oil are always for shadows and acrilics for light and for the bases. It's right?

  • @milandufek8151
    @milandufek81513 ай бұрын

    Thank you for your question. Acrylic paints are on a wet palette. I use them as base colours under oil paints. Oil paints are on a grey glass palette. I use them for highlights, shadows, tones... Sometimes I go back to acrylic colours to highlight some things, underline...
