  I have a set of new gauges to fit to my Morris Traveller so found this topic interesting however with the camera jumping around so much often not actually on the topic or car part in discussion so I baled out , too hard watch.

  Big tip picked I up from a forum from Carrera4Boy'sDad I discovered these Mercedes W126 springs have a longer "leg" which allows them to be fitted: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12466618...teid=0&campid=&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1 The springs are not quite as substantial as the OEM part, but work just as well. After all, they are only there to keep the shoes square. I splayed the hook out a little more with pliers and this time I used a mirror to look round the back of the shoe retaining plate to absolutely ensure the hooks were properly through the hole and hooked in place. Last edited: 10 Jan 2024 £2.50 each instead of £23 . I have fitted these and so far so good

  I had the same problem as you and used plastic wall plugs to hold the springs in place. Those plugs seem to fit a bit better though. Good job!

  Great Vid John, quick question, when reinstalling the carburetor, is there a gasket that goes between the bottom and the manifold? if so is that gasket part of the repair kit?, thanks in advance

  Thanks. Make sure the adjusters fit properly in the grooves. I bent the channel walls accidentally and had to prise them up again

  Thanks, haven’t thought further than a drive round the block for now. I think the front brake cylinders on the front are part seized, already replaced the master.next Job 😁. Must admit Molly is a real pleasure to work on. Basic and simple. How I like it.

  Doesn’t look pretty on the crossmember, I know but good penetration. Tempted to grind down and retreat, might well do that when other jobs done

  I just used a slide hammer with a hook on the end, few blows and off it came, there no need to remove the suspension strut just the four bolts to the hub then spin the strut around to give yourself access to the 19mm nut on the end of the anti roll bar.

  Also inspect the area where the rear spring hangers are mounted and where the rear wings are bolted on. If you can roll the car on its side on some bags of peat/compost, your life will be easier.

  The big red terminal in the fusebox pulls out to expose a terminal you connect 12v to as well when opening the front or back.

  The PSY registration is a DVLA age-related re-registration series issued around the mid nineties, meaning its original reg was transferred off it or it was imported around then. These marks are not geographical and are sourced from unissued series from the old local registration offices. Such numbers are not normally transferrable for obvious reasons although some do slip through.

  My first car...and the next car and my next car were "moggies"....sure, if you'd got a quid for every time you've heard that that then....you'd probably have about 7 quid....what makes it unusual is that I only started driving in 1997.... they're great to drive and reliable but very thirsty.....good on you mate. Will be interested to see how you get on with it/her......
