Not making summer plans like it's a punishment for things you haven't done but as a reward! this should be stressed so much more often, even in the context of just weekends. my mindset is so much healthier and I enjoy my studies so much more since I started watching your videos 🩷

    Thank you so much for this very informative and insightful video. This gave me a very good inspiration to make more use of my own notes. Comparing yours of that beginner time with my note taking I see a lot of differences. I have a notebook for each textbook I use but I not only write down the grammar structure of each lesson but also do all the exercises in it. This makes my notebooks very chronically but not very useful for revision because all the grammar notes are scattered around the whole book. So watching your video I was wondering if you actually planned on how to take your notes? Because I clearly don’t 😅. If so, how do you plan this to not run out of space when you start another section like those vocab notes from books you’ve read? Or did you do this chronologically? Like bunpo N4 first and then reading the book and then bunpo N3 and so on? And what about your exercises? Did you use a different workbook for them? Sorry for all the questions but this is a really interesting topic and your notes looked veryvhelpful. I’m trying to figure out my own way further on note taking and this was very inspiring.

    Loved the video, basically going through this now as I jump into video games in Japanese and N2 level. The best advice I have for anyone is to reflect on how they learned to read in their native language, and the challenges they faced and what age they learned what skills. Because we all learned how to read once. I think that's the best way to find out what will work for Japanese - to act as if you're a child again learning how to read.

    That's the advantage of looking back on the past as I'm doing in this series, because I am now able to answer the questions I did not even intellectualize back, when I was still struggling at beginner/intermediate level in the language, all in the hope that this will ease you guys' own journey with the language! For used books, you can check out any BookOff store you can find in the city (there are many outlets) :) For new books, in Fukuoka you have a few very good bookstores but I would recommend you the biggest ones which are the Junkudo bookstore in Tenjin area, the Tsutaya bookstore in Ropponmatsu area, and the Maruzen bookstore + Kinokuniya bookstore in the Hakata station mall!! If you don't find there all the books currently commercialized in the country, I honestly don't know where else you can look haha

Really enjoying your content ❤❤❤ Just recently finished my second book in japanese (even though studying the language since 2015😢) and struggled a lot because it was in Kansai dialect 😅 Have you read any book that was not 標準語, maybe also in some dialect? If so, did you try to still look up specific words or grammar ?

  • @arinoyume
    @arinoyume10 күн бұрын

    Yes I did make this experience, without specifically looking for it: one of the short stories by Murakami I have read recently was basically entirely made of dialogs in Kansai-ben, and yes I did look up certain words or structures to ascertain their equivalent in standard japanese :) this is the short story called「イエスタデイ」!

I progressed slowly but steady in Chinese with two italian texbooks I love but I want to study a bit more in July, and I'm kind of forced to learn Slovak (by that I don't mean I'm unhappy studying it but I wouldn't have started such a hard language this soon as Chinese is hard enough lmao) so as I didn't find a lot of resources my goal is just to find a suitable teacher and follow along the courses, I will set real goals later 😊
