Just bumped into your video... Awesome! I'm a paragliding student and since you display such great turning skills, I would like to ask you a technique-related question that is driving me crazy and nobody seems to have a solid answer that makes sense to me: how do you turn and center very small thermals? I can't work out the optimal speed and the required amount of weightshift, inner & outer brake inputs and how to counter wind drift? Thanks in advance!
@basdeweert2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. There are no thermals at the beach so the best is to practisch in the mountains with reall thermals. Some are small and some are big. When you bomb out a thermal you will feel this en a smaller circle is needed. Enjoy !!

@@basdeweert Thank you very much for your prompt reply! I know there are no thermals at the beach, and I'm currently practicing my thermal turning and coring in the mountains. The problem is, at the time of the day I fly, thermals are thin and elusive... and I can't seem to get the most out of them, and I know it has a lot to do with my poor turning skills... Your turning skills are simply outstanding, very few pilots have those skills, so my question to you is: How do you make low radius turns to stay in thin thermals? I'm not interested in the circling or coring methods, just the way you execute tight turns without degrading performance... Inner brake hold and pump when necessary, and steady outer break? Fixed inner brake and pumping the outer to stay coordinated? You weightshift hard and very efficiently, and it's clear that it is a must, I'll try to analyze your position and will try to mimic that ;). I really appreciate your help on this matter, it could mean a difference of months or years in my flying performance....
@basdeweert2 жыл бұрын
@@sgdran just keep your glider as horizontal as possible. There are many ways to core en to have maximal rendement but what i do is keep the inner brakes in 1 position and control with the outer.

@blithestudios58464 жыл бұрын
From what I can tell but also doubt is that the dunes of sand are big enough that the wind flows up (similar to how wind reacts to dams look up "Dropling water ontop of a dam") thus giving the parachutes air to be able to glide like that because it's coming UP if that makes sense
