Brian started Aviate Alabama as a hobby to curate his videos from planespotting adventures he took. After finding success with such viral videos as Michael Jordan's private GulfStream G550 (#N236MJ) and Chase Elliott piloting his personal Cessna 525 #N9CE, Brian, found himself knee deep in a new business built around his passion.
Besides watching airplanes for a living, Brian is most proud of the loyal community surrounding planespotting. It is their support that keeps Aviate Alabama in the air. Brian is also proud to show his kids that you can actually be successful chasing your dreams and to never give up on them.

A little late to the party here, but that was a nice catch on the Delta 737 Skyteam livery!
My brother was a flight nurse with Air Methods for several years. (Same company livery). Those appear to be skid floats. Prob a $100k add on to keep the craft upright if possible in a water ditching because water egress training is an entire thing. My brother lives in nearby Pensacola. I’m near 2 Level 1 hospitals and can tell helo types by sound. That’s clearly a 407. We have 2 rare MD-900s here for med flights. Very quiet with the NOTAR.
I was down in Nashville yesterday at the airport ❤ awesome video
Thanks man! This was all taken over that weekend we met. Did anything interesting come through yesterday?
@@aviatealabama saw the 777 on runway 2L and a C130 took off on the far runway 2R
Great video.
Thank you!!!
Fantastic video and work as always! Keep up it and certainly hope you had a wonderful time in the makings of all your amazing contents 🔥💯👍
Thank you very much!
It’s a Honda-Jet. Nice but who are these people?
The guy was a football player at Auburn University and now sells life insurance but was recently in the news due to his now ex-wife having an affair and trying to hire a hitman to have him killed but the plot was foiled. The woman he's seen with in this video is a reality TV star who has been in the news a lot lately too because of her parents being convicted of federal crimes and now serving prison sentences.
@@aviatealabama oh wow. I thought it might’ve been a new hire and his wife.
IP just wasn't gonna let the kid in front actually land was he, lol. Update to your published specs here though: The T-6A max true airspeed is actually 272 knots, or 320 mph, and this is at altitudes of about 23,000 ft or higher depending on air temperature aloft.
Appreciate the spec clarification! Thanks for checking out the vid!
Had the joy of a lifetime as a crewmember on a dc3 in 2010 on mission flights to Haiti, both on radial and turbo prop engines
Thats awesome!
New subscriber here! Thanks for the channel! (From Shelby County!)
Hey man! Thank you so much for the subscription and the support. Once the kids are back in school I am planning to be at the Birmingham airport several times a week!
@@aviatealabama Just curious. Where do you usually set up for video? Do you have one particular place, or does it depend on which way takeoffs and landings are done (whichever way the airport is "flipped")?
@davidreed4661 I almost ALWAYS will film from the parking deck at the airport and just depending on which way the wind blows will determine which end of the deck I’ll set up on. I’m not that big of a fan of the area along east lake blvd and the police won’t let me go on top of the hill but once I did make it up there and it was amazing would love it if they’d set up a small dedicated viewing area up there as it is airport property! But yea can’t go wrong with the parking deck - also helps that it seems somewhat safer than being on the side of the road in BHM!
@aviatealabama Yeah, that makes perfect sense! I figured as much. I saw one of your videos where you set up on the northeast end. Tremendous view where you were able to follow approaches all the way in, with great shots of the aircraft as they passed you. But, Bham PD has to do their thing. I agree wholeheartedly with the parking deck option. Given the crime in Birmingham, it's considerably safer.
I love that plane!
Btween 3:33 and 3:336 a very large bird can be seen flapping above and behind the plane up in the clouds. What the hell. Best to see slowed to 0.25 of normal speed.
I've been amazed at how many near misses like that I see when reviewing my footage. I wonder how close it actually is in the air!
At 2:40 mark its strange to see how little the propellers appear to be spinning. I mean i realize it is an optical illusion but still looks strange.
Anybody see the "Flight of the phoenix'?
Such a beautiful airplane.......
Who in the world are they?

@@aviatealabama I don’t know why I have to see random people like this in my feed.
@bertraminc9412 I’m guessing YT thinks you either like planes, football or celebrity tv 🤷♂️
@@aviatealabama that’s why they suck.
I think there were 3 landings
Amazing gracias !!!!!!!!!!!!
😊He seems to have gotten little power out of either engine.
What a magnificent design, this is one of if not the most durable and forgiving passenger planes ever built.
Who???
What airport?
You missed a spot over by the lawn gnome.
When The Sound of Music came out, this is really what they meant!
Awesome ! 😎
We hope to see Dan walking that well again soon!
You need to lookup Buffalo airline in YellowKnife Canada as they still fly DC3 and others.
1930’s and still flying.👍🏽 Donald Wills Douglas. Wow, look her rise into the wind .
Great and wonderful video as always, spectacular spots thanks for sharing, and keep up the amazing work 👍💙🙌🔥
Both my uncles flew in WW2 ( one in Bomber Command then Africa, the other in P40 in Pacific South West. Both came back and both flew DC 3 aircraft for an Australian airline. I flew in a DC3 many years ago. Lovely aircraft, lovely sound.
Magnificent antique, still flyable and operational
I dunno man...Gryder is a shady character who breaks the rules as he sees fit. Seems like a bit of an arrogant cuss.
I was just sitting here watching and kinda day dreaming. I was thinking has anyone tried copying this bird with jet engines? Guess that would be the 737’ claim to fame. Great film.
I’ve seen that one land at kbhm a few times I go right in front of runway 24 and go on top of one of the hills and it feels like you can touch the jets
Probable cause is air worthy mechanically sound aircraft.
Cool video. That's the MC-130J with the Silent Knight radar.
I’m from Missouri where we have some French places…and any French place in NA is a unique one. This trijet thing is still wild to me as a guy old enough to remember trijets. Their entire fleet catalog will live on forever or die tomm and I don’t know which, but I’m inclined to say live on. The French have a way of hanging on. That said…most of their jets are stuck in 70s era biz jet design.
900LX 👍
DC3カッコイイなー。飛んでる時はなんか鳥っぽいよね。 頑丈、長持ち、どこでも使える、万能飛行機。 この機体、頑張って長持ちしてほしいです。
Is this Birmingham, AL?
Yes!
Hai from Cocos island resort Border Australia Indonesia
My dad's best friend Bob Mahr flew the C-47 variant multiple times in the Berlin Airlift.
Love that jet
What a beauty!
It can float a long time. There are lots of opportunities to get wonky.
Nice of them to wave 👋
Where is the banner?
I’ve seen worse…
The trees, Dan! Aim for the trees!!!
Took my first plane ride in a DC-3 around the ages of 3-4. Flew from Huntsville, AL to Little Rock, AR w/ a stopover in Memphis, TN. I still remember the thunderstorms my goodness
I do baseball work for college and a minor league team. Few folks appreciate how much you have to move around the tripod to capture to get action and steady with planes. It’s a lot of Doppler action. When I’m on 1st base camera I’m always leaning right, barely able to see the viewfinder, but knowing I’m shifting left with my body/weight to get the play at first. It’s very tough to physically walk out a basic 180 degree move smoothly. Try on planes that no one cares then work up to jets and then ones worth uploading a vid for.
