Ficarra Classic is where you'll watch John Ficarra's car history serenades, ill-advised automotive adventures, and work on questionable classics. Yes, when John isn't on VINwiki or Car Trek he does have a life of his own.
Being a 928 owner since 2008, I am baffled as to why you would do this to a poor old 928. If you thought a road-going 928 was a money pit, then an offroad 928 is a blackhole for money. And frankly, it seems unlikely your '79 car even has a Limited Slip Diff, which makes it very dodgy offroad, anyway! And let's be clear here: Friends don't let friends buy a 928. Bankruptcy and divorce usually follow. :P

Thanks for the good content. Safari 928 is cool, haven't seen anyone build this before. Porsche built 924 and 911 rally versions in the 70s/80s. Own 924 S for street/race and CJ7 Renegade for offroad. Proper mud flaps and large old Scholl Bosch/Piaa lights in the front I think would have lifted the rally appearance.

Thank you! Attending a Connecticut Boarding school in the 80's, Benihana's was the local go-to restaurant that visiting parents would take their kids and classmates, and fill the whole table/grill......We'd eat there at least 2 times a month😍 Rocky was Cool😎

Use basic modeling clear coat like Tamiya gloss clear. It works on every acrylic paint, at least I couldn't find one that wasn't workung with it.

There were quite a few 6 wheel conversions done in the UK. some airfield fire appliances, some conventional bodied. Someone locally to me in the late 1980s had a 6 wheel Range Rover convertible. Another fun conversion was shortening the chassis to make a Range Rover bobtail, made them into serious off road machines. FWIW Wood and Pickett were well known for their Range Rover (and Mini) conversions, I visited them way back and remember them working on a 6 wheel Range Rover that was also widened, a commission for someone wealthy in the Middle East. Of course there were also Schuler Presses (later Overfinch) that fitted them with the small block Chevrolet V8 as well as other significant upgrades.

I think racing before the mid '70s or so was the most interesting time because everyone likes a good "becoming" story of how people didn't know anything, but they learned how and beat out everyone else by trying crazy things. You can sort of tell similar stories today, but the things people are learning today are both restricted by the rules and are getting so much more technical and detailed that it's much harder to explain or follow for most people.

Going through Flagstaff to miss the snow. 😂😂😂 Flagstaff is in the top ten cities in the US for inches of snowfall per year. Most people would never guess since it's only two hours north of Phoenix.
