    Hey Slamo, I've been. Looking at replacing my pickups in my 1996 Gibson Les Paul Standard with the DiMarzio PAF 59 Bridget n Neck or the DiMarzio PAF Bridge Master and Neck or the 36th Anniversary Bridge n Neck, now After watching your review I'm not 100% sure. 😊 Your set up with the DiMarzio Super Distortion (DP100)? Bridge and 36th Anniversary neck sounds great.. And so does the the 57 PAF. I'm also looking for that old school PAF pick up look no cover relic white or cream... And I like the Joe Bonamassa sound that's what I was looking for.. What would you recommend?

    Haha you just said what I have been thinking. The 36th is probably their best set if you want more of a punchy rock and roll sound. I would like to try the PAF Master bridge myself but I recently swapped the A2 magnet in the bridge 57 with a rough cast A4 and it gave it a little more bark and slightly more output. The stock A2 was great, I just like A4 in the bridge. I am not sure if I like it better but I am going to run it for a while and see. It's definitely a cool hot PAF bridge sound. They are great pickups and they make it hard to choose, which is why I did the videos. ;)

    @@franklinslamo If the 36ers have that punchy rock n roll sound, what would you say the 57s sound like? More JB / Led Zeppelin sounding.?

    This is not how you're supposed to setup that bridge. That clanking noise you're hearing when you move the bar should not be happening.

    Hi great video. A question. When I need to set up vibrato from zero. I can’t stand it right when I tune strings. It moves up by its back and doesn’t still parallel. I don’t understand the setting before put new stings on. Any help ?

  • @franklinslamo
    @franklinslamoАй бұрын

    You have to balance the string tension against the spring tension at pitch. This takes some tweaking but once you get it you should not have to adjust it unless you change string gauges.

    I appreciate you doing this man because I too *love* *Dimarzio* ,I also love Seymour Duncan, EMG, & Fender. But I can totally say that you're carrying the torch for a reallly great company! I might even go as far to say that *if* I was an endorsed musician that I would settle on *DiMarzio* and be completely happy forever!! Look at Paul Gilbert .... They're making pickups to his specs!! Totally awesome...

    At this point I feel the same. I could be happy with using DiMarzio pickups exclusively myself, however, my customers like variety and I agree with that as well, which is why we offer and test all of the popular brands. More to come on that....

    Not easy to compare when it played in different guitars and not A/B side by side, like neck clean to neck clean, neck crunch to neck crunch to neck crunch, and so on. Duncan and Fralin sound samples are really good examples, but nothing from dimarzio.

    Great demo! I've been looking for a demo of the new PAF 57. I'm a bit DiMarzio fan too. The Super Distortion and Tone Zone are my two favorite bridge pickups of all time. I've been using Super Distortions since 1985 or so when I popped one into a Kramer Baretta to replace the Duncan JB which just wasn't working for me. The Super D is great for anything from classic rock to metal, and that's sort of the territory where I play, and I play what I'd call instrumental jam band/space rock, like Mahogany Rush meets UFO and a bit of Zep and Rush and Purple. The Super D handles this territory well. As for the 57 PAF, I find in your demo that it definitely does the jangly middle position very well. Page would dig it. Great harmonics too. I would call it a rawer but more vintage version of the 36th Anniversary PAF.

    Frank, Thank you for an excellent instructional video. I watched the John Mann videos a couple of times in preparation for installing the JM bridge on my 2023 PRS CE 24. Your video added a couple of tips that were incremental to JM's videos. Much appreciated. Would appreciate your opinion of the top benefits you get from the bridge. I am hoping for: Increased sustain, better intonation, smoother whammy bar. Best - Dave

    I have to say, after spending some time with them these are some really impressive sounding pickups. It sounded great before with the Thornbuckers but the Wolfetones take it to a different place. The Thornbuckers are more modern sounding while the Wolfetones are more "vintage PAF" sounding and a little sweeter. The MkII bridge pickup is really special and plenty hot for rock-n-roll. :)

    I'm looking into this guitar at the moment. For me it's a toss up between this guitar in Bengal Burst or the Harley Benton SC-550 II Les Paul style guitar. Just be aware that the Fusion T comes with two different types of pickups. The pink and solid blue variants have Roswell HAF pickups which are more modern (more treble, less mids) with higher output. All the other variants come with Roswell LAF pickups which are meant to be a little more vintage sounding: more mids, less treble and lower output. Also because I had to look it up, an action of 4/64'" to 5/64" is 1.6 to 2 mm for my fellow metric system admirers.

    I play the hell out of mine. It's the first fusion T. Mine was set up great. No issues. A little ding in back but hey. Germany to the first owner and then me ....payed 400 as well total ...dude had it strung up clock wise on the tuners Lmao. Complaint of tuning issues. I resting it and it's perfect. I use the hell out of the trem too. Hahah. Anyway. Don't hesitate. Never played a Suhr. But I wound not think it's that great by any stretch or EVERYONE would have these. However many are liking them. It's the entry for me into many higher specs I never tried and now I love locking tuners. Flamed roasted maple and SS frets. The trem is not bad at all. I do need to pull a spring. Mine has 3. Anyway great review. Very fair.
