Hello!

My name is Andy and I'm a Korean American (KAm) that is a little outdated in this online world (a "boomer"-type, if you will). I wanted to learn about all things new and upcoming, especially with regards to Korean music/entertainment.

Personally i think rami has the mature and different vocal part which unique and stable... and her dance body control also really good Rora has the heavenly voice Chiquita has the best expression Pahrita also a really good singer but others are too good that she didn't put much impact on sheesh but in better up and forever she slay with her expensive aura and look Ahyeon has different tone which unique her ad-libs makes songs much better maybe she has highest vocal tone but whenever she goes high it's a bit harsh to ears , she energetic but doesn't has body control so sometimes from her dance we didn't get the emotions Asa has the fastest flow she really has good expression her dance on point she has unique vocal ... Ruka has the most hip-hop vibe , she has the best live presence she has the best rap flow , i saw her evaluation rap she also can rap fast but they didn't give her those parts anymore.... and just give all shitty lyrics less screentime she also has the best body control.... Sheesh rap part for me the worst bcz all nonsense lyrics , like that their best song ..... i like forever and struck in the middle too

Thank you for your reaction and glad to see you again, I’m sure everyone understand that life has other priorities than making youtube reactions. As a favorite I can’t give you one, I prefer to listen to Band Maid per album if possible and the songs kind of belong in the context of the album. But I did rediscover Alone and Bubble, both are great songs imo. Have fun! :)

Love this song so much, but I do agree it is a little too short! Highly recommend the remixes of Chk Chk Boom, the festival version (on the album) and the deadeye version (on the remix album) are both great! I usually don't enjoy remixes or alt versions so much, but these are a lot of fun~ Hope you enjoy the rest of the album, I really think it is one of their strongest releases! My fave b-side at the moment is JJAM, an intensely SKZ sounding song, so much fun! SKZ also just released their Deadpool x Wolverine OST song SLASH- it's so good!! We might get a mv for it later, hope you react if we do~

When they were still learning the choreography....Lee Know kinda kicked his shoe off because he danced too hard. They do not have a Studio Choom for this one. But they just appeared on It's Live for the first time in their career. Ryan & Hugh didn't clear it with Marvel to appear in the MV. They used the suits that they already own/stole. And when they filmed in New York, it was actually the first time they had actually met in person. Well. Not Hugh, just Ryan. The making of would be fun for you to watch on your own time. Same with the album intro video. (We are getting two more MVs from it later. Mountains & Stray Kids are both getting mvs.) This was them exploring the Latin beats & styles. It's very fun. And I agree that it's too short. We need more to enjoy. And it's ok to be tired. You have lots of work & small children. Very understandable.

So happy you reacted to QWER! They were formed by a huge fitness youtuber/influencer because he was obsessed with the animes Bocchi the Rock, Oshi no Ko, and K-On! and wanted to form a band. The fact that Hina and Magenta only picked up their instruments months before they even debuted is what got me interested because you can really see their progression getting better every performance. Siyeon had so many struggles leading to her debut in QWER so I'm so glad that she found her calling in this band. I hope you give them another chance and check out Ferris Wheel and their latest hit T.B.H.! It's honestly so refreshing to have an Idol girl group who actually play their instruments. Also, super thoughtful of you to translate for them!

I think as much as babymonster has better rappers then most groups, their lyrics are proportionally more cringe than some of those other groups. The amount of "click clack boom, 1,2,3,4,5 pedal to the metal vroom vroom brrrrrrrr" is killing it for me

Always interesting to hear your "inner voice". I agree with most of your comments. As for the into/outro of Protect You, I also thought it didn't fit. Then I realized the song is for an anime on giant robots fighting. So I see the intro as a call to arms, and the outro as a victory cry.

In regards to your comment in their song “Protect You” where you said about the end where Saiki is closing the song with her singing Ohh lalalalalala, you said “that part seemed out of place”. Did you hear how complex that song is and how much is going on? Every note, guitar lick, drum sound, and vocal harmony are written with intention. Nothing they write is out of place!

Regarding the 'muffled' sound, yoru headphones will certainly matter, but I find the mixing of the studio versions of some Band Maid songs to be a bit off (can we say 'Freedom'?). However, another thing that 's likely affecting the sound quality is the KZread compression. I'm not sure on the technical specifics, but whatever KZread does seems to frequently (pun intended) mess with the dynamic range of the audio. This is particularly obvious on Dreamcatcher videos, but likely affects everything to some degree. The CD and iTunes versions pack more punch.

So great to see you. Yeah Kami likes layering in disident minor tones and keys that are meant to be uncomfortable to the ear. That makes wonder what sort of Devil's Playground you're about to enter as she launches into her solo's. And you're correct in your assessment of her evolution. Unseenworld, the Sense Single, Unleash EP were all born out the flames of the intense feelings of frustration and disappointment brought about by the Pandemic. Its easy to see that now that we've come out of that she's writing songs like, Magie, Brightest Star, Bestie ect... Just a little background on Hate? + The lyrics were written by Saiki supposedly about her friend J-Pop Sensation Lisa, who was publicly humiliated by her husband, by being caught having an affair during the Pandemic. Saiki is said to have written those lyrics in support of her friend. And also Yes, at the 10th Anniversary Yokohama Areana, that the Hate? Clip is from, they unveiled new Battle Armor (Stage wear) with only Miku still adhereing to the Maid Astethtic. **Addendum - Two of Band -Maid's most recent original releases Shambles and Protect You were commissioned for the animes Kengan Ashura and Grendizer U respectively

Personally, I like OOTD, but they might have taken the satire a little too far in the music itself, I'll give you that. Just like ymenehcra for OOTD, an account named 9mynameis1 has been posting messages before the comeback. She posted that her seven friends became obsessed with the crown and have not been responding anymore, which corresponds with the secret diary Siyeon (our powerhouse main vocal, also known as Wolfie) is reading. The text there reads "How are you? I'm worried because you aren't replying." So what we are seeing here is the seven friends (Dreamcatcher) getting rid of their obsession with the crown (materialism, narcicism) by literally destroying it, which makes their friend rejoin them (there is an eighth person joining them near the end). There is also a lot of imagery about death and legendary figures like Valkyries or greek goddesses and legends. Reddit user PaintMeYaBasic has managed to identify these paintings in the MV: Hero by Edward Burne-Jones (from the tale of Hero and Leander), Valkyrie and a Dying Hero by Hans Makart, Hero and Leander by Salvator Rosa and finally "Justice" by Kenyon Cox in the center back. In the tale of Hero and Leander from Greek mythology, Hero is actually a priestess of Aphrodite (Venus in the Roman myths), so that is not the same as the hero who is taken from the battlefield by a Valkyrie in the other painting. But OOTD has the line "I'm Venus, Nephthys, call me a Goddess". It is likely there is a connection. While OOTD was about falling for the temptations of modern life and a satire on narcicism (especially influencers and fast fashion), I believe Justice is telling us to fight those temptations for a better world. It is a call to become a warrior for good in the world and fight the materialism that seems to be the most important thing for many people in the developed countries. You can see JiU break the bonds that hold her down, and we should do the same. There are also many references to their older MVs in this. The paintings also have a deeper meaning in Chase me, there is a sword in Deja Vu and Scream, the bite into the apple is a callback to BEcause and the tree to the Dystopia trilogy - and so on. There are many more. The 8th figure in the end could also be JiU from Deja Vu, finally breaking the cycle of violence and providing justice. Musically, I love the song. The guitars in the chorus are pure heaven (just like Dongie with her wings). It has the right amount of heaviness for me, and it is an anthem and a call to action. Justice is a brilliant, epic release, showing everyone that a group can still produce fantastic music and MVs after seven and a half years. I can't help it, I deeply respect these ladies and their whole team.
