The SBL syllabus is a holistic approach to the martial arts covering all aspects of self-defense. The art's different features range from ground to upright fighting, grappling, the use of sharp-edged weapons to softer weapons such as the Salendang (shoulder scarf) and dynamic striking from all angles and ranges. The art has a softer side called Kembangan (the Flower Dance) which is a moving meditation, done in a relaxed and slow manner to help increase balance, fluidity and rhythm. This also enhances concentration, focus and develops a high level of awareness.

Silat arbeitet mit hebelwirkung und physischer Energie deshalb muss man kein 100 kg fighter sein. Es ist trotzdem sehr schwierig für eine 50 kg Person gegen einen 100 kg muskelmann diese Techniken umzusetzen deswegen gibt es auch Gewichtsklassen in Kampfsportarten.

1:01 damn those girls are fast!!! I'm having goosebumps and watery eyes seeing them move like that. I'm imagining them as two today's humble-bullying targets and yet they are pendekar/ silat warriors whose low key-ing their martial arts ability in their school. Keep humble girls!
It can work in real life or street fight
Hey, people are subconsciously too light on their feet there and there is no mass behind the arm movements (they're not strikes) and there's no element of surprise. This is all fake, that is the methodology of training, not the techniques or strategies. The proof: you will never see any silat guy using effectively or AT ALL it in any fight against a trained person. I have more than enough knowledge to know that what you are doing is almost irrelevant to a real fight against a street thug that knows how to fight, your students don't. You are just passing on a martial choreography tradition, not a survival truth. My real intent is not to bash silat, which I appreciate, but that you change you methodology of training, you need to have understanding first of what's wrong with it. Any system that takes more than 6 months to equip a defender to survive, is about serving a tradition to have a job and make money and fame and is proof of poor methodology in training.
