Welcome to my Cape Cod life
Welcome to my Cape Cod life
Hi my name is Rick, and I welcome you to my Cape Cod life. I plan to retire in a few years and it is my hope to build up my little backyard into a hobby homestead. Each season I add more food systems. I have 8 hens as my eager partners in my small scale permaculture approach to food production. Also let me show you how I use resources unique to Cape Cod to supplement what I produce at home. I enjoy digging for clams, gathering oysters and going crabbing I would love to share that with you. When you produce and gather good food then you have to commit to cooking it, so you will find cooking videos too! Please subscribe.

nice haul. I think I'm growing the red okra but not sure I'll see anything on it, they are not doing well hahaha
@@BramptonGardener I am growing Kibler okra this year. I’ll pick my first pod tomorrow.
Hello Rick. Good seeing you. Love the seeds you have. I never tried tomatoes from seed. Does it take long to germinate ?
Pretty potatoes!❤
Yummy too!
Nice haul! I’m working through my stash!😂 I’ve never grown okra. I love the jewel amethyst eggplants!they are awesome!
@@GreenThumbGardener65 I get a little obsessed with seeds! 😂 I started growing okra 4 years ago. It a bit cool up north here on the coast, but it grows. Okra loves heat. Still get a harvests. I love the little eggplant. The jewel amethyst eggplant is so cute, I’m growing it this season. That is why I bought little finger eggplant this round. Thanks so much for watching.
Is that Rick or George Micheal?!🙌 Loving the 5 O’clock shadow 😍 I resisted and didn’t order any seeds. I showed amazing restraint! 😂 Red Burgundy okra has been delicious and prolific for me this year. Nice haul! Thank you for the shoutout ❤
@@NicoleSmithGardening 😂 I assure you it’s Rick! 😂 Nice restraint. I couldn’t resist and I did need some restocking and some seeds just for whimsy. Thank you for watching! 💕
Thanks for sharing. Nice selection of seeds💚

Yay! The little eggplant looks great, even upside down 🙌❤️😘 Yay for okra! Humid?? 😂 Great Tour! ❤
@@NicoleSmithGardening Thank you for the eggplant seeds and the seeds for Red Robin micro dwarf tomato. I didn’t mention the okra I’m growing is Kibbler Okra!, from S.C. as seen on Roots and Refuge Farm. It has been very humid.
Wait how much wine did I drink???? Hahahha this happened to me too a few weeks ago, no idea why.
I get footage like this when I'm wearing my go pro and bend over on the hill, but it's just my legs ahhaha
@@BramptonGardener so weird, it was fine until I uploaded it. 😂
@@WelcometomyCapeCodlife it's happened on over people's too. I've also seen it where it'll speed up rando spots for about 5 seconds
😂 I’m watching and turning my head thinking how did he turn that greenstalk upside down?😂oh you had me going there!❤ when you come on you are right side up but everything else is upside down.
I don’t know how it happened but a lot of the video clips are upside down! 😂 That’s a first!
Am I first?

I e always wanted to make pesto. I need to try it
@@NicoleSmithGardening it’s really easy to make and it freezes well. I often freeze it in ice cube trays, the pop into storage bags. In addition to using it just as pesto I use these flavor bombs in soups and sauces.
What an ordeal! I’m glad you are done with that part. I hope you don’t need any surgery 🤞 Blue hydrangeas are my favorite. 💙 You have a beautiful home, Rick. ❤ Lovely bouquet! 💙🧡💙🧡
@@NicoleSmithGardening it’s a stellar years for hydrangeas on Cape Cod! The one I was harvesting from wag a cutting I is started 5-6 years ago. I’m glad radiation is done too!
Hello my friend. I love your flowers and so happy to be and see what you are doing. I want to learn more about cut flowers. So happy your are done with radiation 🙏🏽🫶🫶🙏🏽 You and I been out about the same time . I been taking care of my brother ❤️

@@BramptonGardener ding dang wildlife!
So beautiful. Youre garden is really oerforming. I cant get over the blue on those hydregeas. I'm so sorry about the burns that's just awful. You look good though. Does sound a bit overwhelming. Im so glad you got help to plant. And it'll make harvesting interesting tying to find random plants. Hopefully you can skip the surgery, crossing my fingers for you. That looked so lovely and cheerful. Love the colors
@@BramptonGardener Thanks Rachelle! Hydrangeas are everywhere on the Cape, as are day lilies! Isn’t the blue of the hydrangeas just dreamy? Fortunately the burns are healing and I’m more myself. Cancer s*cks! Thank you for watching!
Ohhh wha a beautiful green stalk. Havent mase pesto yet this year, youre ahead of the game. That looks delicious 😋
@@BramptonGardener I love my Greenstalks! This spring it was full of lettuce and now summer crops! Making pesto is so easy to do and the fragrance is intoxicating! Dinner was delish!
@@WelcometomyCapeCodlife I love pesto but randy n syd don't so I usually use the basil for bruschetta or tomato soup. But I'll make myself a batch this year for sure.
@@BramptonGardenerthat’s a shame that they don’t like pesto. I’m glad you’re making some for yourself this season!
I can smell it from here!❤

Your Greenstalk looks great!!! I'm so excited to finally have some basil up and growing! I'm gonna have to make this pesto! Looks delicious!
I love my Green Stalks! This tower was loaded with lettuce this spring. The pesto can out so good. Made a Creamy Parmesan Pesto Pasta. Reduced some half and half added some Parmesan then 2 tablespoons of pesto! So fresh!
