I thought I knew most of this but watched anyway. I didn't know that they charge public places fees or policed it. That seems like common knowledge but that part never accured to me. I would be interested to hear you guys discuss more about publishing shares.

@@EliteMusicCoaching Yes, it is great and to the point. I think I met you and Michael at last years TAXI Road rally. Do you remember me telling you both a joke in the elevator, that started with: Anybody hear the news today? Somebody broke into the police department and stole all the toilet seats.
Thanks for putting a finer point on this, it takes the anxiety out of pitching to agents because it costs them absolutely nothing and there is no risk for them to add you to their rosta, however there is quite a significant risk for the artist as your tracks could just sit on their database for years doing nothing as you generally aren't allowed to pitch it anywhere else. It makes me realise that the agents are actually lucky to have people contacting them!

Like so many "Gateway" organizations, consider VERY carefully if membership is actually necessary. They spend a lot of money and use gang member tactics to convince you that you MUST subscribe to their services; but do you? If you do believe it is a necessary service, read the contract, understand the contract, and REJECT the contract if you disagree with ANY part of it. If they will not make/allow modifications, then just say no. In addition, given how much money they make, why are they charging the creators?

Do sync songs have to be long? What if I want to focus on primarily advertisement placements. Can I just create 10-30 sec songs and submit to a library?
Not the best idea. It is better to create full length and also offer 30 second versions.
Every license I have said “commercial use, for…” The list a ton but never music licensing. I’ve asked them directly and they gave me the answer verbatim of their license. By hiring a drummer for three songs and a horn player for three songs I have almost a life time of custom drums and trumpets
