I'm not saying the Reds treated Brandon Phillips poorly, but I never felt like they really appreciated him. Every night you went to the park you knew you were going to see him do something special defensively. When you saw him play in person it was something different But what gets me is what he did offensively. Put him at the top of the lineup, he'd get on base. Bat'em clean up' he'd drive in 100 runs. AND HE NEVER COMPLAINED ABOUT IT ONCE! I guess I'm not telling anyone anything they don't already know, but I just feel like the Reds could have done more to keep him a Red for his entire career besides try and trade him every year. Also, and I get it's a long comment, but look at BP's #'s in the playoffs. Compare them to the guy they made sure to lock up. How nice was Phillip's when it came to talking w/ fans. I know I'm going to get flak for this, but how many times have any of you that frequent GABP seen Votto toss a kid a ball?
@michaels88164 жыл бұрын
Brandon Phillips is a fan favorite in Cincinnati. He was up there with Votto level fandom when he was with the Reds. He could do everything and was always electric to watch, but I would like to know where you got that e Reds tried to trade him multiple times. I never heard that and would like to read. It is my understanding that he was considered a near franchise player until he got a bit older. With that being said, miss watching the guy play regardless of the jersey he’s wearing. Haven’t seen a player like him since he was outside of the MLB.

In one instance I saw him warming up playing catch with one teammate and he starts doing tricks with the ball. Kicking it up with his feet and shit and writing something in the dirt. He was completely ignoring his teammate. After a few minutes his teammate just threw his arms in the air and found someone else to warm up with. I could go on with more stuff.
