37:25 "they worshipped angels INSTEAD of God." Hmmmm, even WORSE to worship saints instead of God, as they aren't even angels.

very interesting perspective. i'm 12 mins in, and i broadly agree with what's being said. couple points of contention: 1.) the spiritual and the material need not be so dialectically opposed. even in your own tradition, spirit begets matter. why should these things be artificially seperated X amount of years later? jesus clearly viewed the body as something spiritual.. otherwise he would have come back as a ghost of some sort. 2.) the key word in campbell is "watered down." jung himself is also watered down... he's a watered down alchemist. the term "watered down" or "diluted" is an alchemical term, pointing in a direction. the opposite direction of "watering down" is "boiling down" or "distilling." if you distill from campbell, through jung, and you find something that gets MORE truth, then you have a kind of spiritual physics. i've always found that when you dig into the archetypes, you get MORE information, not less. it's much like digging into the bible. it's hyperlinked. as an aside, if you want to reconcile hinduism and christianity, the key is in alchemy. 3.) your conflation of the labors of hercules and the gospel narrative is a common one, but not one that serious archetypal thinkers think much about. while it's true that they share the broad narrative arc of the "culture hero," hercules represents ideals of a more... herculean time. the notion of forgiveness and cooperation as conquering virtues is a complex topic. it's one we still struggle with balancing. let's not blame the greeks for valuing strength. if present trends continue, we may be going back to that soon. i'm a fan of your work so far :) brilliant stuff.

Thinking Jesus came back as a ghost is like one the first heresies. The dogma is he has a material body after the resurrection.

This is Divine Council 101. If you're only reading the NT and filtering your OT views based on your interpretation of the NT, then you'll miss this. The basis for the OT is the world in which Israel lived (i.e. ancient near east), which was filled with real, not contrived, polytheism and pagan worship that has/had a supernatural origin at the Tower of Babylon. The basis for the "inter-testamental literature" is the OT. The basis for the NT is the OT and inter-testamental literature. We in the protestant West have lost this worldview and need to regain it.

I lived in Sedona for two years. The porn hub car drives around. The new age cult thinking is everywhere. And I learned that Reki is actually a form of vampirism. And the vortexes are there to steal tourist chi energy. To be used in Reiki therapy sessions. So if you go to a vortex and you start to fall asleep, it’s because they are sucking the energy out of you. Sedona is a beautiful place, but also a very dangerous place if you do not have your wits and the armor of God protecting you. Gullible people just looking for answers and trying to take care of their health become highly susceptible to a lot of bull crap and gurus that charge a lot of money for relative BS. It’s really unfortunate to see how the entire community is built around, taking advantage of every low IQ person they can.

Its so funny how he can discount other religions and see the inventions of their belifes without realizing that if the same eye was pointed at his belife it is clear that it is imagined stories just the same... needy weak minds use religion as a crutch to hobble through life.

Gnosticism is more "as things are experienced" instead of "as they were tested" Jung was highly intelligent and necessary. Most good faithful orthodox wouldn't usually be able to study his works in a way to be understood and walking between orthodoxy and deep jungian circles could risk mental health in some as they are polar opposites. Gnosticism is simply closer to what they were converted from than christian thought.

Jordan Peterson was a Jungian, but over this past year has been opening up to the truth of the Bible. He is working with Jonathan Pageau and other Christians to create the ARC organization (Alliance of Responsible Citizenry). Jordan's wife is currently entering into the Catholic church.

Roman catholics pray for the departed at their funerals and don't offer them meals lol. Yes, they celebrate the hope love ones are hidden with and are alive in Christ. I love Fr Stephens lectures otherwise.

We did not hear the question. In his recent Lord of Spirits podcast about idolatry vs. veneration of icons and saints, he goes in detail how eating with ancestors in christian context is not idolatry but participating in the community of saints. So he’d contradict himself here. My guess is, the question was about some specific practice bordering voodoo.
