Great ‘one hit wonder’ from the Top 40 AM radio days. Clean recording. Too bad The Beatles stuff as produced by George Martin doesn’t have the same type of sonic signature. Even the 1969-70 capture of The Fab Four. But it was a couple years down the road and the art and science of recording continued to be refined. Perhaps George had access to better equipment & studios. The production he did with America is quite nice sonically.

In the late 60s till the mid-70s during my late teens and early 20s I was in a band with a violinist friend (no band in our upstate New York area had a violin player in their band in the late 60s) along with other friends of ours, it was a five piece band with the same type of instrumentation as Seatrain but some of were multi-instrumentalists, and we were playing gigs for two years before Seatrain released this album; we were doing Yes, Zappa, Beatles (White Album songs), a select few other bands material, and we played songs from a little known band called The Flock, and I remember we did a song of theirs called The Clown (or a title similar to that) and Jerry Goodman was their violinist who a few years later would be in Mahavishnu Orchestra, anyway, when this album came out in 1970 we learned 13 Questions, Willin', Out Where The Hills, Sally Goodin', and Orange Blossom Special, and these songs became important songs in our repertoire throughout our longevity as a band and were fun songs to play and fans of our band expected us to play these songs - Orange Blossom Special was a rip roaring crowd pleaser and our violin player played his butt off on this, he was and still is an exceptional musician - classically trained violinist who wanted to play rock with his violin and we thought it was a unique thing to do to have a violin player in a band doing rock and progressive rock and any type of music we wanted to play - for example we played Heart Of The Sunrise by Yes and the violinist would play a third harmony part to the guitar, keyboard two part harmony part on the Fragile album so we played the main riff in three part harmony, that is how good we were (we played about a half dozen or so Yes songs), no one we knew were doing what we were doing musically, of course we could not get to many gigs because we were not playing all the standard Top 40 crap.We loved playing whatever we felt like playing, and we loved Seatrain the moment we heard them - I think one of our band members heard 13 Questions on a college FM radio station - RPI in Troy, NY (we were from Rotterdam, NY) and one of us bought this Seatrain album and decided which songs to learn (we learned nearly half the album). Richard Greene is an amazing violinist and fiddle player - he and Peter Rowan were in Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys in the mid-60s. When Seatrain's Marblehead Messenger album came out in 1971 we learned Lonely's Not The Only Way To Go, Losing all Those Years, and Despair Tire and all these Seatrain songs stayed in our repertoire. Seatrain was a great underrated band with great music and musicians - Beatles producer George Martin produced this 1970 Seatrain album and their 1971 Marblehead Messenger album, I think the 1970 Seatrain album was the first George Martin producer job after The Beatles split. In my opinion, this 1970 Seatrain album should have been #1 when it came out!

This song, this moment, made me realize that this is full circle ⭕️. It’s a long story, but may The Gods bless Brad, Tom, Frank and that powerhouse of a drummer. This was music proudly made without synthesizers and the soundtracks to my life were mostly from Boston. Life wasn’t so bad after all. Thank you Jesus
