    Thanks for an odd ball teardown. So is this actually a pump? It looks more like a rotary valve. Very hard to tell since i cant see details. Does it use oil press from the main lube pump to direct and throttle inj via the "injection pump"?

    @@AtkinsRotary i know Mazda calls it an omp. Just can't figure out how it actually pumps. Its not recip driven by a lobe or vane/rotor pump. The worm gear threw me for a loop. Metering fluid into multiple outlets gets complicated. Can you sum up where it actually build pressure and how it meters it to the outlets. Check this out for how complicated a simple process like this can get on heavy industry. Thanks again for the tear down. kzread.info/dash/bejne/h2uJsJOjnbedgJs.htmlsi=xFTVOc5Eg6FPm4jd

    @schuylerpryne5 it provides the oil to the oil metering lines, vacuum from the engine pulls the oil into the housing to lub areas that would be impossible to supply lubrication.. I hope that helps..

    So, you talk about "you can run a cleaner through it" to get rid of most of the carbon deposits. Considering all the engines I've cracked open were completely full of carbon, I'm thinking about running some cleaner through it as a matter of course. What do you recommend? I've had very little success with brake fluid and water / steam (engine running). Thank you and have a good day.

    Years ago when I was experimenting with E85 fuel, I managed to get at least one apex seal stuck. I think it happened from programming the aftermarket ECU to inject too much fuel when attempting a cold start. It sounded like low compression when cranking, and at least one apex seal felt stuck and wouldn't spring back when pressed. I used a mirror to look through the spark plug holes, and a long piece of plastic like a sharpie marker to press the apex seals. Adding some ATF and turning the engine over by hand and continuing to press the seals to 'work' them free got the seals unstuck. I switched back to gasoline, and the same engine has worked well for thousands of miles including track days. I feel like I got lucky, because I'm not experienced at rebuilding rotary engines.

  • @AtkinsRotary
    @AtkinsRotaryАй бұрын

    Since your pump is mechanical, most likely, it's working fine. If you look at your lines, you should be able to see oil moving. On the line side of the pump, it's less than 1 pound of PSI. If you take this to the track, keep on mind that the oil metering pump is good up to about 6.5K to 7K RPM. After that, its not enough. You do, You need to premix the fuel with oil. Thank you for watching and commenting 😉 👍

  • @AtkinsRotary

    The early stuff was 6mm carbon apex seals, and those just go poof with boost or nitrous. As for the apex seals going, that wasn't the issue yet as the rotor housings were not cooling down, and over time, the water seals would melt.. Thank you for watching and commenting.
