Hardusehobby

I use and collect folding knives for different reasons. I watch knife videos for entertainment🙌

My observation is that the folding knife community is mainly divided into two type of hobby camps. Soft use and hard use.

The soft users want as small and as light as possible pocketknives that can cut paper and apples for 20 years without sharpening:
🧚‍♀️🧜‍♂️🦄🐇🥦🏳️‍🌈🥕🥑

The hard users they want big beefy blades that just fit in the pocket and have a similar functionality like fixed blade knives. Their wish is that the folding knife can do more tasks a knife could possibily be used for:
🦍🦾🦧🦣🏋‍♂️🥊🥩🏴‍☠️🍗

As a representative of the second group I decided to do a hard use test video just for fun. I never did a video before but why not. If I m in the mood I do another one.

I want to show content that is spontaneous and authentic.

Other than that I use this channel especially to follow other knife related channels to get entertainment and information about new knives👏👏🙏

    @@bunker2555 Thanks🙏. I believe you but Im in Switzerland and bought it at lamnia so sending back for service is kinda complex. Maybe they would pay for shipping and such but its maybe to mutch effort to expect that. I did put some oil at that locking part and it seems to work now. I know its not optimal putting oil directly at the lock but for this design I dont worry about failure.

    Thank you🙏 Very kind of you. Well Im just fooling around a bit. No rocket science just some basic immitation. I just saw there are some acoustic sessions or live performances where you can see the hands of the musicians pretty well and which are almost unplugged. Like this one for example. You can see the hands and remember the positions of the piano player well enough. After you could learn the song in maybe an hour pretty well even without knowing anything about the Piano. But Im often already happy when I know what I would have to do since there are so many things you could do or learn. Basically you put your fingers down until it makes the same sound. Obviously I would have to practice more so it sounds more exact and so that I dont have to think about where to put the fingers. Maybe an hour or two of practice just playing this song on piano would do the trick.

    I don't think I've ever seen a axis style lock with a good detent feel. I think hole deployment for a reverse flick is best for cross bar locks. I definitely like the ring from full deployment and looks like a good hard use knife.

  • @hardusehobby
    @hardusehobby9 ай бұрын

    Yeah maybe its always like that. Also there are not many crossbar lock knives with a flipper tab. I saw some reviews about the new Microtech Ram lock (also some type of crossbar style lock) and even they seem to have a softer detend as well. Its just because its André de Villiers. If one can do the trick then maybe him. Gonna definitely get another one some time later to see if he can improve on it like he always does. Also its more a preference thing. It seems to function very well and reliable if one knows and got used to it.

  • @hardusehobby
    @hardusehobby9 ай бұрын

    Of course there are better options out there. Still I was kinda surprised of the durability. Obviously my test is limited by the time it took and by the force I was willing and able to generate. Also it wasnt that good to grip it to generate force. That might have lowered the impact. It felt pretty cheap so I expected it to fail but it did hold up way better then expected. Maybe a long term test would show different results. I didnt hard use it since then because there are better options out there for a user knife. It seems like the secondary lock does pretty good in preventing failure of the standard liner under abusive use at least for some time. The liner and the hole construction is a bit bendy so it doesnt break. The tanto blade might not be my nr1 choice for all around tasks. Also a thick blade should maybe be wider for better slicing.

  • @hardusehobby
    @hardusehobby Жыл бұрын

    Hard to tell. I dont own a Benchmade. Some Benchmade knives seem to be very tough. Like the 560 Super Freek 980 Turret or the old Adamas for example. They seem to be pretty successful in the hard use tests out there. But some Benchmades seem to be more average in terms of strengh. A couple of people also reported issues with the reliability of these ring shaped springs of the Axis lock. But from what I have seen most of the Benchmade Knives should be pretty save to use in most scenarios if you dont try to break them. I mean you could definitely try it. Its fun to do a hard use test and if you really wanna know how strong it is and if you can replace the knife its a entertaining thing to try it out. I know its a bit wasteful but some people drink alcohol some people occasionally hit knives for fun right?😉

    I needed to adjust the pinon screw it was too tight and knife lock was not engaging. I bought two so it is an issue. But I am an engineer so it was simply fixed. Harduse batons with a folder? Who dares do that with most folders? Compared to other folders its great. My family emigrated from Speir, Germany, in Rhineland, 1700.

  • @hardusehobby
    @hardusehobby2 жыл бұрын

    Interesting. My family also came from Germany. For the batoning of folding knives I give you a short analogy to understand why people do that sometimes. Imagine a folding knife would be a modern human beeing. A modern human beeing can drive everywhere with a car or an e-bike or bus or these e-scooters that are everywhere. An average modern human often works at the computer sitting in an office all day. So most modern human beeings dont really need muscles anymore. They dont need endurance or reflexes for their tasks. But some of them still like to have these things because we are still animals inside. Some feel these kind of attractions more and some less but its a reality. Every folding knife can do the very limited "nessesairy" tasks of modern humans. But not every folding knife can make human beeings smile. If we would question the necessity of all our modern knife tasks in self critical fashion we would find very quickly that folding knives are not necessairy anymore in our 21th centure. Most people only "need" some simple knife in the kitchen or to cut their meal in pieces at the table. Also many people dont cook themselves anymore and only eat "to go" so thats that. Its not really about the need its more about the hobby. Nice to hear that you could solve your issues with your knife👍

    Is it legal in the EU?

  • @hardusehobby
    @hardusehobby2 жыл бұрын

    It depends a bit on the country. In some countries its not allowed to own a gravity knife. I think in germany you are not allowed to own it. Germany is pretty hard in terms of knife law. In austria I think every knife is allowed and I think you could generally also carry auto knives or ballisong or gravity knives. I m in Switzerland. In this country most knives are allowed to own and generally also to carry. You are not allowed to have automatic knives or ballisongs in Switzerland but gravity knives are generally not considered to be weapons. But the law is not really precise and the judges have much power of interpretation. So its maybe better to not show a knife in public other then a swiss made knife and you dont see many people carry knives. But in terms of law there is no clear written problem to carry a knife. Its just not normal to see knives at peoples belt here and the police and judges have much power to call something illegal without a legal basis.

    Weird question🤔 Are you planning to leave our planet? I guess yeah I mean it depends on how you define"works" what your expectations would be in space and what you are doing in space when your knife should work. Generally speaking I guess it would work there in all scenarios sufficiently as a two hand opener by pulling the blade out with your fingers since they say gravity would be different in space then on our planet. From what I ve heard a knife with lanyard hole is better in space so your knife doesnt get lost just as a tip🤷🏻‍♂️
