I just came across your channel and this is the first video I watched and I already subscribed! We have a lot in common. I'm a PA girl too with roots in Philly. Same age and career. I highly recommend going to FNP school. I'm in school now and graduate next year but girl it's hard work but soooo worth it. I want to transition my career into aesthetics as well specifically dermatology like yourself so it's great to see another black girl with the same career goals! I'm excited to follow with you through your journey! You're gonna be good. Honestly the time flies next thing you know you'll be a certified FNP. I feel you with you saying you don't wanna go to school. Girl it's a burnout forreal 😭 I also have the BS in biology and did an accelerated BSN program. Been in school our whole 20s plus or minus a few years lmao. But you gonna look back on this time in the future and be so grateful you did it before children and marriage.

I dont blame us as black women for going celibate. It's so much going on, including new sexual diseases. A rubber won't keep you from getting diseases if you are in sin. I applaud many black women like myself who have been celibate for almost 7 years. I'm not missing out on a damn thing. Men cheating, drama, diseases, baby mama's, and so many more bad things. It's better to wait for the right man and pray for him, but the dating pool is rough. And many men have high body counts

I completely understand. COVID burnt me! I’ve been at the bedside since 2007 as a LPN, 2012 as a ICU RN. I am halfway thru my NP program. I’ve taken off work since Oct. I went to work one day and was like Nah, I need a break. I love dermatology and aesthetics, it would be a dream to work in that sector. Good luck with school, you’re on the right. One class at a time, pay as you go! I’ve been trickling away at this NP program since 2012 as a new grad. It will come when it come. Nurse burnout is real, and nursing in specialty environments is tough for black woman. I find that it’s only space for one or two of us at time. I’m 39, been at the bedside since I was 21!!!!!! PACE YOURSELF

How do you, or anyone else reading this feel about all the videos about how people have left nursing? I'm still in school, but it makes me very scared about going into the field I'm trying to not let other people's experiences impact my own. Any advice??

So honestly everything is subjective because I’ve met a nurse that said even if she hit the lottery she’d stay at her job because she loves it. Medsurge is a very hard unit requiring a lot of care, there are plenty of other units people enjoy as well as different specialties. Nursing is very diverse, maybe try shadowing to see if it’s for you! I also never really wanted to be an RN either

Girl, me and you are literally the same as far as our nursing journey. I’m all about flexibility and peace of mind in this stage of my nursing career. Covid era burned me outtt but got to that baggg & got a house in the south 🎉 I like to call myself a Prn princess as well as doing school nursing too it’s the easiest job ever and I recently passed my NP boards so congrats on getting into NP school! Maybe one day we’ll cross paths. I love seeing/meeting like minded women like myself. Keep shining!💐
