I worked in a mid size CPA firm in US, only had to work hard during tax seasons at the latest till 11:00 pm. By the way, for all the extra hours we worked, we were able to get time off during the non busy seasons. I started in the audit department, really hated it. Transferred to tax department, still a lot of work but I know I can go on my own with enough experience and it's worth the hard work and it did pay off. After 5 years, I learned enough to open my own small tax practice business. Not too bad. My daughter worked for Deloitte & Touche in San Francisco, she worked long hours but never past 11:00 pm either. Her starting pay was $55K US 18 years ago. My starting pay was $20K US around 44 years ago. Now, the starting pay for a big 4 is $100K US right off college in Los Angeles. Not too bad for someone right off college, enough to pay for the rent of a one bedroom apartment, car payment and daily expenses. Glad to know that work in US offers much better work life balance as compared to HK. HK employers are crazy. They will never get away with working their employees till 2-3 am on an on going basis. My son in law whom my daughter met at Deloitte became a stock analyst just like My son in law whom my daughter met at Deloitte became a stock analyst just like柑柑, now he is a partner of a merger and acquisition firm. My suggestion is to ask柑柑to find a job that has better work life balance or to build a professional skill that can afford her to work at home eventually. Now in US, we can do accounting work online with pay, hope 柑柑 can do the same in HK. Not sure if being a You Tuber will be the right solution.
