    The New City Catechism has a children's version which has more accessible language for elementary/middle school age kids. They also have a curriculum that we have used in kids small groups which has fun activities and discussion questions for each question!

    Your morning basket themes sound so fun! I love the idea of doing a monthly theme. Those devotionals look neat my oldest is turning 10 next year. I’m really wanting to add morning basket back in this year we’ve done it in the past but it’s just been a busy season for us so it hasn’t happened. Hopefully this year I need to sit down and plan. 😊 Thanks for sharing friend!

    @@raisingthreewildlingsalso, I think you mentioned that you laminate the covers of the things you’re binding to make them sturdier. I guess your ProClick will hole punch the laminated pages no problem then? You laminate front and back covers? Do you print the covers on card stock and then laminate them? Sorry for all the questions! 😅

    Me again! I bought 2 TGATB language arts levels for this fall for 2 of my kiddos because I was intimidated by printing and spiraling them myself. The ones I bought aren’t spiral bound and after seeing yours, now I wish I’d just printed them so they would open flat! What printer did you use?? What paper?? What spiral binder do you have?? I need to know all of this! 😂😂😂

    Yes! So much of what you said resonated with me. We are going back to TGATB. Trying to put together my own LA made me not enjoy homeschooling. It was just SO much and it burned me out.

    We did BJU our first year of homeschool and it was So. MUCH. And after that is when I had my very first curriculum rabbit hole experience. 😅 But we are so much happier with our other choices. I'm glad you are doing what you feel is right for your family and making the switch.

    Thank you to all of you that are going through the challenges of creating wholesome curriculum outside of what governmental "education" has become. To the parents that are taking it upon themselves to take the reins of their children's development. Seriously. Society has gotten so far away from the fundamentals of what it truly takes to raise the next generation. It fills my heart with joy and hope to see such an upward trend toward real truth. Let's keep pushing strong!

    Do you find that their math is a little more behind as other materials? Someone else has said that. Just trying to figure out what level I should get.

    I don't find their math to be behind at all. They seem to be right on track with their grade level. Hope that helps 😊

    We have tried a lot of different math curriculums as well. We settled on Math With Confidence.

    We do BJU Pre-algebra, there's videos on her posted by private Christian teachers who shared their videos during shut down. I agree don't switch if it's working.

    We choose to switch to math u see for high school math this year. Denison seems like a great program but with 6 kids i need something to reuse or with sibling discounts

    I've never used math u see, but I know a few people that use it. Great option for multiple kids.

    My daughter is taking Denison Pre-Algebra this year - she has a math learning disability and had only gotten through CLE Math 5... she has EXCELLED in Dension Pre-Algebra! She loves math again! He has given her confidence, and he has a great sense of humor :) You won't be disappointed! ---> When your son goes into Algebra 1, make sure to count that as high school credit, whether he is in middle school or not.

    I have found that BJU can be very affordable when buying USED! I used that version of the English with my kids when they were elementary age, and we liked it a lot.

    I paired Uncle Sam and You with the Sonlight US Elections lapbook during the last presidential election - it paired SO WELL - and offered hands-on learning with a piece they could have at the end and keep referencing.

    We are hybrid homeschoolers so the university model school chooses our curricula. We used All About Spelling in Grades 1 & 2. We use BJU a lot (Math, SPelling, Bible, Science).

    I plan to use Denison math as well for my kids when they get older. My kids aren’t advanced with math so I think it will be a perfect fit. But I still go back and forth as to what to use for 7th grade math. Since my kids aren’t advanced I don’t know that I want to put them in Denison at 7th but my current math curriculum only goes until 6… I have a couple years to figure it out.. but I don’t like the idea of doing some random math program for one year. 😏

    Ya that's pretty much where I was at, I didn't want to do a random math for 1 year then switch for the harder math levels. I feel good about the middle school/high school plan for math now. What math are you using now?

    @@raisingthreewildlings we are using Apologia and we love it. Will you have a HS year of not doing math then since since Denison has 5 levels total? That was my other thought if I would feel like they are ready for it in 7th that leaves one year of no math for HS.

    My son used pre algebra for seventh this year and did great with it! In NY they only need two math credits for high-school so in 8th he'll do algebra 1, 9th geometry, and 10th algebra 2. If he wants to do more after that he can, but it's not required. Denison is the best thing that's happened to our homeschool! You'll all love it!

    I literally think we’ve went through about every math out there as well. Singapore math, Abeka, Masterbooks, Math with Confidence, Beast Academy, Horizons, Math Mammoth, Charlotte Mason Math, there was also one online I can’t remember. We finally settled on TGTB, both my son and I love it!

    "There is a lot of prayer and thought that goes into choosing curriculum." Amen! I've done a whole workshop at a homeschool conference about how to pray about each aspect of our kids' education and character training. It's nice to see other homeschool moms doing what God is guiding them to do, and not just what other people are doing.

    I just have to say, there is so much that needs to go into raising children. This is the most important thing we can do. I can't say how grateful I am for the Lord blessing me with these children that he's honored us to charge and with her. I have seen the kind of improvements, due to her efforts that I would never see with public or paid education. If you're struggling with this concept for your children, follow her! It works in a way that makes them (and you) truly exceptional!

    Ordered introductory science from science shepherd for my two early elementary…I think it was a cyber Monday sale..haven’t started it yet but I’m looking forward to the format. I think they will think it’s cool to have a turn at the computer and do it solo. And it will give me extra opportunities to do things with the two toddler boys.
