Attenuating on the pultec is sooooo good. It cuts so hard but in such a clean way. And it's curves are insane.

No saturation with the clipper for what I understand.
@uw0tm8382 күн бұрын
The differences are due to presets having polar opposite settings. When the old version uses stereo mode and nickel (saturation on highs), the new one uses dual mono and steel (saturating lows) etc.

How did you get such a Motown sound with the tracks even before the Eq? Sounds niiice
@gdanila5 күн бұрын
Joe, going less than 100% on a parallel effect defeats the purpose. Especially on parallel processing you can be heavy handed depending on what quality you want to enhance in a certain sound. This technique is obviously used to increase the energy of the snare body in certain spots of the arrangement so why not use 100% of it but in a smaller amount? If you come to think of it, parallel processing is an additive process not a destructive process like serial processing.
@GreenLightSound5 күн бұрын
I present the technique as he does it. I wouldnt go less then 100% parallel, but he does.
@gdanila5 күн бұрын
That is actually more due to level increase when you bring up the parallel channel. The LA-2A does little to nothing given its parallel context. I would be more aggressive with the compression on the parallel so it also creates movement and depth. I would also not advise for a strict recipe because we all know Andrew doesn’t have a fixed gain structure, instead he always relies on his ears.

Put it in the master channel, or a separate output for headphones. If you do put it on the master, just make sure you bypass before you bounce the mix.

Yes! This is what many of us forgot to do in the early days when we recorded and tried our best to get that nice punchy and natural drum sound, but something was wrong even if we tweaked filters in hours on the close up mics, and still only the room mic sounded nice but to much cymbals in it. This was and are one of the great trick that the old producer guys told us to do with expanders and gates when we recorded analog and use the close up snare mic sound to trig open a gate or expander, specially for a nice snare sound and also not to use compressor to much on drums, okey, (tape do that job pretty great when record analog as well) After tuning the drums properly ,You have room mic sounding nice and you have a close up snare mic that sounds...boring, but tight. This technique is the way to go for a natural and great drum sound! Mix these sounds together! Maybe some cut in high freq on the room "burst" Great trix! Exact what this video describes. Thanks for the video!

@GreenLightSound20 күн бұрын
High pass filter cuts out the low end at a set frequency, allowing the highs to "pass" through. You can set the slope to be very gradual, or very steep. High shelf filters work on the top end of the spectrum, boosting or cutting at a set gain level above whatever frequency you set. They literally look like a flat shelf when you see the EQ curve.

wow the first video I looked up to check out this plugin and it is EVERYTHING i wanted it to be: 1. First run through the different plates on a great sounding finished vocal on a realistic mix setting. 2. Next run through the different plates at 100% mix to hear their character. 3. Lastly, run through different plates of the key competitors that many of us already have. You are incredible. I wish everyone thought like you - this is the most logical way to do a review. In the end, I really found myself lusting after Lustruous plates... but I also had to remind myself that I have such incredible options already and that nobody would ever be able to point it out in a finished mix. With that said, I already have Seventh Heaven and will definitely pick this up when there is a good enough sale price. Thanks again!

This might be a silly question, but if the track already has EQ and compression added should the Aphex be placed after them? I guess the answer is yes because we would have already get the basic tone with EQ and stabilize dynamics with compression so the Aphex after will just enhance what's already been done right? Your videos are amazing by the way. You explain things in a way that is easy to digest and understand. Thank you very much.
