That is the best looking, quality rear rack for this bike IMO in my recent online search for one. Seemed a bit steep at $250, but you get what you pay for a lot of the time; this is definitely the one I'm going to get. Looks really good on your bike as well as the engine guards. I just picked up my green SCL500 yesterday and got a solid few hours riding in, i love the bike! Thanks for sharing the how to install on this.

There is a slappingniose when it tries to start. Will not keep running once you release brakelever and started button. I'm thinking cam chain tensioner went out.there were alot of brass colored shavings in oil filter

Pulling the clutch assembly is not necessary. The only tricky part is getting the funky spring in place. I did it so any moron can do it!😁

Thanks for the video , I have just ordered the ja65 kit , was curious as to what it really looks like. Now I know , great stuff. But I'd think I better get some spare slave cylinder O-rings...not sure these two wont need replacement eventually (them being so close to one another around incompatible fluids...). Any idea where I could find those ? (maybe from webike ?) Very helpfull video even if made by a diy-er (I'm a mechanic ). Thanks again.

Thanks for the kind words. Glad it was helpful. I think it is probably a smart idea since they have different compositions. I would try Takegawa first, Webike would be a good choice as well. The questions is how long will the seals last and will you be able to keep track of the replacements if you get them now.... ( I sometimes struggle to find stuff I bought two months ago...)

I don't think you need to pull the clutch pack out to replace the kickstart. After removing the cover gently as not to ruin the shaft seal and decompression shaft seal, the kickstart shaft, spring, idler gear, assembly should be ready to remove. It makes it easier to check your work to make sure that the gear engages and returns to idle position.

Well I for one of the XR150L owners am interested in your results. I have noted that the North American version has no Kickstart, very disappointing . Can I ask what tires are you using and how you use your bike on road / off road . Also the skid plate link / cost . In Canada the bike is $5300 out the door . My Navi was $3412 and is the best cheap city bike available. That said I live just outside a large city , rural and the extra speed of the XR150L is more comfortable at those increased speeds . So far 4000 klms. My top speed 105+klms. Wishing for at least 115 klms with a few upgrades , like a working Big block kit . So far I real love this its comfortable seat , light handling great gas mileage , and the simplest controls. I claim it best retirement bike purchase ever ok must have beginners bike as well . Thoughts and options anyone ?

It was a bit of a drag to have to add that kickstart myself, but a fun project. I am using Shinko 804/805's and I like them alot. The Navi should help you learn good riding basics, adding the manual transmission adds some complexity to the whole motorcycle riding thing, helps if you drive a manual car but a different animal to learn. Cool video Chris. I have a 2013 model that I'd like to add a kickstarter too as well. Not sure why Yamaha stopped adding it to the bike but left the rubber plug in the side of the case, lol.

They left the hole in the case and the gear on the back of the clutch basket as well. I have that Honda XR150L and those two parts would have saved me about $200 on that kickstart install.

Cost Savings would be my bet. They save on the cost of the parts that they dont have to include. It is probably not a ton of money, but it helps them get to the low MSRP. That would be my best guess.

Nice job on the video! I didn't know these existed. I might have considered this when I had first purchased mine, But now I've "become one" with mine after many miles and don't reach for that lever anymore. Nice Lineup you got! Stay safe!! P.S. I don't get many Harleys to wave back at me either, You know when they are coming towards you and you see a patch covered leather vest or monkey bars and armpit hair, that they are not going to wave. All I know is that I'm smiling ear to ear, and you never see any grin on them, Who's having more fun?

Nice job on the video! I didn't know these existed. I might have considered this when I had first purchased mine, But now I've "become one" with mine after many miles and don't reach for that lever anymore. Nice Lineup you got! Stay safe!! P.S. I don't get many Harleys to wave back at me either, You know when they are coming towards you and you see a patch covered leather vest or monkey bars and armpit hair, that they are not going to wave. All I know is that I'm smiling ear to ear, and you never see any grin on them, Who's having more fun?
