I'm a very fit and active 62 year old. RE: Triggers. The 1st time I had shingles I know exactly what triggered it. I was in my mid 40's doing yoga teacher training. We were encouraged to work on headstands by the instructor. One day, coming down from the headstand I felt a shooting hot pain flash across my left neck/shoulder area. It disappeared as quickly as it happened. Exactly 7 days later I had shingles on my neck and shoulder. I'm certain that the unusual stress to my upper cervical spine "woke up" the virus. It was a mild case and didn't spread past my neck and shoulder but it was not a pleasant experience. Since then, it has happened twice, both were in times of high stress when I made a sudden movement with my neck, I felt that shooting momentary pain again, then a few day later a patch of slightly inflamed, itchy skin would appear on that side of my neck. It does not blister or become any more than a palm size patch of slightly inflamed skin that is mildly itchy. I discontinue my regular activities (hiking, racket sports, etc) because sweating perpetuates this. I treat it topically by soaking in oat and sea salt baths (luke warm to cool) and clean the area with diluted apple cider vinegar. I also large doses of L-Lysine, vitamin D, C, until the mild outbreak is over. I also stop eating dairy, eggs, chocolate and sugar. Because it was so many years between the recurrences I had forgotten why I was taking 1000 mg of L-Lysine daily and stopped doing it. That's when it happened for the 3rd time. I won't forget that again.

I’ve had bad eczema since I was a child (30yrs old now) but the last 2 years I’ve started to get two itchy fingers on my right hand. It’s the strangest thing to me that it’s only those two fingers, and not any others though. (It’s the middle and ring finger.) I eventually noticed that I get tiny blistery bumps on them and those are what itch and then will break open and be a sore. About a year ago after some internet research I learned about DH and thought maybe that’s it. So I started attempting to cut gluten. Took me a while to realize how many things it was hidden in like sauces and stuff so I wasn’t completely gf. Eventually after I got better about knowing what had gluten in it my fingers seemed to get better and now they occasionally seem to flair up still. I do still eat fries which I know are cross contaminated so I’m wondering if that’s enough to be affecting me or if I’m getting exposed to hidden gluten still sometimes in other stuff. After watching this though I do wonder if there’s something more going on too. My regular eczema has seemed to be better just with occasional flares since trying to be gf so idk. I need to finally talk to my doctor about it, I haven’t yet because in the past with my eczema they just want to give me steroids and I don’t want that route any more. I do have some Gi issues that I’ve had since I was a teenager too but I don’t think I’d say that it’s gotten 100% better with going gf, maybe a little but my diet still hasn’t been great overall so I’m sure there’s more that needs worked on there.

I just reached the part where you discuss medications. I do not tolerate Methotrexate, and refuse to try it again. Cartexan helped tremendously, but lowered kidney function to 62%. I am currently left with Prednisone as the only helpful medication, and it's known for bad side effects.

Finally, at age 62, this has become obvious after a lifetime of misdiagnoses. I went from RA to Lupus, back to RA, then Dermatitis Myositis?, Crohns, ending with Collagenous Colitis. The odd acute arthritis in the shoulders/elbows developed shortly before being hospitalized from septic shock. The sepsis developed from Staph Aureus entering the blood stream from the intestines. One elbow was permanently damaged while in the hospital. My granddaughter calls it my Barbie arm, because it's permanently bent like some of her dolls. The psoriasis first appeared on my legs a month after being released from the hospital. It took 4mths to remove the staph Aureus bacteria which completely infiltrated all muscles/organs up to 90% of the body. I had to learn to walk again due to permanent damage to the spine. Now, I find myself here learning how to get control over the psoriasis. I've always had inflammatory arthritis since childhood in most joints, but the elbows and psoriasis have occurred only in the past two years. No one in my family has ever heard of arthritis in the elbows. The psoriasis is mostly on the legs and torso. Now, that I know what it is, I think I've always had it. In the past, it was short lived. I thought it was an allergy to certain soaps and reactions to the sun.

Did the carnivore diet after hearing about it, then had relief for the first time in years. Thats how i knew it was diet related and not atopic dermatitis. Then slowly added stuff and checked on the rash till i knew for sure it was gluten. It sucks to have DH, but hey atleast my skin is back to normal.

Ive had a serious wound for over 3 years after having an emergency operation on my groin, which turned out to be an absess. It then turned into a fistula to which might cost me anythng up to 25 operations and still no damned cure so what is the point? I have spent over £3,000 to treat this fistula myself because doctors will not provide me with any medication, or wound dressings but happy to give me operations! I am disgusted, i have been treating this myself for over 3 years, and i am 78 years old and entitled to free prescription ! I think it is an utter disgrace!! Doctors should check my amazon account and see the amount of medications of just about every type and stacks of wound dressings! i think its time i complained to my MP. I am from East End of London.

Except when you realize that histamines can cause inflammation. Chronic inflammation is a cause of cancer. Unattended long-term inflammation caused by histamines are dangerous. I now know that my grandfather had histamine intolerance and died from cancer. Plenty of studies show both the histamines causing inflammation and inflammation causing cancer. I just put the two together by using the experience from my grandfather. I inherited that trait unfortunately. It's definitely something that needs attention, immediately once you have made the determination that it's the root cause of your symptoms. It only took me 40ish years to figure it out.

Candida is an extremely resiliant organism. I struggled on the Anti Candida Diet. It was a complete waste of time. I did beat it thought, easily in the end and i didn't even cut out sugar from my diet. It's been several years since i beat it and I've just cured my 27 year old daughter with the same method. The daughter has urged me to write a blog about is as so many people are getting frustrated with all the BS being touted and regurgitated by social media influencers, including those from the medical profession, so that's what I'm going to do in my spare time. I'm going to help all you frustated people heal your candida easily.

What’s interesting is that a lot of my clients have been getting a myriad of skin conditions diagnosed as a result of hormone imbalance but they don’t feel or look better with HRT until I help them implement effective personalized lifestyle changes. After that, they have no need for prescriptions. Many of my people prefer not being dependent on prescriptions and enjoy the flexibility of traveling globally with a light carry on.

Thank you for this podcast. It is so important to get to the root causes of illnesses. I have an epileptic cat who just began receiving NAET through her holistic vet. We are trying to find and treat the root cause of the seizures instead of merely medicating the seizures because they are clearly a symptom of some other disorder in her body. I wish the doctor would have mentioned that NAET stands for Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques. The techniques were devised by Devi Nambudripad, a California-based chiropractor and acupuncturist in 1983. It incorporates a combination of ideas from applied kinesiology, acupuncture, acupressure, nutritional management, and chiropractic methods. I also wish she would have told people how they actually know if the vial is an allergen. The person sits and holds the vial. They take a deep breath and reach the arm not holding the vial out straight in front of them. The practitioner tries to gently push the arm down. Allergens will make the arm weak and it will fall quickly. If the vial is not an allergen, the arm will not fall. This is repeated for all suspected allergens until several are identified to try to rid. The treatment consists of a series of presses along the spine and some deep breathing while holding the vial. Now, with a cat it’s different. The vial is held on the cat and the person holding the vial to the cat puts his or her arm out and the process is then the same. This works because of the same principle with the mom and baby and breast milk in the doctor’s story. I know this all sounds like complete wacky nonsense, however, for some reason, it does work for many allergy sufferers. I am hopeful that it will also help my cat with her epileptic issues. 🤞
