Welcome to Blackjack's. This is where I generate content that's mostly custom motorcycle based, or to put it another way I'm ruining perfectly good motorcycles as my Dad likes to call it. I'm going to be building things, I'll be doing some "how-to's", I'll be looking at some tools, and from time to time (once the sun's out and lockdown is over) maybe even a few bike videos.
Hang around, it's moderately interesting. :-)
And you could Subscribe and click on the bell, that way you'll get a notification and save yourself the hassle of remembering.

Could you do that chat about how the wiring diagram is simple when you think of it as a series of simple diagrams overlaying each other? The way you battered into my Northern Turnip lol
I'll think about it, but it would mostly be remaking the video I did???
really great, thanks.
No problem. 👍
Yep the germans like black to be battery positive, excellent colour choice there.
It is true that many people just automatically assume that black is a ground wire. You can only assume they've never wired a Chinese LED light in...
I got a black wire that come of the starter when key is turned on it is hot do i need to run it to the copper side of me 30 amp breaker thats were i have my rectifier going to anything info would help
Whats this on?
@@BuiltatBlackjacks 1995 1200xl sportster
The 30 amp breaker has the output from the regulator (red) and a wire to the ignition switch (also red) on one side, the black wire from the starter goes to the other terminal according to the diagrams I've looked at. You said the black wire from the starter is hot with the ignition on? Should be hot all the time since it's what actually sends power to the ignition switch???
@@BuiltatBlackjacks ty for the help
Are you going to look at patina finishes next? With those finishes dents can be part of the look.
Most of the stuff I've got lying around a patina finish would involve washing the dust off and waxing it. :-)
@@BuiltatBlackjacks point taken. Short video.
What if my igniter is not grounded? What are the symptoms? I have fzr 1000, I thought to replace cdi, it misfires, running really bad, not driveable. And do I need resistor assy on wire harness or this is all about other electronic installation like lights etc.? cause this engine is on the buggy, so I didnt put resistor back. Now Im in trouble and searching for a clue to get it running
Never wired an FZR100, so I'm guessing here, but if it runs, chances are it's not the Igniter Box, maybe a bad connection? If you have a diagram, my e-mail is on here, I can have a look at it, but no promises...
Flat it back , then paint it black , with Blackjack , lovely
Let us spray....
Its super helpful, thanks so much!
Glad it helped.
You have an artist bent,
I used to know a bloke who forged bank notes. He was a bent artist... 🤣
@@BuiltatBlackjacks RIP Fester lol
Crazy skills. Love it!
Thanks man.
Top man very knowledgeable your articles where the best part of the magazine 👍🏻
Thanks. 👍
Nice fj 😁 I’ve got one of those too
Ahh... that's a project bike. Just got an FZR1000 EXUP rear wheel for it with a 5.5 rim. and there's a frame in the offing too. Just don't hold your breath. :-)
@@BuiltatBlackjacks very nice mine has been stuck on the lift as well haven’t even gotten to ride it yet it’s been a couple years but hopefully sooner than later we will both have them on the road tearing up :) , does the fzr wheel require any modifications to the swingarm to work? Seems like something i may be interested in doing in the future maybe you can make a video on here about it 😁
@Mystic-p1mp I'm told the wheel will fit the stock frame without too much hassle. The FJ owners club (UK) had an article on fitting one. I'm not too concerned because I'm using a different frame. instagram.com/p/B3w0-h0BpOS/?igsh=a3o3ZWI1cWIycGp0 😁
@@BuiltatBlackjacksgot to love a big old yam. I've got an xjr1200, it's abilities surpass my meagre skills...😆
@karlcritchley7373 yeah I used to run a stock FJ1100 as my daily. Maybe not the flashest thing ever, but if you needed to eat sone miles....
Filmed before you went grey lol
Actually filled this week. But now you've been deported, the colour has started to come back... 😁
I do a lot of talking to myself too. great video!
It's often the only way to get a sensible conversation. 😊
Why did you use an AI voice? It’s so bad. And it seems like you have good info to share but the narrator makes this video unwatchable.
Because basically I have some health issues, and I make these kind of videos when I'm having a bad day. I can write the script and get the AI to "read" it in less time than it takes me to make a decent recording of the first paragraph between the coughing and the brain fog.

Thanks. :-)
Can you make a vid on how to rejet a carb for a air box delete
In my experience, nine times out of ten with CV carbs you don't need to re-jet the carbs. Usually it's down to incorrect valve clearances, poorly balanced carbs, or the pod filters blocking an airway, very often, that last one, hence the idea that you can add some PVC pipe between the carb and the filter to "fix" it. CV carbs adjust their own slide position based on how much air is flowing through the carb. More airflow, slide opens further, mixture is richer. If its something with heavy emissions crap, or induction silencing maybe then, but always check the other stuff first. Slide carbs, normally you're not flowing that much more air, and the airflow is limited by the size of the carb, so adjust the idle air/fuel screw for a little more fuel, and raise the needle a notch if it needs it. But again, before messing with it check and adjust valve clearances, carb balance and idle settings. I'll add a video to the list though, good idea. :-)
More work than making a frame from scratch 😅
Too true. This is what I get for trying to have a quick easy project....
It's a spanner.... Ya spanner
Not if the majority of your audience is American. This is the world stage. Not the frozen North where you have to put ferrets down your trousers for warmth...
thank you😊
Happy to help. :-)
I've recently lost everything in my life. And all I have is this old Kawasaki. And motivation to get to work and I am rewiring it from scratch and having one hell of a time, I can't get any assistance and all I have.Is this KZread video Wish me luck.
Wiring is a bit of a dark art, it's not difficult as such it's just a bit of a dark art. Let me know how you get on?
Thank you. Thank you so God, d*** much. You have no idea how long I've been looking for a man like you with a video like this.
You're welcome.
2:35
The first two and half minutes are spent on FAQ's about making things that people have had in the past. Since its a CB750 you cant really reuse the headstock, you don't need to get axle plates laser cut, and the easiest way to keep seat rails lined up is to build them as a sub assembly with the top tube on the bench.
@@BuiltatBlackjacks Thank you
That's great. Consider doing one about half wave 4 pin reg/recs? That's the one bit different on some pit bikes, and bikes with Chinese pit engines (lifan/cub). There's not 3 yellow wires coming from an alternator, but one yellow and one white to get your 12v from. I THINK I've got it sussed now, but if I had a how to vid like that, it would have made things a lot easier.
There are a few differences, and even here this video skips lightly over the ignition system. The combinations of what you might have are vast, did you know the early CX500 has the same sort of self powered ignition set up as pit bikes etc?
top video
Thanks. :-)
Where can I get these screw on brake line fittings?
Ebay has the straight up and down Goodridge type. For the swivel ones, Google Speedflow to find a supplier.
Many thanks, will these fittings work on the original rubber hoses?@@BuiltatBlackjacks
@@thundertiger76 No. But the correct type of hose isn't very expensive. 5 or 6 pounds a metre.
Thanks again :-)
Great work
Thanks :-)
Thank you to share this information with us.. I learned a lot from this video
Nice to see you watched then all. :-)
That's great job and very educationally discrimination.. thanks
You're welcome
For the first time ever, KZread recommended something good. Bristol Blackjack/Mr. Bridges? Real world sensible, safe, engineering-based chopping rather than"works of art" built out of conduit. Good work.
Glad you liked it.
Hello, I would like to know the dimensions in cm to get the right measurements.
I'm not sure I understand? The point is that you set the parts up and measure them? So if you need it in centimetres, just measure it in centimetres?
@@BuiltatBlackjacks I wanted to make the same frame as you did with the measurements in cm, as I imagine you use inches.
@roxe104 I don't keep the measurements for a frame. Every one I make is different. They probably look similar, but they're not. Which frame were you thinking about? There are a few in the video...
great analysis of gussets! thanks for the info
You're welcome.
:)
Exactly... :-0
This happens all too often. There's a KZreadr who had it happen to him recently and almost went blind. Not even using a safety guard either. You get what you ask for sometimes lol
The point here is that using a cutting disc on a factory motorcycle frame is a dumb idea. Relying on a guard, pair of gloves, whatever isn't going to stop it from happening. What would stop it from happening is using a hacksaw, because every time you pick a grinder up, you're asking for trouble...
Co worker got 72 stitches in his face for this kinda stupidity and youre still making excuses. Smh
72 is an awful lot of stitches? Fwiw I've seen a guy narrowly miss cutting open his jugular in a similar event and he was wearing a full face mask. Do you wear leg protection if you're using a cutting disc? Cause your femoral artery can just as easily get severed as your face can get 72 stitches. My point here was if you don't need to use one, don't. and mostly you don't need to use one.
@BuiltatBlackjacks I get it. He was cutting through a weld at ground level, lying down. A base plate from a vertical beam. Grinder bucked ( like yours did ) and cut through cheek, nostril, teeth, gums, chin and then across his forearm. My point is there really is no excuse to not wear PPE or to not have a guard on your grinder. I've been doing this 37 years and your BSing yourself. Plus where i am it's actually illegal now. Cheers! Stay safe. 🍻✌️
Two words .... Face shield
As a rule, I find I cant see a damn thing through a face shield. Two better words in this instance would have been hack saw. :-)
What do you mean no plans? You planned so you could make frames. Duh !
In this context "plan" is a noun, not a verb. :-)
Do you now use a guard on the grinder after this accident?
No, guards are more trouble than they're worth for me, often making it impossible to get the disc anywhere near the work and providing some where for the disc to jam things.
Looking for something like this for a long time for my xs400. No regulator or rectifier?
This was strictly wiring the ignition system so it could be fired up because we were selling it, and stuff sells better if people know it runs. Is your XS400 points ignition? you'll need a charging circuit if you're planning on riding it anywhere, I think the XS400 used a combined regulator rectifier rather than separate boxes, but either way you can buy a combined reg/rec that'll work quite happily. Thin you might be better off with this video though... kzread.info/dash/bejne/mad3msaCc5ecops.htmlsi=mfoddrkcIlkexPfJ
Im thinking of redoing the wiring on my 98 Vulcan. That harness is crussstyyyyy
Mostly I'm talking about wiring chops etc. where you're starting from scratch more or less. If it all works but just looks bad, might be better just to cut the old wrap off and rewrap it with looming tape? Certainly easier. :-)
Is this modeled after a amen jammer?
It's based on the plans from the Garage section of Hondachopper.com, and those were drawn up from measuring a 70's aftermarket frame. If I recall correctly Amen frames had a shaped plate for the rear motor mounts? This has a bolt in upper rear mount, so I'd say no. Think it might have been a D&D?
You need a "Pete Mate" for lifting engines out😂
Very true, taking engines out of things left right and centre at the moment...
When you going to start doing Merchandise?
Soon-ish. Looking at on line, print on demand stuff, but the hold up at the moment is getting the logos sorted.
