    You kinda destroyed the geometry of the thing, rounding over all the details. Power tools are great because they do things fast. They're also terrible because they screw things up fast. Should've used sanding blocks.

    I just pulled my DD-750x out of the box and, in an effort to try something new, I decided to read the instructions. That led me to KZread for the manufacturers video and ultimately to here. This is a super hands-on, in the workshop, practical application video! I, too, recently did the math and decided I've spent just about enough on drill bits over the past [insert number] years. Fortunately, like most of the DIYers who have, or will be, watching this, I don't have the inner strength to throw away perfectly dull drill bits - even ones that snapped off just above the drill chuck (no, I won't try sharpening those - but they help tell the story). Anyway, thanks for the boost of confidence, Brian. I'm off to resurrect the contents of my shoebox and prove to myself that it's ok keep some things that appear beyond the help of superglue and duct tape!

    I replaced the transom same way you did on my 1987 Bayliner. I used long drill bits to remove most of the wood in the transom along with some large heavy screwdrivers to scrape the old glued on wood from the fiberglass walls. Designed a long hose to reach on down and vacuum out any residual wood and scraps. The transom was as hard as a rock and lasted the rest of the lifetime of that boat which was decades before it was junked. DIY not to hard. Going to redo the transom on my 1983 V20 that I just started worked on.

    I don't understand how the gate valve works. When you start to close the valve wouldn't that just cause the air to speed up not produce less air flow. I know your system somehow works but if you could explain it that would be great.

  • @HouseMadeUS
    @HouseMadeUS19 күн бұрын

    Air works like water, so the gate valve slows the flow, just like water. In fact air can be measured using water column.

    fyi. I plasma cut your rev 5 plates recently, like last week. Your hinge plates (3/8" material) have the 3/4" pivot holes drawn at .77. Seemed all the other holes were drawn to size, any particular reason for this? I found that too large to pivot accurately (lots of slop in the 3/4" hinge bolt), and my plasma table is set to offset holes smaller than they really are. I would've emailed, but I couldn't find an address on your site

  • @HouseMadeUS
    @HouseMadeUS19 күн бұрын

    You can adjust the kerf on your plasma table to adjust for tighter tolerances. We use .77 due to being cut by laser and our bolts have a zinc coating so we require that small bit there. Easy enough fix is to just tighten that big axle bolt more and it will cinch up nicely. Thank you.

  • @kjbigslim
    @kjbigslim17 күн бұрын

    @@HouseMadeUS aren't co2 lasers more accurate than plasma? My bolts also have the zinc coating. Your bolts in the video appear to have an accurate fit. Like I said. All the other holes were fine with my kerf offsets in place. It's not really a problem. I plan to re-cut them and mill them to size. Just thought you'd like to know

    Hey new subscriber just can from your treadmill motor video. I was wondering if you could use a treadmill motor in reverse to generate power if you hooked it up to a bike. I have a stationary bike and i have figured almost everything out but i don't know how to control the power generation without gears on the bike. I just have an old exercise bike that just uses a friction pad to slow down the flywheel. I would like to be able to turn the resistance up or down on the DC motor to generate more or less power making it easier or harder to Pedal . Any chance you can help with this. Even just the smallest tip to get me in the right direction would be huge. Your videos are great keep them coming
