    Unfortunately, although this covers the concepts very well and the video says e90, E92 (and e91), do not assume that this video applies to newer vehicles or the E93. The newer seatbelt mechanisms are considerably more complicated than this and the E93 convertible has a totally different mechanism. Great help overall but the newer retracters are different. Just a little heads-up.

    Unless I'm missing something, the whole concept of our safety (for this model of seatbelt) rests on the little white plastic tab that engages the teeth on the blue wheel.

    OUR LIVES ARE HOLDING ON PIECES OF PLASTIC 😄.... NO NO...Actually you ARE missing something,.as far as i understood that mecanism or white plastic as you described it is only responsible for locking the seat belt when the car is inclined, to hold you dearly and not let you fall from your seat, but when it's about safety, if there is a small accident for example or you suddenly stop , there is a second mecanism activated that locks the seat belt, it's not in plastic in that case don't worry, it's real steel and it's just below the blue plastic, in extreme cases if ALLAH forbid there is a serious accident that requires the popping of airbags, then the locking is terminal and irreversible, even if you try to repair the seatbelt after you won't be able to restore same way it was and it won't be as secure enough, that mecanism is bit more complicated and it's located on the other side that was not opened in this video, and it starts with a little explosion

    CIREM3- If you remove the ball bearing and reinstall the belt, will the belt still lock up when you pull it, as in a wreck? It's been my experience that manufacturers seldom include non-functioning or useless parts in anything.

    Thank you! This video just saved me $901.89. That’s what the Hyundai dealership was going to charge me just to replace the seatbelt. My issue was a little different than what your video was about, because when I opened the mechanism I found that there was a string wrapped around things, which caused it to stay locked in place. Almost went into debt over a piece of string.

    I have replaced my black belts with some red ones (genuine) and they seem to pull fine at a certain angle. When installed in the car 99% of the time i cannot pull the belt keeps getting stuck... even when it does work it keeps tightening up while driving. Would this procedure work on a 2011 Mercedes w204? EDIT: I have managed to fix the issue. The belts are very sensitive to the position they are held in. I straightened the location added a new bolt and the issue is now fixed and belts work perfectly.

  • @deevulturegaming285
    @deevulturegaming2854 жыл бұрын

    I had the same problem. I could pull the belt only at a certain angle, what i did was that I bent the metal where the seatbelt it is attached in such angle that the belt worked. That fixed the problem.

    This VISUALLY helped me understand and get the belt out of a 1997 dodge ram van seat belt.(ball bearing style) Removed the passenger seat to mount a security device and BAM, the re-tractor ate the whole belt and it was tight, no slack, not budging and I knew nothing about seat belts. That bearing is sensitive and wants to be level when pulling on the belt. Half the other vids I watched showed guys yanking the belt like a hot dog which makes no sense. 1. Make sure the seatbelt box is level like it is originally mounted.Tip a few degrees here and there to find that sweet spot. 2.Real in slow till you hear a click. 3.Pull the belt out gently and slowly. There is another mechanism in the device that locks it up if you yank!
