My family and I have made many visits to Thailand. Our teen son was an avid Muay Thai athlete and the best training in the world can be found here. Our original plan was for my wife and son to relocate to Thailand in 2020, and then COVID hit, drastically changing our plans and putting our whole family in limbo.
The time has come. Join us as we share our journey and our experiences.
Many have asked how they might contribute to show appreciation because they found my content helpful or useful. I have created the option to "Buy Me a Coffee"... I am not a big coffee drinker but will put it to good use. Thank you.

The Grandkids will love this place thanks Jill Clemens from sub birds of Philly area
Great Vid & totally understand & agree with everything you’ve outlined. I did exactly the same thing around 3 years ago - no looking back. In fact, I recognise your estate & the mountain behind & I could almost guess the very house you’re in. We are in an adjacent very similar village project, probably no more than 3 minutes away. Would be great to somehow catch up & compare experiences / thoughts first hand.
What a nice place. I heard about this resort but never had a chance to visit yet. Dave, I think the name in Thai pronounced A- nan-ta sila 😊
Nine dollars for Nachos! Almost American prices.
Great video thanks, and good idea to help other expats with trustworthy info for those looking to purchase in Thailand :-)
Kim is very beatiful.
only thai can buy land and house so can you explain ?
If you are making a payment 2-3 times what it would be to rent...then years later you sell and break even... didn't the 2-3 time mortgage mean you lost out to renting?
You like all the rest are full of it,your description is misleading as You know, owning a home assumes the land it’s on,as you know. You don’t.
500 THB per person right?
My wife and I bought the land near by Springfield golf course 13 years ago just waiting for retirement
what website to look for home listings?
Dont think foreigners are allowed to own immovable property in thailand like land or a house. Thai laws are quote clear on this aspect.
Immigrant, you are an immigrant to Thailand.
Good luck for your future and hope everything go well and great life ahead
Burgers & Beers at Hua Hin Market Village! Mmm! Yummy! I want to eat burgers & beers! 😋❤️🍔🍺🍻
They have closed :(
@@AlmostRetiredinThailand What? They closed?
Awesome place! Great Job Dave!!
Thanks 👍
This video was excellent. Can you post a redacted version of your land lease? That would be so helpful. And post those contacts. Also do you have a dishwasher?
Well done, grats from Norway. Was in Arizona once, visited a friend in queens creek outside of phoenix. Nice area
Our house in Arizona is very close to Queen Creek. Not sure when you were there, but it is growing quickly!!!
@@AlmostRetiredinThailand I was there november 2019. From there I drove along the border to San Diego and took highway one up to SF with stops a Monterey and Morro Bay.
Thanks, we will go there in November.
You will not be disappointed. Still our favorite place. We go about once a week.
I'm Thai living in the States. Im blown away with your house buying. I looked into buying a place in the NE province and couldn't get away with anything lower than $250K. Your house is a great deal for that location. Hua Hin???
Yes, the south part of Hua Hin. Kt is a small house but perfect for us... and the view... is amazing!!!
@AlmostRetiredinThailand my husband and I haven't been there (or the southern provinces or even Chiang Ma)i, but seeing your video and another guy showing what's available around there, it's a definite future visit. I thought Pattaya beach areas are amazing, but now I think Hua Hin is even better.
Thanks for sharing, fun video...Still in Florida, but purchased land in Krabi and will be moving soon! Hope you continue to enjoy yourselves and share your experiences!
Nice and congrats on the land in Krabi. Kim loves it there!!!
Hi! Truly enjoyed and appreciate you sharing! How does the home buying work? Credit checks, closing costs, down payment?
As far as I know all purchase by foreigners must be in cash... not 100% sure but I think this is how it is.
@@AlmostRetiredinThailand thanks! Do they require a certain credit score?
Keep going. :)
I will be in hua hin in next three weeks 😊 my house is very close to you too 😊
Looks great, and I love pizza. All you can eat, I will definitely have to avoid this place 😂.
Nice to review the best Brunch in Hua Hin and around...
What soi is key on
Is it only in Hua Hin
It's in Paknampran, along the beach road.
super cheap.
I’ll be in Hua Hin in October so I am expecting a buffet from you guys!
Welp... we will both be in the states in October, returning November 15th.
@@AlmostRetiredinThailand Then I'll fly back to Thailand for just one day to get that free buffet, and fly back to SoCal the next day!
So cool! Is it easy to get a bolt or grab out of that area back to Hua hin?
To be honest I am not 100% sure. Getting there, no problem. Not sure of getting back.
Wow ! Just left the area about 10 days ago, wish I had known about Ley
It is so good!!!
Lol,Dave and Kim I'll be there August 25 and ready to go to the pizza buffet at Ley!! I'm from Arizona I think I heard you say you lived in Az? Thanks for the great videos.
I will be back in the states myself, but sure Kim would love to meet up.
Yes, we have a house in Mesa and have lived Mesa Gilbert area for over 20 years.
So yummy!!! Can't wait to go back!!!
So good!
Looks delicious 🎉 and attractive prices
I'm Vegan, Gluten-Free and stay away from Oil and Salt. Nothing for me to eat but the napkins ha. Looks awesome though.
What a great spot
Sure is!!!
Great spread,,, nothing wrong with being a carnivore,,, Great food as always!
Amazing food!!
Incredible nice video, here in Miami it's came to high for living, thank you
All that food looked GREAT ! :) Great Fireworks too !
It was a good time all around!!!
I would definitely love to have a real estate expert talk about the ins and outs of real estate in Thailand; not as investment, but in terms of buying, building, renovating, etc. It's so different from what we're used to. For example, I've been here for years, and your explanation of the leasehold provisions is the first time I've heard of that option. Very informative.
Quite a place!!😊
Looks like a great time and place!
It was!
Still catching up on your video…finished your first scuba video a few minutes ago. Congrats on getting your AOW! Myself, I haven’t been scuba diving for years, made it to Rescue Diver before taking my long break, and want to pick it back up when I move to Thailand. I’ll just have to buy new gear, to replace my old ScubaPro gear, before I do venture back down.
One refresher course and you should be good to go. Someday we may own our own gear, but find the rental grlear good as well.
Belated congratulations on the new house! Coming to Thailand next month for my first visit and plans are to move there in early 2026 after retirement and then travel East Asia for as long as I can. I’ve been researching my move for two years now, and it’s good to hear about the leasing option, that’s a load off my mind for when I finally decide where I want to live. Looking forward to more videos.
The rules have changed? I used to spend time in Thailand and foreigners could only own a condo. Most of the men I know who "own" a place there have it in their Thai gf's name.
Just remember one thing,, Thailand is not really freedom but really nice and respectful people,,, only you give them respect you'll be fine, but a minute you disrespect them,, your dreams become nightmares in a flash,,, congratulations to both of you,,, nice house,,, and welcome to Thailand,,👍👍
Poor Kim has a cold. Easy remedy, hot lemon and honey drink before you go to bed. You will sleep well, and get up fresh in the morning. Dave you are lucky feasting in a fabulous resort. I took my Ex wife to the Regency Hyatt for dinner for our anniversary. I had 25 peas in my plate, 10 carrot slices, 2 kinds of sauce, and a small piece of meat. As usual when my Ex orders. Her eyes are bigger than her stomach. I finished my dinner, and my Ex was crying. I looked at her plate, and there was a hair in her plate that was about a foot long. This all happened while we were married. From 2000 I have been single what a relief.
I am Thai but I have been working in the U.S. for years and I have about 20 more years to go for my fully retirement benefits. I will be back to Thailand and enjoy like as you guys. Good things are I can buy my own house and can speak Thai. However, Hua Hin may not be my first choice to live but Phuket or Bangkok. Bangkok is a busy city but I have family there. Anyways nice video and enjoy Thailand, I recommend to travel to Chiang Mai. It is cheaper than Hua Hin with nice landscape and weather is also a lot cooler than Hua Hin as well.
Chiang Mai is fantastic. We like the ocean, but not a busy city like Bangkok. We love Thailand. Thanks for commenting.
