You can send webpages fo probably almost all of those devices. Also 4000+ colors are still better than just greyscale? Boox device is a clear winner for me here.

I am on the same predicament, I keep watching reviews but I keep going back to the remarkable 2. Even though It doesn't have a backlight, I want to buy a device for the sole purpose of replacing my notebooks for school/work, to have it next to me for note taking while reading physical books, and to make to do notes for myself. It is also important for me to keep the paper grippy feel, as I hate the feeling of writing on glass and would just go back to paper, also it need to be thin and light enough to fit on my computer bag or briefcase without adding much bulk to it with a long battery because I forget to charge my phone, much less an e-ink! I think it will be hard for me to find anything else other than the remarkable, I just wish they came out with the remarkable 3 already. Have you tried the Supernote A6X2 Nomad? I would love to hear your taughts on it.

The real problem here is that the iPad isn't all that much more expensive than the other options. So even if the remarkable 2 is perfect for your use case, you're still better off buying the ipad because it's infinitely more product for slightly more money and if you go with an ipad mini, it's actually similarly priced

thank you so much for the review, i actually just bought the remarkable 2, and was going in the loop EXACTLY like yours, my notion is actually on its way here! but i think i should also buy an ipad with a paperlike screen, in order to review or to reread material in color and such, right? thank you so much for your story telling!

  • @healthtechgizmos1305

One kinda solution….you can use coloured pens on Remarkable. You cannot see on the device, but when you sync with a laptop or regular tablet you will see the colours. If you really need color on eInk just set your expectation that it is very weak, with minimal colours, due to the eInk screen technology. So if you are coming from a regular iPad or Android tablet it will look very very different. But it may be fine for your use case

Do not trust such reviews because they only play with the device quickly and superficially to attract visitors, and do not test it professionally. The biggest drawback of the Boox device is that it is not possible to type correctly. To say it simply, what you type is different from what is displayed on the screen! I know, it's a very, very simple and general function that's been since the 1980s on PCs and Nokia phones, but it doesn't work properly on this modern device! So before buying, you need to know that it is not possible to type any text in books, notes, office files etc. Only a series of weird characters are typed. For more than a year, dozens of emails and messages have been exchanged between me and the support team, but this simple problem has not been fixed.

This is incredible review!! Could you please help me? I am a student. I want to read and annotate/highlight PDFs (scientific), Substack newsletters, and Reports. I also want to get it back in Google drive (ideally a sync feature will make the workflow seam less: put in GDrive, access in eReader, annotate, access it back in GDrive). 1. Is kindle scribe the device for me or should I look into Boox Tab/Note or Kobo Libra? 2. Is there a good resale market in California? 3. Also, how is the annotation/highlighting and PDF reading experience in general ?

I'm confused... Maybe a remarkable 2 owner can clarify for me? 1. Any PDF can be imported, read, marked up ( but the text can't be modified). Then saved and exported to another device/PC etc? 2. It can be used as an ebook reader and supports all the normal formats? 3. Can you write your own new notes and save them as PDFs?

  • @healthtechgizmos1305

Considering that the boox is an android device, I wonder why the cloud option was so bad. On Android you could sync via gdrive, dropbox, even with synchting. I don't think you really need a specific support for that

Wait, did you know you can do all of that with the Boox Note Air 3C? You can even use it as a secondary display with the Spacedesk App, run Zoom, sync with Google Drive, utilize its own cloud service with autosync, and even use Obsidian instead of the rather subpar Evernote. I don't think it's even expensive. Unlike a phone or any Apple device, it's a one-time purchase that won't become obsolete in six months, especially being an e-ink device.
