Yes, I think it’d be fine. I’d probably go for a taller beam so you get more height on the curve.

Nice display, the wooden pot holders are a lot nicer than the black plastic ones I've seen. Your dog reminded us of our dog Cooper. He was a lovely dog, with kind eyes and always a good boy, he was 11 when we lost him three years ago, we still miss him.
Thank you. You’re right, the black ones do the job but you’re always hoping the plants will grow to cover the pots! Sorry to hear about Cooper, sounds like he was a special friend. Our dog Zuki is always looking for offcuts to chew on, I just to need to keep her away from the treated or painted stuff!

Having rocks in front of the bridge can be hazardous. I would of done something else. Maybe mulch, small rocks, or another plank that would go into the ground..
I wonder how much all those tools were? Jigsaw, miter saw, electric sander, cordless drill. He has been doing jobs like these for years. Someone like me who works behind a desk and rarely picks up a $4 screwdriver, this is challenging. Easy is relative.
Sure, I've been building stuff since I was a kid, so have built up a decent set of tools. Nothing like a workshop though and I've never had any official training. There is nothing technically difficult about this build and I'm sure you could borrow or rent everything I used pretty easily.
Be nice to see an after 2 year video since you've had it for how long now. just curios as to how is the wear on the stain and is it slippery when wet?

I’m wanting to make more compost so wanted some autumn leaves. I’ve been eyeing off all the trees losing their leaves at the moment around where I live (Mid North Coast NSW), so this video has been fantastic, thank you! And I was wondering if it’s ok just to pull up to a park or street and start collecting, so this has given me confidence to do that 😊

It didn’t take long to fill my bags, and no one came and told me to stop, so I’ll be back to that spot again soon 😊 The leaves are from a maple, so I got plenty of the seed pods as well. I assume you remove them before using the leaves?
@@sharonhoffer3599 Nice one! Maple leaves should be good. Yes, I would remove the seed pods where you can, although they are pretty easy to pull out if they sprout so don't worry too much.
Great tip painting on your garlic/chilli concoction onto the scale! Scale is my one big citrus issue I can’t seem to break. I’m gonna use this method for sure. Thank you 🙏🏽 😊
It’s really worked for me. This year I have about 50 lemons on a 6” high tree. I’ve also started using diatomaceous earth for my indoor plants and I’ve had amazing results against scale. Just don’t buy a 2kg tub like I did, 😂, it only takes a few teaspoons to do the whole house with a duster!

Awesome. One question, why do you build before painting? Figure you could paint them first and they would be fully coated. Not a critique, learned a lot, thank you dude ;-p
The wood is treated pine so I was happy not to paint the interior, except where it is in contact with soil. But you’re right, you could also paint first and assemble later.

Brilliant, I want to put a curved bridge over my pond but none of the pre-mades are wide enough to work so I will have to build my own. I was wracking my brain thinking I would have to warp the lumber using water and clamps but your way is brilliant! Do you think it would still work with a 16 ft board or would that weaken the span too much?
16 foot is quite a span. I’m not an engineer so couldn’t say for sure. My guess is it would hold the weight but it might be bouncy. You could always go to a lumber yard and see if they’ll put some long beams on a couple of pallets and see how it feels.

Good looking beds!! I also use some IBC raised bed with success. But yours look better, it give me ideas to improve mine! I worked in food industries and IBC plastic is not permeable, hence it can be washed and rinse. I made holes at bottom and left bottom valve/ 6'' cap open to let excess water (rain) flow out. I filled the bottom with old wood and tree leaves as it will transform in food when it decays and it is free. Then I made a mix of peat moss/compost/black earth to fill the top 12''. Perfect ground for tomatoes and easy to reach! Thanks for sharing your project.

I love this method. Last summer I took a tall v-shaped planter about three feet tall. Added some rocks on the bottom for stability. About midway I put in a plastic round tray that is supposed to go under an indoor plant so it doesn’t drip. The tray is about two inches tall. It rested around the middle of the pot. I cut three pieces of 2x4 to support it. I put lava rocks in the tray. Then I put soil and planted a flowering Alamanda just above the tray. I never put a barrier between the lava rocks and the soil but used the smallest rocks in the tray. I also added a tomato trellis so that the Alamanda had something to climb on. Any excess rain water flowed over the sides of the tray. The Alamanda bloomed profusely all summer. I think I watered it just once. Absolutely a no care system, did a two week vacation when there was very little rain and it was still one happy plant. I’m so enthusiastic about this system. With all the water issues going on I believe this to be the wave of the future for food production. Coupled with tiered gardening it’s coming! Keep experimenting everyone!

Any time I see someone doing construction projects with flip flops on, I know it's going to be a quality, knowledgeable process.
They were heavy duty safety ones... but yeah, I'm definitely guilty of doing way too many jobs in unsuitable footwear.
Ummm next time get a 2×12 and don't pice it together lol

You did an awesome job on this raised beds. What is the last bit of fabric that you put down before you add the top trim?

Going on year 4 with these. Mine are deeper and set up on cender blocks so I don't have to kneel in my old age. I started putting a large shallow tupaware box upside down at the bottom with the lid on and poke holes in the top which now the bottom. Way cheaper than drain pipe. No gravel, no fabric, just dirt. Got about 20 expanding another 20 this year. These things are amazing for dry climates or bad soil.

Really? Where are you based? They are very common here in Australia, and I see a lot of USA based gardeners using them, although they are referred to as Totes.
@@TheBiteSizedGarden thanks I did a search online last night. so far I have found some but they are far away, must be shipped and have minimun quantities of 10 or more usually. I am in the southern part of the USA
