Hi Great video, thanks. Copious amounts of oil and WD40 quieted the oilite rumbling bearings. I found using hand wash liquid soap on the rubber mounts worked well. Firm pressure is required no rod was required, they just snapped back in.

First of all thanks for this super interesting DIY retrofit. Then, my question; probably I am not good for this kind of job enough, though I don’t catch the point about the dash board button.I mean, in a bmw e70 preLCI where I have the dash button, do I need to connect and pull the wires from the tailgate, or it’s just a question of taking the power? Thanks for ur time @Raymond C

Received the kit as promised. Our VW Dealer installed it, it looks and operates as well as if it was original equipment, there are no wires showing, it adjust easily for height and speed of opening. The original key fobs operate as remote controls and the dash and tailgate buttons make it a complete unit. This makes it very safe for a handicapped person to open and close the tailgate. Would recommend it to anyone Great unit

This video was a great help when replacing my 2008 Mercedes SLK 280 Blower Heater Fan. Once I determined that the car in the video is backwards the job went very well. Your car is obviously right hand drive. My Mercedes is left hand drive... I removed the old fan that was making an annoying buffeting noise. There was no label stuck in the fan rotor but there was lots of play in the fan shaft. The fan was apparently rubbing the casing. So, I installed a new fan and new control module. When tested the fan would only run in fast speed. Suspecting the new control module I removed it again and installed the old control module. After the second installation the new fan ran quietly and speed could be adjusted normally. I will return the new defective fan control module for a refund. Thanks, this was a big help.... I will take lots of Aleve for sore muscles tonight. … Ricky

Thanks for a very detailed and professionally done video. I have a 2014 X1 228ix and love it. But the power tailgate was not offered for this model (early production year run) and it’s been driving me crazy for the last four years. Since we only have 40k miles on this car and it’s paid off in February of next year, we’re going to keep it and drive it til the wheels fall off. This same company offers a kit for the X1 2014 model year. I have not seen a video online for that kit - certainly not one that even comes close to your highly detailed presentation. Wondering if you know if there would be a great deal of difference in installation between the E86 model and this one? Or have you ever had occasion to install a kit on a 2014 X1? Either way you did a great job and we (collectively - BMW X Model owners with these non-installed lift/closer kits) are grateful to you for the effort and the job you did. Thanks. Mark

great video Raymond. I appreciate you taking the time to post step by step instructions. one question I had was, you seem to have a cut out on the boot lid cover for the door lock and power gate button on nearside of the latch but you cut out another opening to install it on the off side. what is the purpose of that? cable not long enough to reach? I have placed my order for both power lift gate and kick sensor for My wife's X3 and awaiting for delivery.

Hi, It is a bit difficult to know what the problam is as the information you have give is rather spars. But if the proble is intermittent. I would start by eliminating the posability that one of the connetions between the switch to the control box has not become partialy disconnected during the installation of that wiring loom.
