    The good old dryer which blow air outside is safer. Isn't it? Why do they circulate internal air for dryer. Which is lint heavy, air flow full of lint. It doesn't makes sense when you see how much maintenance you will need to run the dryer safer from fire hazard.

    The demo was very good, and detailed, thank you! Although if that is what you have to do twice a year buy another brand! I absolutely HATE this LG washer dryer combo. This is not only a ridiculous waste of time to clean, but designed horribly and a fire trap!!!! My daughter had an LG Direct Drive Washer Dryer Combo unit. It refused to wash properly, was not draining well, clothes were dirty and dryer just kept going with zero drying. I brought my tools and did major surgery on it. I opened up the whole back, top, everything. I located the housing. I saw how bad it was - completely gummed up with lint. There was no way to clean it. Just a whopping mess. I closed it up and junked it. Never again. Get two separate units. When you have a vent-less dryer, this is the problem - it is always a lint trap issue. By contrast, my LG Large Capacity Front Loading Washing Machine works flawlessly. The only 3 maintenance items are: clean out the lint trap at bottom, remove rubber gasket on door (see KZread) and clean out lint in there and bleach out any mold, and every year, open top, remove the soap dispenser housing (looks like a distributor cap) and clean it in dishwasher or with hot water to remove all caked up soap. This soap may cause a water leak with time. Over time you may need a new gasket ring for the door. That's it. Works like a horse after that.

    Did you remove the mesh from under your fan? I've cleaned and tested everything and everything seems functional. The only thing I can think of is my fan goes but doesn't seem all that powerful I remember the fan used to sound more blowy. Would you say your fan sounds powerful? Also after a dry cycle is there usually any water left at all to drain out the bottom? Mine has a few cups worth of water

  • @luxent
    @luxent Жыл бұрын

    I removed the mesh because it was getting clogged with lint. The fan will eventually wear out and slow down. You can dissamble to clean it but it's just better to order a new one. After dry cycle, there is water left in the drain capture area but not in the main drum. If you overload it (more than half the drum) then there will be some wet spots.

    Many issues with these equipment’s appear after 3 to 4 years of use.The drying capabilities start to fall after some time (it is dependent on the number of times one uses the drying capabilities of the machine per year). This problem is due to several issues some of them highly critical for the machine's lifespan: 1- The two temperature sensors (at the inlet and outlet) get covered in lint through time and as such give false readings throughout the drying operation; 2- The blower's fans get covered in lint and as a result, the airflow is highly reduced. Lint also gets stuck underneath the fan housing, increasing friction and reducing RPM, which can lead to a dead motor further down the road; 3- The lint auto-clean implemented system is highly inefficient as it does not wash all of the existing lint present in the auto-clean container; 4- The flowthrough pipe apparatus consists of two pieces, one bottom non-anodized aluminum and one top thin-steel bolted cover. These are two completely inappropriate materials for this application! It's like engineers don't have a clue about galvanic action between the aluminum and steel or galvanized parts which can lead to severe corrosion (Or perhaps they do!!! - programmed obsolescence rings a bell!?!?); 5- The bottom non-anodized piece design on the fan blower is incorrectly design as it has no inclination for water drainage and as such lint gets deposited and water gets accumulated speeding up the corrosion process; 6- The paint used on both the bottom and top parts of the flowthrough pipe apparatus (inner paint) is not suited for high-temperature applications and does not protect the parts from corrosion; 7- Although there is a sealant applied between both the top and bottom parts connectivity is achieved through attached bolts and corrosion is not prevented!! The replacement of the top steel part for stainless steel or even for both parts would make this equipment have a much much higher lifespan! But, as you all know profits wouldn't be as high! I can tell you all of this because I've recently cleaned and fixed my LG washer and dryer machine. Rust was removed and heat resisting paint was applied, highly recommend do to so. Rust will definitely appear again due to galvanic corrosion, only choice is to use a less noble metal in direct contact with both metals (usually zinc is used for this type of protection), but perhaps next year when I clean it again to check it out, I will do it.

  • @iskandarzulqarnain4521

    I find thats your finding is all correct, 2 in 1 machine was build with unavoidable design flaw compare to seperate machine. Detergent vapour or even excessive sud will enter the dryer section which make it even worst, lack of lint filter also contribute tu burn smell during drying when the lint wrap around the heater coil. I also find the heavy corrosion on the ducting of dryer heater. It is cast aluminum, can we spray it with zinc spray to minimize the corrosion rate?

Less drying function but it's okay as I didn't use all the fancy drying options from LG. Much more quieter compared to my LG. My old LG had too many repairs as the shock absorber, motherboard was already not working. Had it repaired and gave it to relative to use. For these type of washer/dryer machines - not recommended to use softener. It will clog up the machine eventually. Use a drying sheet instead. The dryer does a pretty good job if you dry it until 95% and don't overload. Clothes not crumpled and no need to iron.

    @@luxent Maybe combined machines are designed to ensure a good washout of lint in case of less frequent use or the dryer. In any case, I found the architecture of your LG really special! in fact they have eliminated the classic condenser pipe and the fan withdraws directly from the tube. even more unusual is the point where the water sprinklers act. It gives the idea of being able to wet the laundry during the drying phase.

    Yes, some LG models have this vertical vent channel on the back connecting the bottom of the drum to the blower vent. This channel is this weirdly shaped pipe with all sorts of crevises. First time I cleaned it, it was so full of lint that barely any air got past it. Removing it was a bit tricky, but now after multiple cleans, I can do it under an hour.
