It's hard to watch a good friend die, but traditional broadcasting and especially news has been a sinking ship for MANY years-even before the internet. It's not that the general public doesn't want news.... It's more that the business model and the presentation of news has resisted change to the point that news has had to become more and more sensational to grasp at the dying interest of viewers and advertisers. It's shocking to me that broadcasters haven't realized that the 1950's style "lecture hall" style of news delivery is STILL the main delivery method. TVNewsCheck/Talking TV did an interview mentioning a new newscast in Detroit. If I remember correctly, possibly the CBS affiliate, where they talked about starting a "New" way of doing things that should attract a new audience and advertisers. I took a look and other than a more "loft style" set.... exactly the same as all the rest of them. Compare that to the beautiful presentations seen in sports and weather channel programming with beautiful and exciting motion graphics, tons of layered composite effects, and other visually stimulating excitement generators. Sure, there is a time and budget concern to a local live news broadcast, but surely there is some middle ground between the still used Walter Cronkite lecture hall style news format and the audio/visual excitement seen other types of broadcasts. Let's face it .... We didn't like being lectured in school, so why would we like it on our free time. Even the simple use of well done green screen and great templated graphics along with new inexpensive on-location transmitter technology would cost less than a practical studio with the same old stuff! I've been in broadcasting/news since the 80's and it's for the most part , boring as F to watch compared to almost anything else there is on the internet or TV.... and if someone really wants to get some specific breaking news quickly, the local tv station is not the best place to go to get it. Traditional TV news is dead, and the decaying body stinks more every day.

Loooove Peter's Jack Abbott since day one, growing up in Greece while watching him locking horns with Victor back in the 90s has been the absolute highlight of my tv viewing experience, such amazing thespian and talented artist, the YR people are truly the crown jewel of daytime entertainment and father time himself couldn't be more consenting to that, thank so much every single one of you people, in front and behind the cameras, God bless you all !

Peter Bergman was incorrect saying that it is his third decade on the show. Peter debuted as Jack in 1989 so it's been four decades.

That Abott house does not look like a mansion and needs some heavy landscaping. Wish Phyllis would get a break she really is traumatized by Jack’s betrayal. He forgets all she has done for him. Phyllis is a fabulous actress and deserves an Emmy. Really missing Doug Davidson he was much needed for this segment especially, Ray and Chance are good actors but unfortunately can not fill the longtime history and Genoa City connections of Paul Williams.

The writing isn't the same. YnR used to present more relevant plots. Now kudos to the actors who are professional and give their all to the stupid dialogue and plotlines that change on a whim. As much as we love to hate Susan Walter's character, her acting is superb. As is Bergman's.

I had stopped watching the show completely during that fiasco of a story about Baby Dominic. 👶 However, once I saw that Susan Walters was returning, I started watching again, and her performances are always spot on. Love "Jack and Diane" together. ...and Bergman is an awesome actor. The two of them are my very favorites.

The production was better before, I love the show always, but the writing was better before along with the production. But I'm a long time loyal fan and I love the show. Love Peter and Susan, too. The show used to be so much better. I stopped watching two months ago after 30 years. The writing stinks, they are under-using people like Sharon, and they don't know how to end a story line. I love Jack & Diane, but the Phyllis, Ashley, and Nicky fiasco has to stop. They can't tell people to leave Genoa City! Right now, it is too negative for me. They need to resolve this some way so a better story can come along. When I tuned in a few times to check what is happening, it's like they are rereading the same script from 6 month ago. I do miss the great performances by Peter Bergman, Sharon Case, and Melissa Ordway though. Hope it improves soon.

@@CarolMikesh The Young and Restless is a soap opera not a sitcom, there needs to be serious drama and conflict, I love everyone on the show Cast and Characters from day 1. But I do agree with you that Josh Griffith needs to go, they need to get back to character drivin stories that are emotional and deal with subject matter that was moving, too much business talk. Phyllis is crazy and a hypocrite but Michelle Stafford is doing a great job 👍. Give Sharon a storyline, and Chloe, bring back Gloria Judith Chapman deserves better as do the Doug Davison Paul Williams. It's terrible what they did to him. Keep Gina on the show, Patty Weaver.They stopped focusing on Noah and Ellie,they have disappeared and Mariah and Tessa, They should be st the celebration. Anyway I love the show and always will, and won't stop, but I do agree the show needs improvement and the production needs to get back to the way it used to be.
