Really nice gameplay. Thanks
What happens if you don’t have any cards in your hand? Is that considered a pass and you pick up a card?
Correct, the only way to get more cards is by passing or making an ultimatch
Made me smile. Such a fun way to highlight the game
This is wonderfully done Daniel! Love the little sneak peak style trailer.
Who will rule and become the new Jarl of the Vikings?!
In our clan? Peyton...absolutely crushed the rest of us. I think he managed to capture 5 or 6 castles and just ran away with it.
@@PlaytheGameHQ 👏
great list its rare for me to play with 5 but i still want to be have a good 5 player game just in case,,btw where did you get your nasa T- Shirt its not the Nasa design but the old look style,, i want one and i dont know whats the name of that style thats way more different than the bleached t shirt that i have :(
Thanks for the instructions. I may have missed it but do you keep hiking the same park every day? So all three days at the same place? I’m looking forward to seeing this game on my table!
Yes, thematically it's a three day hike through one national park so you'll use one park card for the entire game. It's a really cool little game - I hope you enjoy it when you get to play it!
@@PlaytheGameHQ thank you for the update. Have you tried Waypoints?
Thanks for the teach, Daniel! 🏕
15:50:00 From instrument makers to an Assassin's Guild me thinks, Devon. Cheers.
I am so burned out of this kind of game. I call them "spreadsheet euros", and they feel like they are designed by AI. Low interaction, bloated, worker placement, fulfill contracts, pasted on theme... ugh Recently played Age of Steam for the first time, and it felt like a breath of fresh air, it is incredible to feel that from a 20+ year old game.
Yeah it's a major let down. The board presence, while impressive, would overwhelm anyone who isn't a masochist.
Sorry you feel that way, but I honestly disagree with most of your takes - there's more interaction than your average euro, with plenty of opportunities to intentionally or inadvertently screw up other players, the contract fulfillment is fairly strategic in both what it takes to fulfill them and the timing and order in which you do them, and every theme is pasted on to some extent, but this one integrates it very well
It's definitely a lot, But that can be said of any heavy game - this isn't a game for your friend who just got into gaming, but if you've played any sort of heavier game with lots of choices, then it's pretty intuitive with really good iconography. I'm overwhelmed any time I look at TI4, and Hegemony made my head spin when I saw it for the first time, but does that mean I shouldn't play it, or I just need to know what I'm getting in to?
@@PlaytheGameHQ Brass, Through the Ages, Terra Mystica are among my favorites, being heavy is not the problem. It is generic. In a month or two almost no one will be talking about this one. Glad you enjoyed, but as you explained the rules I literally rolled my eyes
@@PlaytheGameHQ "every theme is pasted on to some extent" is a cope. The extent matters. I could change this game to "build containers" "find for exotic animals" "build cruise ships" with almost no effort and it would fit just as well.
He busted out the ruler.... Now he means business
Love your channel!
Thank you so much friend!
Looks great!❤
❤
Great, if a little fast, run through, many thx.
Thanks, I stumbled through my first play but feel much more equipped now for round 2!
Fluffy dragon board game is cute
This is an awesome "how to play"! Perfect!
That's a really great explanation of the game as I understand it.
Very good video. The right length! I like your shirt as well.
Talk to fast
I know, working on it - tried to slow it down in more recent tutorials. Hope it was helpful nonetheless.
Adenaline is explained wrong in the intro. It isn't where you are after you move. It's "were you the last to move" or "were you the last two to move in a race of 5 or more"
Try Unmatched.
Great playthrough! It was fun to see Ammon playing his own game👍
Vary your tone of your sentences. I'd rather listen to Siri read me the rules then listen to one person strain themselves so much to get through a script!
@@avatterott1 thanks for the feedback, been working on that for a while and feel like I’ve gotten a lot better in more recent videos. And I wasn’t straining to get through the script, I was reading at that pace intentionally to keep it at a certain time. Half the people seem to like the pace and the other half feel like it’s too fast, and I’m taking note of the feedback and trying to find a good middle ground, but we can’t grow without trying things to see how it works. Hope you were able to at least get a feel for the rules from the video!
I like seeing you play your game Ammon. It is fun to see you all playing.
Yay! this was so much fun playing with you both!
Helpful
Good video! Thanks buddy
Funny, just yesterday I remembered the song Da Da Da by Trio, which I probably haven't heard since 1997... and now here we go. Anyway - thanks for the tutorial!
35:50 is the best
Very unique idea for a game! Thanks
Beatiful game. 20% too expensive.
A lot of people are saying you are too fast, but I liked the pace. I didn't want to watch a 20 minute intro video. Then again I've played wingspan and am just trying to get a feel for how wyrmspan compares.
i mistakenly bought the non deluxe version and i want to know if its still good without the minis and magnetized player boards
It's a nice little game. Just to emphasize for newbies that ensure everyone knows when to put their number on their towel and when to discard it, because this lapse voided our first time playing as we discovered half way through someone hadn't been trashing their number when they won a wave!
Great reminder! Thanks for playing.
Just got the game thanks for making me feel justified in my confusion! we had identical questions and I too felt uncomfortable making assumptions. I love deck building games and I have no idea how someone new to them would manage to play this.
Sounds fun! :)
I have a lot riding on this game. I'm going to buy it, but if I don't like it I am going to swear off anymore puffy preview videos and dismiss them as hype and clickbait. This game needs to be awesome. I feel like some gaming youtubers have become part of the hype machine. I hope this game restores my faith in reviewers.
I really hope you like it, but I can only speak for myself, not any other reviewers. This video was shot before this game was signed by a publisher - it was just a cool prototype by a guy that has an amazing story, and it's a game that I really fell in love with when I played it at the GAMA Expo 2 years ago. I specifically asked the designer if I could review the prototype because of how much I enjoyed it - all before it was signed by The OP. I really, truly hope you enjoy it, because I really love the game and I'm really excited that other people are going to get the chance to play it soon. And now that it's getting close to being published we do have a production copy and will be doing more content (full disclosure, some of that will be sponsored and some not), so you should be able to get a much better feel for the game and if it's going to be a good fit for your type of games. It's not going to be for everyone, and that's okay - I hated spirit island and I really love some games that others have written off. And I'd love to hear back once you get to play it and hear what you thought of it.
@@PlaytheGameHQ Thanks for your reply. I'll slightly alter what I said. I'll be more cautious about falling for hype in the future. But I believe you're not trying to be a hype machine. If you truly love the game - that's what I want to know. I think I've noticed in the past twelve months some people don't really "love" a game, but they sure are promoting it like they do. The big question I have for anyone who covers a game in the early stages is, "Do you predict this game will be in your top 10 at the end of the year?" If someone can honestly answer that then that is really helpful to me. Some reviewers have said to me, "Too hard to tell at this point" which is telling. But if you declare it will be then that's all I want to know. Sorry, I didn't mean to paint you as misleading. I think you are being sincere. And I hope I love this game as well. Finding a new game that gets me excited is not that common for me unfortunately. I could probably list more games that disappointed me.
wanted to know, do you still score the middle hole if your opponent has buttons on the board and you didnt have any buttons in play hit an opponents disc?
Nope, if you don’t make contact with at least one of your opponent’s buttons then nothing no you do on your turn scores and any of your buttons that were involved in the shot come off the board
Looks beautiful. Always a question with area majority/control, how does it play at 2?
It plays well at two, there is also have a simple to run set of AI factions. You can add one to a 2-player game which can curb direct conflict. :)
Haven't played it at 2 yet, only at 3 and 4, but I play to play at 2 players this weekend so I'll let you know.
would you choose this game over creature comforts?
honestly, I don't think about them in the same category because of the dice mechanics used in Creature Comforts. Both scratch the card combo itch though (and the cute creatures). I (Alison) would probably choose Everdell over Creature Comforts because I prefer the strategy without the luck of the dice. But I also wouldn't turn down a chance to play CC again.
He needs to talk less and stop talking over her. She has a more engaging voice, whereas his is a bit monotone.
Appreciate the feedback, I think she's better to listen to than me too!
Looking forward to this one
Thanks for the the clear and concise rules. For those complaining about brevity, you may want a disclaimer that this isnt a comprehensive tutorial but for the those who want to learn the game in 10 mins or less. I liked your syle and pace. I subscribed and look forward to seeing more from you!
Wow! thank you, guys! This is THE gameplay!
Glad you enjoy it!
I get this video is trying to do a quick run-through. But it just ends up being too fast to understand and doesn't even explain what the 2x and 5x tokens are and when the card mat comes into play.
Yeah, I've definitely heard that feedback and made a point to slow it down a bit in the tutorials we've done since this one.
Yes please - super excited for merch!
When my friend and I played this, we were a lot more obvious with our descriptions. Watching you guys helps me see the middle ground! We had a blast, and it looks like you all did too!
I got the Super Deluxe version of this game and I'm NOT disappointed! Also, to your comment on your kids destroying you, my 10 y/o son and I broke in the game and I thought I would be sneaky and build up my market empire and gain so many resources to win the final 2 rounds.... needless to say he beat me by 3 points! He sat there with a HUGE grin on his face. We have been loving what IV Studios have been putting out with their games. I don't think there is ONE strategy that works with this game. its really fun!
