I'm kirat, a 2018 Computer Science undergrad from IIT Roorkee. I've been part of Google's Summer of code twice and have worked at FANG, Finance and Startups over the last 6 years since graduating.
I have a knack of film making and was heavily into it back in college, this channel is a way for me to keep that part of me alive.
This channel will take you through my journey of learning about Tech jobs, how you too can crack them and which career path might be best for you based on your goals and ambitions.

What if he made this video just as an excuse to bet 8$?
Shall i join the previous cohort or wait for the new one ?
I am org admin for the Linux Foundation and project lead of OpenPrinting (and co-founder) of it. Great interview of Rudra Pratap Singh! Thanks a lot, Harkirat! He was really an amazing candidate and was very enthusiastic on the Snap automation work which helped me to deploy Snap automation on the CUPS Snap and the 4 Printer Application (printer driver) Snaps. So I selected him with a high rank and he continued strong on the rockcraft-based OCI containerization of CUPS and the Printer Applications.
Sir, I want to ask can we crack GSoC with Ai and ML background (with no knowledge of development)?
you gotta admit, the tech behind these games are kinda interesting. I saw a video about the code behind the game crash, and its a very elegant solution that stores the entire history of all crash games with hashes and math. All while keeping the EV for any value at 90+%. It's very cool to see how these companies come up with more new and fun ways to lose money that is also technologically sound
How are you running a Cohort and managing to learn all these things?? Would greatly appreciate if you can respond here as I have difficulty in learning. I take a lot of time to learn anything new.
Happy birthday in advance🎉🎉🎉

Bhaiya what are the top best future technologies which I can master in 4-5 years to get 1 billion dollars. Bhaiya, I know few of them(e.g HFT, XR,AI&ML) but I am confused, from where to start & learn, can you give me a project driven roadmap of these and other technologies? Bhaiya reply asap!🙏
Bhaiya, from where i can get bigger industry projects which are broken down to smaller parts so that i can learn fastly the current and future technologies in depth( I am beginner with no coding experience)🙏🏻 please reply asap🙏🏻🙏🏻

Sir, could you please make a video explaining the main differences between the MERN stack and Java full stack? Which is better for a long-term career? I have completed my first year and only know the basics of programming languages. How can I start my career in my second year? I'm confused about whether to choose AI/ML, the MERN stack, the Java stack, or cloud computing. This should help many other students who are also confused about which field to choose.
Can i join in june as well ?
Perminder ✅

Really helpful…kindly make some videos for people who are switching their careers to full stack and/or DevOps…what should be their optimal approach and how to overcome career gaps etc.
whats a PR?
When gsoc start
Hold on! Is there a course coming? If so, WHEN?!
Harkirat I'm learning AWS , Terrafrom, Shell Scripting ( basically DEVOPS ) should I stick on to it or should I change ?

harkirat ,when your web3 cohort will start ?
Stop making Software Engineering an IIT JEE competition.
Just shut up man what do you mean by that?? This is such a bad mentality to have you don't want him to shed light on an aspect of software engineering because it would garner attention and thus increase competition?? Tbh stop expecting software engineering to be a place for mediocre sub par engineers.
@@prakharsatyam366 There are already Mediocre sub par engineers in the industry just bcz of such videos. What's the moto of GSOC ? - to contribute to community and make better softwares. This youtubers are just preparing people to get job, they are making such community events, OSS and whole Software Engineering an Placement boards.
BHAI TAKE CARE U LOOK SLEEP LESS
LIFE IS UNFAIR, I graduated from CSE 1.5 years back and dont know shit working for a 7lpa job (got it luckly, they might fire me anytime), i dont know if these people are talented (+ works hard), btw i too workhard but i think am just a idiot with low iq , i think hardwork without talent is nothing. This videos just push me into depression 🥲. I atleast have food and shelter, there are people who are in much worse position than me, life is UNFAIR fk this

In 2025 I'll definitely make myself to be capable enough to get selected for GSoC 🔥

Where is the gambling website? :D
Your videos have been super helpful, Harkirat :). I got into GSoC this year with the Haiku organization, and I’m sure I wouldn’t have known about it without them. The syllabus you share on your cohort's websites has also been a great guide for me. Thanks for all the videos, and please keep posting more like these. I’m still trying to learn as much as I can from them. Hopefully some day I get a chance to talk to you and get some advice :D
Hello, Can you tell me , When did you start coding ?
@@asthatiwari7813 I began learning C++ in September 2023 during my first semester of BTech in IT at NITK. After about a month of study, I started writing small programs on my own. At the same time, I was also learning the MERN stack by following Harkirat's videos (though I still have a long way to go with web development). Prior to this, I had a little Java experience from my 10th grade schooling. I started contributing in late January, but I had been active on their IRC much earlier. P.S. I just finished my first year :)
@@calistomathias so i am learning mern stack almost completed, what guidance you'll give me to crack gsoc, i have 0 knowledge about it
@@ayushjoshi9531 When I applied to Haiku, I followed rough guidelines. My project wasn't heavily focused on low-level programming, and I believe my selection was due more to the strength of my proposal than my prior contributions. I made 2-3 small contributions, fixing some issues. Haiku's unique operating system API, unlike any other OS, required a lot of extra study. The GSoC lead often asked me to research topics and answer questions, helping me understand how to start. Staying in touch with your GSoC mentors and leads is crucial; the person I discussed my project with became my co-mentor for GSoC. Most tips from the video are really helpful: start contributing early to understand the codebase, stay in touch with the organization, and be curious from day one. One more tip: get your proposal reviewed multiple times by your mentors before submitting it. My future mentor reviewed mine several times and asked for detailed plans. And remember, don’t get overwhelmed by huge codebases - that happened a lot to me at the start (still does to be honest xD) but its part of the task :) Btw: I write medium blogs on my GSoC journey so would really love it if you go through them (you can find them on my LinkedIn) and let me know what you think :)
@@calistomathias Thank you for sharing this
bhiya iss sal vi gsoc cohort hoga kiya .........so that i can also crack it .........and in 2025 i will be in the your video🤭🤭
