I forgot to talk about DAC cables...
Hi! I connected to my router via VPN but I can't see the local network. Help me what can I do?
Are you able to use a few APs in the standalone mode? Looking at this for a small office and they do not have any other Omada products, but would need several APs to cover their building.
This seems to work great - the only thing I can't wrap my head around is how you were able to create the VPN-IP-Pool in the same IP-Segment as your LAN. I'm getting an error message when I try this.
we I have many businesses with cloud key plus AP's and switches but running Draytek routers. If we want to move away from Draytek what "router" device should we get for firewall/vpn/vlan/ethernet and vdsl WANs? What happens when we add a device if the system already includes a cloud key plus with network controller config? Thanks
There is an issue with omada controller. some of us can't get the latest controller update for docker, since it fails to boot and crashes. But the previous version worked. Other than that, i've been having a good experience with the eap-773 though i still don't have a working wifi7 client to test it with yet :(
I have a query.. can u help me please... I need to configure VPN with multiple static IP... All user who connect through VPN will assign different static IP addresses
With these particular routers (and currently, as this may change) is a little tricky from the GUI as what you may want to do is that you can assign each client a different L2TP connection, hence different usernames. To each, you will create an IP Pool with the same starting and ending address, so each time each of your users connect to the router, they will be handed the same IP Address. This is something we've done to a colleague and it has worked great for more than a year.
they are so expensive though
Yes, for big deployments may be quite some investment in SFP modules, but, big saving in optic fiber. For smaller deployments very practical. Have a great one!
Thanks!
Blink shot themselves over not having an optional low voltage plug... after buying 4 cams and the hub I've now decided this system wasnt the best fit as leaving on motion detection kills batteries quicker, meaning I rarely leave it on to monitor anything, defeating the purpose. This is a great fix you show here, but for me there are other just as cheap options with continuous power and 24/7 optional recording direct to sd cards out there.
Thanks for the Instruction my question is there any configuration on the router to allow VPN connection?
Not at all. The router will open the ports it needs as well as firewall exceptions.
@@TechnologyMoments i did with the same configuration today but not working I hope you can help me. thanks and best regards
Can the sync module serves as a chime too?
No, the module cannot act as a chime. Any echo can act as a notification device.
This video was very helpful to me. Thanks for making the video
Will the laptop have any issues with a new card? I currently have a MediaTek WiFi card and I want something similar to what's shown in the video. Same pins, etc.
If it has the same port and the correct keyed card, it will work with no problem.
@@TechnologyMoments same port for sure, idk what about key but i think that's will be ok
Watching your whole series. Adding fiber to my home Unifi setup and really appreciating your guide here.
nice video, are you open to suggestion
Of course, always welcome.
how do you remove the adapter from the network card. I have mine plugged in and I can flip the latch on the front of the adapter down but i can not get the adapter out of my network card
Hi, I understand. We've seen many poorly manufactured SFP modules out there, which locks are difficult to engage and to release. Some are even well branded. The trick is to place the lever at the correct angle to be able to pull it off. However if then mechanism was damaged, you might have to try sticking a thin layer of plastic between the SFP module and the socket in the card to release the securing locks which act as pins, or if I might make the analogy, like a cilyndrical lock in a door, which in this case is retracted by the lever. So it will be like forced entry using a credit card on a simple door
@@TechnologyMoments thank you I will try that
Battery died after 1 day Keep resetting itself.. Inadequate solar panel
We've seen with this one as well as with several other solar powered models how important it is to pre charge tha battery connected to a USb adapter before using it with the panel. Also that at some intense motion areas, battery seems to be too small.
@@TechnologyMoments yeah you're correct I'm on my third one.. I have it plugged into the power to charge it but no lights indicating charging... the first camera had a big solar panel but this new one is tiny. put some black tape around the sensor make the area smaller
i have dell latitude e7250 i7 5600u can i upgrade to wifi 6?
You are too close to the mainboards that did not support it. I would recommend testing a card that you can either use in another laptop or return.
This camera only records motion 😢 so disappointing
I think you may be configuring something wrong I use this cam model for 24/7 over its SD.
Do you know if this card will work for an xps 9550?
Yes it will most probably work with it
Have a network with around 35 Unifi switches, APs and cameras and on the whole the experience has been good. Had a few PSUs on the switches go pop after a few years but these are easily replaced. Cameras are excellent, UI for CCTV is very good as is the UI for the system as a whole but the firewall on the Dream Machine Pro is an absolute basket case which has led to it sitting on a shelf with a home brewed Ubuntu box doing the firewalling and IDS. If it had a GUI more like OpnSense I'd be using it.
Thanks for enriching everybody's understanding of Unifi as well as what they are doing right and wrong.
you do not mention IPsec setup

Omada Wifi7 EAPs no longer need PoE++ after the latest firmware update. PoE+ will suffice.
Is it possible to simultaneously record videos on cloud key and unifi dream mashine pro se?
Not that we're aware of as that would be redundancy in device adoption not available on the GUI. Sounds like a great idea though
Thanks for the tip regarding device and switch compatibility regarding POE, POE+ and POE++ standards!
Just got my eap-773 Tried testing with Samsung S24 Ultra but it caps at wifi 6e. I think the issue is on the samsung end. Though their specs show it as wifi 7, their cs say it's in reality wifi 6e. They don't explain why that is or whether wifi 7 will be added to it through a firmware upgrade (considering the snapdragon chip supports wifi 7). Basically they are just leaving users in the dark. So i cannot help compare my wifi7 results with you since that is the only client i have that was suppose to have it :{ did test the controller self hosted and mobile app, those things worked. I also got 320 MHz to work since that's what is shown in wifiman.
The phone I'm about to get!!! About speeds and caps on either end... well that is what our videos are all about. Theory vs Reality. We are just starting to create wifi 7 videos and as you may have been able to see... adapters still have a lot to evolve. Maybe even these APs, but as you said, maybe firmware will solve many bandsteering options not only for the phone but for the AP. Open Speed Test server has options for your cellphone so you can play around tweaking both ends of the connection. Congrats on your cellphone
@@TechnologyMoments Hope you aren't from Malaysia. Because in Malaysia apparently the wifi7 is not working. I think other countries for the S24 Ultra will have working wifi 7 example i heard it works over in Singapore right over the border next door. Better check to be sure. Samsung didn't even want to clarify when we can expect some sort of firmware update to add wifi 7 support. Cause clearly the snapdragon chip supports it.
@@TechnologyMoments i tested band steering for the EAP-773 with the samsung s24 ultra. it changes from wifi 6ghz to 5ghz depending on the signal. later it does switch back to 6ghz but it felt like it switched it too slow cause i moved to right beside the ap yet it was still stuck at 5ghz for a good while before switching back. Any tips for optimizing the omada settings for this? there is a ai wifi optimizer i tried, but i get the fail error "could not apply because could not scan".
@@TechnologyMoments yes i used openspeedtest to for my benchmarks. my nas is using 10g sfp+ fiber optic om3 to switch. the ap is powered by an ac adapter with blue led so no issue with power. And it's connected to switch via 10g base t ethernet.
@@TechnologyMoments did u hear, there is pixel 9, iphone and a samsung phone out soon (i think the s25 is next year?) That said i liked the S24 Ultra, hardly any bloat (it's a breath of fresh air compared to those china branded bloat full of god knows what). can't go wrong with it but it does cost a premium.
i have no-ip ddns account..How to use it instead of public ip address?
How about the antenna? New card will need additional antena for dual channel, right?
There is a lot of controversy regarding the use of single or dual antennae, or even the need to change antenna for 6 GHz band. I think manufacturers need to step up and answer these questions. Take a look at this for example: www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/193bwd9/do_wifi_7_cards_need_new_internal_antenna_for_6ghz/
I request the support on my omada OC200 controller. I would like to know how to send automatic reports to my email monthly, since I have 200 parents distributed by the branches. Regards
I followed the instructions I used an electrical box and mounted the reducer inside I also used the existing doorbell wires. Works perfect. Thank you The Blink company should address the existing power problem with the device . It is technical flaw that they have a wired connection that does not power the camera doorbell . It also does not increase the life of the batteries.. poor design. Anyhow your solution works very well.
You should probly link the MSI wifi7 pcie adapter because that uses the qualcom chip which works for amd. That said if i am not mistaken, windows 11 doesn't yet support wifi7? so if you install the wifi7 pcie adapter, it will be stuck at wifi6e speeds ya?
Absolutely not. Windows 11 does support WiFi7. It does identify it as 802.11ax being 802.11be but link speeds are much higher. Now as of the driver which is the one that must be supported by Windows 11 is the one that manages how the card communicates with the OS. We did reach 1.5 Gbps much higher that what was achieved in WiFi6 (1 Gbps average), Thanks for enriching this blog, and wait for more WiFi 7 adapter videos
Great content!
Good video man !!
in your test i saw it showed wifi6 when connecting to the ap. so the limiting factor was your client didn't support wifi7 so it couldn't get the most out of it. but later in the video you showed a laptop with wifi7. I'm assuming it supported 320 MHz? for power did you have poe++? if not that would impact the performance. based on your results you didn't even break 2.5gbe speeds. how far was your client from the ap? If your video included comparisons for distance of client from the ap as measurement, and other tests like wall penetration through walls in a different room, that would also improve your video benchmarks for this :}
Hi there, yes WiFi6E clients reached 1 Gbps and in WiFi7 up to 1.5 Gbps. I really think that with better adapters we're gonna be able to go beyond that. I do not have a PoE++ switch so as I said I used a 12V 3 Amp adapter. I could have used an injector as you well stated. The performance is going to be the same as with PoE++ only it will consume less power overall. The 2.5 Gbps could be surpassed with a well connected client for each radio. But I keep thinking it would be enough. We we'll be sharing more practical workshops in the near future testing more adapters and demanding scenarios for this AP too. Have a great day and thanks for enriching these blogs.
@@TechnologyMoments ty for sharing. i do have a poe++ switch but they are 2.5gbe .... i don't see any poe++ 10g injectors around. seems like a switch is the way but they cost a bomb, so i don't blame you not having it. it's hard to find and expensive if you do. My eap-773 is arriving soon, so i can test with my samsung S24 Ultra. But it will be capped at 2.5gbe using the poe++ ports. So i won't be able to get the supposed 3gbe + speeds this eap-773 should be able to get 🤔 otherwise what then is the point of the 10gbe ports. ubiquiti u7 pro straight up stuck to 2.5gbe ports.
u can self host the omada controller using docker. but i read on reddit, omada is more susceptible compared to ubiquiti aps, if you disable controller, the ap itselfs wifi might also go down depending on your setup. so if you want wifi to be up, have to make sure your controller is also up. like you said poe+ should be sufficient to power this eap-773, but 6GHz will be affected. Hence you will want to be sure you can do poe++ if not at least have the appropriate injector if you don't have a poe++ switch. If you still insist on poe+ then perhaps a Ubiquiti U7 Pro would be a better choice since that uses poe+ The trade of though, is that the U7 Pro is limited to 2.5gbe ports, whereas the EAP-773 has 10gbe port. The EAP is only 2x2 so it won't be as good as the 783 which is 4x4
So cool thank you 🙏🙏
Shit. Accurate, precise, straightforward, no BS, no junk talk, straight to the point. Literally one of the best vid I saw so far.
Okay but where do i actually get wifi 7 from? Do i just buy a wifi 7 router or does the ISP need to upgrade things on their end?
If you want to upgrade your Home network, you get the wifi7 AP (amzn.to/3VDuOIV ) or a router such as the Archer series which is very good (amzn.to/45J426n )
Is this wifi 6?
The archer A7 is a Wifi 5 router. If you want a wifi 6 go for the AX3000 amzn.to/3xviUsl For WiFi 7 still very expensive, the Archer BE550, (amzn.to/4bjQiAa )
thank you! You are the best!
Does the standalone method allow for VLAN configs to their own SSIDs?
Do I need an access point for this? Or can I receive a signal to my phone right away? Also, how would I hook up a second computer to this? And how is this even receiving a signal?
This update will make your laptop compatible with all WiFi signals, If you want to run as fast as WiFi 7 of course you need to connect to a WiFi 7 AP.
Lenovo flex5 intel core i3 support wifi 7 Card?
what is the best and powerfull unifi for wifi voucher
I would without a doubt use the UDM PRO (amzn.to/4c4kujQ ) or the UDM SE
do i have to use fixed ip or it will work even if my public ip will change ?
They will work but you just have to use the FQDN of your NoIP or Dynamic DNS service provider.
Just got these today. Def don’t disappoint and are pretty worth it imo. Just wish they had app support for customizable EQ and software updates. For some reason they sound better wired than wireless. Still a good pair of cans tho.
Well. SOunds nice, but I don't like this UniFi idea. Maybe its just me. I do like their products I think, but I don't like this single point of failure.
It is not like that at all, but I understand absolutely your doubts. If I were to implement a new infrastructure and I did not know anything about them I would thoroughly talk to people who have used them for at least a year. Good luck with your projects.
Friends don't let friends get suckered into the unifi ecosystem.
So the VPN IP Pool has to be the same subnet as the LAN? It cannot be a seperate IP pool say 10.10.2.x ?
Hi, actually it is much better if it is not, as there will be no conflict of IPs and the router will do it's job linking the two separate LANs
